Are you using the condom fill method? If you add the "taryn spin" to the condom method then you can get a LOT of liquid in each carto, so then each filled carto lasts longer.

I alternate between doing the condom fill/taryn spin method .. and just using a syringe. I can get 40-50% more liquid into a carto with the condom fill/taryn spin method than I can with using the syringe or just dripping from the bottle.

Right now I am using the pre-filled carts as I have only just begun and need to work through the carts in the sample and refill kits. But if you could post links to filling methods I would appreciate it because someday down the line I will fill my own. Thanx.

After the condom fill, I do the "taryn spin", then I do a 2nd condom fill and add more juice to my carto .. but then I do a 2nd "taryn spin" and that moves the juice away from the mouth end and down to the battery end. Then I store the carto upright. battery end down with .... plug in, for 10-15 minutes, so any remaining juice flows downward to the battery end. I dont have "juice in the mouth" if I do it that way. If I do any other method, I end up with juice in my mouth, hate that.

Your mouth sores got better by drinking water? I'm a diet pepsi gal, but have been trying to drink 4-5 glasses a water a dy, especially because I read a lot of CaptJay's posts and he's a big advocate of drinking lots of water if you are vaping, I usually follow advice he gives in posts but never knew why I shoudl drink more water, just that he said everyone who vapes should do it. So maybe I'm not drinking enough water, will increase that today and see if I can get rid of these dang sores on the roof of my mouth.

Mouth sores went away mostly with a combination of 2 swishes of listerine a day and a lot of water. You may actually want to drink a bit more water. While Diet Pepsi can be tastier (I'm not a diet drink person myself), the carbonation and caffeine are helping dehydrate you further.

Before I started vaping, I drank anywhere from 5-6 glasses of water a day. I'd wager I'm up to about 10 glasses now. That's on top of my usual pot of coffee in the morning so I'm almost constantly having to 'go' if you know what I mean.

I had posted this info about a week ago, but it's buried into the first pages of this thread, so will do it again now that so many of you have received your kits and started vaping this week.

Cartos are simple to refill, you can refill them anywhere using the "carto condom fill method" (CCFM). There are lots of posts and videos right here on ECF about how to do it, here's a video that shows both the CCFM and the "taryn spin" which allows you to get even more liquid into the carto and also moves the liquid away from the mouth piece:

YouTube - ‪A double demo! The Cartomizer Condom Filling Method, and the Taryn Spin.‬‎

When you watch the video please know that you dont have to do the "taryn spin" part, you can just do the condom fill part and instead of doing the "taryn spin" part you can flick the carto hard a few times, like you would flick a thermometer however be SURE to have the ".... plug" in the battery end and have the battery turned DOWN when you flick it.

I personally do it the "therometer flick" instead of the taryn spin if I'm in a hurry, I can refill a carto in less than 1 minute that way, it's almost as good as the taryn spin but not quite. However if I do the taryn spin I can always get another 8-12+ drops into the carto).

For instance if I do both the condom fill and the taryn spin method I can normally get a total of 30 drops into one carto, about 1ml. First I do the CCFM, then a taryn spin, then another CCFM and then I always do one last taryn spin, because the carto has so much juice in it at that point and the last taryn spin will move that juice down from the mouthpiece, towards the battery end .. so I dont get juice in my mouth.

Personally, I prefer the pop the top and fill method. I tend to do 5-10 cartridges at a time and just didn't like the condom spin/taryn method.

I just use this method: YouTube - ‪How-to guide to refilling KR808D-1 or Vapor King cartomizers‬‎

If it's a used carto, you don't have to let it sit since the filling is probably still wet. I still let it sit for 10 minutes or so and make sure to give it a thermometer shake. If it's a new carto that hasn't ever been filled or was recently washed and dried, then you need to give it an hour or so to absorb all the juice. The hour or so wait isn't typically a problem for me since I usually fill them all right before I go to bed.

Hope that helps! By the way, don't toss the cartos you have used. Save them, wash them out, and reuse. It'll save you some money.

To wash them, remove the top cover and the inner clear plastic washer. Set those aside. Put the carto in a bowl of some kind and pour some boiling water in. Swish the cartos around after about 10 minutes. Wait another 10 and rinse them out. Repeat the boiling water method, rinse, and blow out the water. (I just do some short blows through into the sink.) Let them dry for a few hours and they should be good as new.

I did have a few cartos that had some strong tobacco flavors in them that I couldn't get out with boiling water. So, I did one more round where I added a dash of vodka to help pull out the flavor. This worked wonders.

So, I just got my Easy Elegant in and holy cow! I love this new battery. I'm still trying to figure out just what kind of battery it is and have done a bit of research as I went. Some folks think it's just a Riva/Ego with a KR808 mod but, from what I can tell from battery voltage tests I found, it's running at a different voltage. I looked a bit more and I think it's actually one of the new VGos.

This is a really pretty setup and doesn't have the LED on the tip which should make it a little easier to hide on planes and such. Boy, does it shoot out the vapor though! Holy cow! I don't have to pull nearly as hard as I did on the KR808 to get the vapor I like and this thing has a huge battery life. (Have read of folks getting 12-13 hours out of it with pretty moderate vaping.) All the KR808 cartos fit on it and work just fine.

I think I may be in love. Shh, don't tell my husband.

I'd love to see it, do you happen to have a link to it or just the website, it sounds great, especially if it uses the KR808 cartos. I do have an eGo but it's the size of a cigar, so I dont ever take it "out", I only use it when I'm "in" LOL.

Here's the link: THE ELEGANT EASY

If I can talk my husband into pulling out his camera later, I might be able to post a pic for comparison. For now, I'll just describe it as best I can with words.

It's a little fatter and heavier than my KR808. Mine is black since I thought the gold might look a little too over the top for me. Width wise, it's probably about double the width of a KR808.

With the carto, it's about 1/2" shorter lengthwise than the KR808.

I've been vaping mine without the cone attached. The cone just makes it a tad too snug for my current labeling method (strips of sticky notes taped to the carto with the name and strength of the juice). If use the plain carto with no label, the cone fits just fine. Snug, but fine.

The flavors also seem to be better on this thing but I'm not sure if that's just a novelty effect. I'll have to double check over a few days to make certain.

Thanks for the info about it, I love new things LOL. Did you buy the whole kit, or just the battery and a battery charger? Does a regular KR808 carto fit right onto it, without an adapter?

Here's a pic, is this the one you got? It looks just like an eGo but a shorter version of an eGo. An eGo cant use a KR808 carto without an adapter, so that's why I'm wondering if a KR808 carto fits right on yours, without any adapter?

Right, it fit right onto it without an adapter. If there is an adapter, they've welded it to the battery.

That's why I think it's one of the new V-Gos.

I got a new kit because I also wanted to try out their gold cartos. They definitely work differently than the regular carto. I can use the regular KR808 cartos without any problem and I can use the gold cartos that came with the kit on my old KR808.

Hi, Jackie. Can you answer a quick question for me? I'm getting ready to order extra blank cartos (I want different colors, so I'll be able to identify which ones are filled with different flavors).

Anyway, on Ross' website (vaporsetc) I see cartos that are Tru "2.4 ohms". How are these different from the regular cartos?

Do you have any tips to mark cartos with what kind of juice are in them (other than using color-coded cartos)?

Thanks, Jackie, for being my "mentor" throughout this process. So far, I am four days analog-free, and counting.:)

Hi Roxanne, congratulations on being analog-free for 4 days!!! OK so I am such a curious person that yes, I did order the Tru 2.4 ohms cartos, I tried one and decided I'm not going to use them. Here's why. They are "low resistance" cartomizers (dont ask me about "resistance" cuz I am electrically-challenged LOL). But what it means is it provided more umph to my battery, or to something, and the thing was like in high gear. It scared the willies out of me so I didnt take more than 2 draws out of it ROTFLOL.

That said, I am a whooz when it comes to anything that might blow up my battery. I'm sure they are good, for someone who knows what the heck they are .. but all I know is they are "low resistant" and it almost took off like a rocket LOL. Maybe some of the guys here, who know this stuff can tell us what they are!

Heck I even bought the super sexy PURPLE ones .. would be happy to use them if I knew they werent going to shoot off to the moon LOL. The 2 drags I did take were GREAT, so hopefully someone will put in their knowledge and explain to both of us what the heck these things are and what the heck "low resistance" even means .. in laymans terms.

Ross is pretty low on inventory of many standard cartos and dont buy the yellow ones cuz those have a problem with too much filler in them (he'll be getting new yellow ones in soon which will be better). The best standard ones he has right now are the light blue ones.

I use a magic marker on my colored cartos .. to tell me what juice it is. I mark at the bottom of the carto, right above the battery thread, for instance for pina colada I write PC .. for chocolate I wrote CH. I write it small, with a fine tip sharpie. Even though the sharpie is permanent, it does wash off, totally off. And the mark is small so it looks cute, almost like a little doo-dad.

A gal who has a ecig store is having to close it because, sad to say, her husband was just diagnosed with cancer. So she is having a 20% off sale right now because she is closing her ecig store. She has regular standard KR808 cartos and a 20% discount if you use the coupon code SAVE20 when you checkout. I ordered some standard KR808 blank cartos from her last night and she already has them packaged up to ship for me. I've never ordered from her before, dont know anything about her and she doesnt have many colors left .. I got some PINK ones teehee, and a few other colors. Her website is www.midwestvapor.com and she only ships via priority which I think is $5.95.

I do believe Ross will be getting new standard cartos in this week, but we are leaving for Europe in 11 days so I wanted to bring like tons with me LOL, I am a pack rat .. actually I am a "Stash Builder", that's why my nick is what it is.

I actually asked Ross about this one because I was confused as well. I think he did a nice job explaining it (even if he called them batteries and I believe he meant cartos):

The kr8 batteries [I think he means cartomizers] are kanger, 2.9 ohm and the tru-kr8 are 2.4 ohms. The 2.9 run a little cooler, 2.4 a little hotter, more risk of burning but produce more vapor and flavor.

Having played with the CigEasy Gold Cartos for a couple of days, I have to strong recommend them. I'm not sure of the resistance on them but they put out an incredible amount of vapor and hold a ton of juice.

They sell for $7.95 a 5 pack but I think they're well worth that price. The only issue (and it may be a big one for some) is that they currently only come in black - with little gold lettering near the bottom of the carto.

I've tried these on both my new Elegant and my old stock KR808. They work equally well on both and don't get nearly as hot as the stock KR808s. It might be worth a try for you on another order.

Hope that helps!

I have a newbie question. Are most carts interchangeable among brands? I have an exhale02 and it would be nice to know which if other manufacturer's carts will fit it.

Thnx.

From what I understand, there are two major types of e-cigs. The 501 base and the 808 base. If you have an 808 base, any 808 carto will fit it. If you have a 501 base, 808 cartos will not fit it without an adapter of some sort. The same is true of 501 carts - they'll fit any 501 base but not an 808 without an adapter.

Now, I haven't yet really figured out how you tell the difference between the 501 and the 808. It comes down to the threading of the cartos I believe. I 'think' that 808's have female threads on the cartos - they wrap around the battery threads. I 'believe' the 501s are just opposite of that.

Whether I'm correct or not in this assumption we'll both soon find out!

Oh, and I believe the 501's tend to have a lower voltage than the 808s.

Hey all,

I stumbled on a post on CC which led me to do some investigation on vaping! After doing some reading and research on this board, I went ahead yesterday and ordered a starter kit from V4L. Hopefully, this will be an adventure in leaving analogs behind for good!

In that vein, I was wondering if some of you could share your experiences/success stories on stepping down the nicotine levels. I know each person's needs and habits will be different, but it would be helpful to me to hear what progressions have worked for others.

TIA

Hi Bill .. glad you "stumbled" over here LOL. I started vaping a little over a month ago, had smoked Marlboro Reds for 40 yrs. I started with 36mg and planned to stay there, I was not about to jump in with any false expectations thinking I should immediately start cutting down. After 40 yrs of smoking I figured the time factor for lower my nic with vaping wasnt important. What was important to me was that I get off analogs ASAP, which is what happened to me.

That said, I did NOT use the pre-filled cartomizer that came in the kit, many of those are nasty-nasty. I ordered a pack of blank cartomizers as well as the kit, as well as 1 bottle of tobacco flavored e-liquid .. made in the USA. I learned here on ECF how to fill a blank cartomizer, so that I would be ready when it arrived in the mail.

When the kit arrived, I filled up the blank cartomizer myself and that was what I vaped for the first time. It was 36mg strength. I was in heaven from that moment on.

I truly thought I would just vape a tobacco flavor .. forever. But after 10 days you can say "curiosity killed the cat" and I ordered a few "flavors" .. pina colada, peppermint, mocha coffee etc. Thought for sure I would hate them .. but wrong .. I loved them. Next thing I knew, I didnt want the tobaco flavors anymore. Now, a few weeks later I have about 15 different flavors here and some more new ones coming this week LOL. I am, after all, a "stash builder".

Anyway, about 10 days ago I decded to see if I could step down to 24mg in nicotine strength. I figured I wouldnt be able to do it however to be honest I never noticed the lesser amount of nicotine .. I just went on vaping like I had on the 36mg and it was great.

Maybe all my different flavors helped .. I switch flavors every 2 hours or so .. I must get bored easily LOL.

Personally I dont care if I drop down lower than 24mg .. my physcial body has improved so VERY much over the past 30+ days that I know that vaping has caused that to happen .. so I plan to just stay in vaping heaven forever now.

Dont deprive yourself, if you think you need a higher strength then just go for it .. my lungs cleared out within the first few days I was vaping 36mg. I had purple/black sort of blotches on my feet and ankles for the past 5-7 yrs .. those disappeared after about 7 days of vaping. So I know that no matter what strength of nicotine I have, vaping is 1000 times better for me and the improvements in my health already proved that to me.

Welcome to the world of vaping, we are not experts on this thread, many of us are newbies too .. so please join in.

Thanks for the quick response, Jackie! I have followed a lot of your posts on this thread and the thread I found on CC and used them (and other's inputs from ECF) when I placed my order. I got a set of (5) 18mg carto's with the starter kit, along with some extra blank cartos and some pre-filled 18mg and 24 mg cartos from V4L and Vapors Etc. I also got a sampler of juices at 24 mg from Vapors Etc and a couple of bottles of juice, all in varying flavors. It was a $$ initial purchase, but I have high hopes that it will be well worth it. Even if, as you say, I never get below 24 mg, it's still a healthy kick in the pants just to get off analogs.

Thanks for the welcome!
