Satharra .. woohoo congratulations on being analog free!!! Great feeling isnt it?

Heh, it definitely has its pluses and I'm enjoying those. I've quit in the past (twice for over a year) but never, ever this easy. Those first 2-3 days about killed me and everyone around me.

The minus side is my analog-smoking husband is having to brush his teeth rather frequently if he wants any kisses. Just can't stand the smell of his breath after he smokes.

We're leaving for Copenhagen next weekend and will be gone for 2 weeks. We have to a layover in Frankfurt next weekend and then on our return we have a layover at Heathrow. Heathrow's immigration/security people can be stinkers, they even tried to stop me taking my knitting needles thru a few months ago LOL, so whenever we go in or out of London I always plan an extra hour for their security check just because they sometimes like to go thru every single item a person has.

I'm going to carry on ALL of my hardware, along with the instruction manuals for both my KR808 and my eGo (in case I get the brand new TSA agent who doesnt have a clue:) In my carry-on tote, in a qt size baggie, will be one 15ml size bottle of liquid plus 5 pre-filled cartos (for stealth vaping on the plane, in airports etc). In my husbands carry on he'll also have one 15ml size bottle of juice, plus at least 5 pre-filled cartos in his quart size baggie. That still leaves a lot of room in each of our quart size bags .. a 15ml bottle plus 5 pre-filled cartos hardly takes up any room in the baggie.

Also in both his carry on and in mine, we'll each have lots of blank cartos too but those empty cartos dont have to be in the quart liquid baggie.

In my checked luggage will be a few more bottles of liquids, with the labels removed cuz I dont want any labels on something that is in my checked luggage, just in case some over zealous luggage handler decides he'd like some free vaping juice LOL.

Well, I'm traveling alone and I truly loathe checking luggage. I've gotten to a point where I can pack a 19" suitcase with enough clothing and shoes for 5-6 days. The biggest hurdle I had to cross in packing carry on luggage was the liquid requirements. I've got to find one thing to leave behind so I can fit my juice. I've got a few 5ml bottles laying around that I'll put my less-vaped juices in and will use as filler for some of the blank spaces but two 30ml bottles are going to be killer to pack. I'll find a way though!

Hope you have a great trip to Copenhagen. One of these days I'll find myself in a European country. Hopefully, I'll have intentionally sent myself there!

Satharra, I can see that I've got alot of experimenting to do with flavors & such & I'm looking forward to it! I've already bought DH his own set but he hasn't been too interested...until tonight when he began asking questions, hopefully he'll start vaping very soon also.

I tried Peppermint yesterday & it almost knocked me out of my chair...not sure the minty flavors are me but I'll keep trying!

Carol

P.S. Would you come pack for me when I take my next trip:D? I can't get 2 nights worth of clothes in a 19", much less 5 or 6 lol.

I am a constant vaper .. I vaped 36mg liquid for the first 3 weeks, vaped over 3-4ml a day .. didnt OD, in fact just loved it. Only side effect I had was ........ LOL, good maybe I lost 1-2 lbs LOL.

I'm personally not concerned about a "few" people who have a "fear" of ODing. Having a fear of it happening is different to me than if they had actually done it. I guess there may be a person out there who has "OD'd" on nic, maybe they exist and I've just never heard about them .. but so far all I ever read are posts from people who are afraid of ODing, but havent.

I'm not really afraid of ODing; I bought the 0mg just in case I get the shakes or something similar. Besides, at some time in the future I plan to get down to 0 anyway so I'll have it here already.

Have a great time in Copenhagen!! We spent a couple of days there several years ago before embarking on a Scandinavian cruise. I would like to go back someday. Interesting city!

That's what I thought about the peppermint too when I first tried it. But it's great stuff when your taste buds go dull. I really like the apple cinnamon too. I think it might be a tad less strong but it reminds me a lot of apple pie.

As for packing, I tend to narrow into 2-3 pairs of pants and 4-5 shirts. Roll them up and play tetris with my suitcase. The key is to only take 1-2 extra pairs of shoes and to rely on where you're staying to have other essentials (hair dryers, for instance). Re-wear most of the items and/or wash them out if they get dirty and you've got a nicely packed carry-on. I also carry a little bottle of Febreeze to freshen them up a bit but I think next trip I'll just take a couple of fabric softener sheets.

An update!

DH started vaping last night, and hasn't had an analog since then. He is clinging to one last unopened pack, and said this evening that he really wanted a cigarette. I said "No you don't. Vape." but he's only vaping sparingly. He's just using it when the cravings get bad. He wants to be off analogs AND vapor by the time of the cruise in December. What a dork. I'm a vaping fiend! LOL But he's on 24 MG, and I'm on 12 MG, so we'll see how he does. I know the first few days are weird. I can't wait til he starts smelling again, and realizes how nasty burning tobacco smells! That happened to me on day 3.

What else? Oh yeah! Flavors! I've tried lemon, blue raspberry, fuzzy navel, hazelnut mocha coffee, and irish cream coffee. Love them all! I have a sample of root beer I haven't tried yet. But this evening, the tastebuds went dormant. It was bound to happen, right? I mean, from what I'm reading here, it's normal. I guess I need to order some peppermint to jolt them back!

The one thing I CAN say, is after seeing so many people quit, then have just that ONE smoke...and then suddenly they're smokers again. I'm saying it here and now; I WILL NEVER TOUCH AN ANALOG CIGARETTE AGAIN!!!

DH started vaping last night, and hasn't had an analog since then.

Remember that he is at the very beginning..like the song 'We've only just begun'. Be very patient and encouraging, and don't get on him too hard if he slips. Hopefully by cruise time he will have some practice and seen the advantages of vaping. I went through many cycles in trying to quit, sometimes going for 9 months to a year without smoking only to slip and fall. I first tried the gum and would sneak occasional smokes. Then I went to Snus and did better but still smoked an occasional O.P. (other peoples). Since I started vaping two weeks ago I have not had the desire to smoke or even get off the wagon for a 'treat'. I don't want to give myself airs that I am through with smoking forever, but I continue to be cautious and, above all, thankful for my vapes.

If by cruise time he is only on vapes, consider that a huge victory. My intent is NOT to get off nicotine. I like the buzz. So a quick fix throughout the day suits my needs and I am content with the fact that I am not loading the system up with tars and chemicals. I do, however, limit the number of puffs in a session because I found that if I take too many hits I get jittery. One or two healthy hits does the job until next time. He might also want to consider a mixed program of vapes and Snus. Or vapes and gum. Any port in a storm.

BTW take my remarks with this in mind: I never was a hard-core smoker so my methods and success must be seen in that light.

Good luck.

Yeah, he slipped. LOL Poor fellah. I slept later than him, and when I opened the bedroom door, I could smell it, faintly. I said "You had a cigarette"

"No I didn't".

"Ok" And off I went to draw my bath. He brought my coffee to the tub for me (a sunday ritual. Such a sweet, sweet man) and said "I smoked one in the shed. How'd you know?" I laughed and said "I can smell it. It's ok baby. You're still doing great! I just can't wait until your sense of smell improves." ;)

Ok... I have read all 27 pages of this stuff, and I'm still not sure what type of starter pack to get. I have read soooooooo much online, and looked at so many products, and it's only confused me more. I do have several preferences though for my first try...

I don't want it to look like a white regular cigarette (would prefer black)
I want automatic, not manual (don't like the button)
I want pre-filled cartos to start (I don't have the patience to fill my own)
I don't want a flat tip, I want a round tip
I have to start off with Menthol (I'm a Newport smoker)

What should I buy???
Cruising on Grandeur in 30 something days, btw, so I wanna start NOW!

What are Snus? I've seen this on other threads, but no definition. Just curious.

BTW--I'm on week #2 at a non-smoking hotel on a business trip. So far, so good. I'm happily vaping in my room and my car. I've gone outside for an analog only once or twice a day--usually in the late evenings. That seems to be my weak time. Yesterday was fun--walking along the National Mall in DC, vaping away.:vapor:

Sounds like a KR808 might be a good fit to me too. I bought mine at VaporJunction but I know a lot of folks in this thread also used VaporsEtc. I just recently bought some of the coolcarts from Vapors4Life but I also refill all mine. The juice just tastes so much better when it's been freshly filled in a carto.

Most of the kits include around 5 cartos pre-filled. You'll want to purchase more cartos with the kit, though, as 5 cartos won't last you all that long if you smoke frequently.

Just got back from a week on Freedom of the Seas, and vaped all over the ship. Most fun was sitting on the "non-smoking" side of the main pool, vaping away in the sunshine (the "smoking" side was in the shade:2cool:), and in the comfy lounge chairs in the solarium. The most useful vape time was in the internet cafe waiting on their painfully slow internet connections to do anything. Royal Promenade - no problem; bars - no problem. In fact, the only public place we didn't vape was in the restaurants - but the best of all was vaping in bed:blush:

Did you get the "stink eye" a lot or did you have to explain about the e-cig to everyone that spotted that "cigarette smoke" swirling around you?

Never got any "stink eye" looks - quite a few curious glances, though. We had a few people ask us what they were and how they worked, and a few people who asked us where to buy them. I think the complete lack of any "smoke" smell is the key to lack of complainers.

I'm on Freedom 3 weeks from today and will continue the practice of vapin all over the place.
How was the cruise?
I've never been on a ship that large before.

The cruise was great. we've been on FOS twice, and have two more booked on her for next year. Once you get over the awe of her size, she doesn't really feel any bigger than any of the other ships we've been on. Most days we look at each other and ask ourselves where all of the other passengers went - there's plenty of room for everyone to find a "favorite" spot to relax.

Vapors Etc seems to be out of stock in the starter kits, but Vapor4Life has many choices. So many choices in fact, that I can't decide which to buy! Do I want XL, Shorty, Mini, etc. Do I want the one that charges in the case, or not? HELP!

Hi Lunyma .. I was away for the weekend, got home late last night and leaving again this Saturday for 2 weeks but wanted to asnwer your post.

Vapor4Life is a good company, I buy their empty cartomizers that are called "cool carts" and they are fantastic! V4L (short for Vapor4Life) always ships to me right away and if Ross is out of the KR808's you cant go wrong buying from V4L in my opinion.

After you try your kit, if you like vaping, then you might also want to get the PCC because it can charge a battery 4 times without being plugged in .. plenty to last you for an all day excursion off the ship and away from electricity.

I have a lot of extra batteries, because I am paranoid about running out of battery power, but since you dont leave for another month you will have time to see if you like the KR808 and then you can order extra things .. like the PCC, extra batteries, a usb passthru, etc.

Also be sure to order a separate bottle of liquid .. to fill your empty cartomizers and refill used ones. I have never tried V4L's liquids although someone is sending me some to try which will be here today .. chocolate ones teehee :)

Personally, if it were me I would just order the basic kit for now .. the kit that has 2 batteries in it. And a bottle of extra liquid. You can just refill the 5 cartos that come in your kit and if you then like vaping you can start ordering all of the "extras". V4L ships fast, so does Ross at VaporsEtc. Another great supplier is GoodProphets.com .. the owners name is Rob and he is great too!

As for liquids, I personally like the ones that Ross at VaporsEtc has .. and I also order from tastyvapor.us .. but everyone's tastes are different.

Well, I initially got the manual regular and found that I was running out of charge pretty fast. It wasn't due to a bad battery but to my constant vaping. Personally, were I making the decision on what to buy now, I'd go with an XL just to get a battery that will last longer.

I was going through a battery about every 3-5 hours. It typically takes that long or longer for the other one to charge.

It may come down to your individual use. I ended up getting a Cigeasy Elegant and haven't looked back. However, that one doesn't meet any of your criteria (well, other than being black). Personally, I prefer my manual and was too concerned about the automatic going off when I didn't want it too. Evidently some are quite sensitive to vibrations and noise and I didn't necessarily want my pocket vaping and picking up another nicotine addiction for me to feed.

The PCC cases are nice to carry with you but I doubt you'd need one with the XL. They just have a longer battery life. The e-cigs that charge in the cases will also charge like usual on a charger too so you don't have to charge them in the case.
