I'd get a dual battery mod.
I've used a Spark and an eVic and just couldn't do it.
Even with HG2s the battery life was poop.
If I use smaller coils I could easily run my dual mods all day without changing batteries.
It feels like 40w on a single battery is much harder to do than 80w on 2 batteries.

When I graduated from tootlepoofing to sub-ohm pre-built tanks, I could use my Sigelei 100w all day at 40w or with TC using Ni200 in the Serpent. I stuffed that deck with metal and it could run all day.
It wasn't till I started building massive coils that I needed 3 sets of batteries.

My advice is to remove the inner juice control ring and forget to put it back in. I haven't used it in months, and get no leaking on refill. To wick, you don't really need the wick to enter the juice wells at all, just sitting on top of the deck works fine, with both decks. That juice flow ring was the single biggest problem with the v2, but it's really not necessary at all. I hope that helps.

Im worried about leaking though.. The tank itself works great but I have no way to reliably fill it. I just refilled it for the second time today, and the JFC won't move so I filled it anyways and it immediately floods the chimney and starts running out the air holes and the top when I turn it upside down.. I tried filling it through the slots in the bottom of the chimney earlier and it just leaked right over the edge into the chimney itself. Im thinking the Cthulhu just isn't going to work out, I should've bought the Kayfun 5 I had in my cart instead. The JFC on either deck is pretty much stuck wide open there is absolutely no movement to it whatsoever. I left the inner ring out when I did the single coil deck last night but I pretty much just ran that tank down till it emptied and thats when I changed it out for the dual after reading that deck worked properly. I have the wicks sitting just barely in the channels, that part I managed to get right after trial and error. I trimmed the ends so they only hit about halfway down the ring, they don't even go to the bottom of it. The tank itself is working fine its just I end up filling it, and a quarter of it dumps out before I can get the top screwed back on. I miss the simple days of the single fill screw on the bottom of a Kayfun Lite right about now. Even the overly complicated Kayfun 4 worked better than this.

i've refilled the v2 literally hundreds if not a thousand times. it won't leak even without the juice flow control ring, if your cotton is correct. you just need enough to fully cover the juice channels. I have three of these things, used them daily for months. I suggest you keep trying. if you do want to fill through the bottom, just take your spare deck, whichever one you're not using, and put that into the chimney, then fill around the sides of it. If you're using thin ejuice, that might also be a factor, I use mostly max vg, at least 70.

Do you have any pics of one built?? I pretty much have both wicks sitting on top of the channels, theres a tiny bit that goes into them but for the most part the top is completely covered. When I built it I was concerned I was actually using too much cotton but vapewise everything is great on it so maybe I missed something else? Tanks almost gone already so Ill give refilling it a shot without the ring when I do and see if that helps. My unflavored mix I make is 60/40 VG/PG..

So the v3 single coil is fine?

According to another post about the V3 on page 3 of the forum, the juice control works fine on the new one. Both decks are actually great, single and dual, its just the juice control ring on the V2 doesn't work.

Well, I got them.

I got 10 wraps on a 3mm with fused 26 vs 8 wraps on 2.5mm in the Griffin 25.
I could have gone much bigger. 4mm claptons are totally possible.

This thing is much easier to wick. The wick ports look small but I didn't even have to trim my rayon. It all fit in there.

I don't like how easy it is to spin the JFC or the AFC ring not having notches to lock into. Other than that the tank is perfect for me. I've not had time for any nitpicking. The real test will be tomorrow at work.
I'll try out some crazyness on the single coil sooner or later.

If you're build crazy like me, so far I'd highly recommend it.

I have been a Cthulhu fan from the start, the V1&2 were both really good :)
I ordered a Hastur & thats when things went south for me :( very poorly designed leaked like crazy when top filled no juice control/ shut off, totally disappointed with it :(
Altho the huge single coil deck looks real appealing,I'm not interested in the V3 at all, a huge atty with only 4 mil capacity = Fail, these big coil atty's go thru juice like crazy @ 4 mills you will be filling it constantly :(
BTW there on sale at GB if anyone wants a deal on one. 28.44

It holds 5ml. I filled it with a syringe.

JFC is just a band-aid for people that can't wick. I've never used it on a single tank...even the Griffin.

Huge atty with a low capacity...yep. They pandered to the people that like coils. Thats why I bought one.
The griffin holds 6 and I only ever half filled it so I could rock a different flavor soon. I only half fill the Cthulhu too.
The only way I see they could have given it more capacity is to go with a top coil.
The deck takes up all the room. They could have made the chamber shorter but then the single coil deck wouldn't work. Capacity is a pretty lame thing to go for because even if it held 10ml I'd still need to leave the house with juice.
All about the builds baby!

I don't shut it off when I refill...never a dribble from any tank.
You would need positive pressure inside the tank to push the juice out...not atmospheric.

The tank looses it's vaccume when you open the cap with or without JFC as there is a gaping hole in the top.

Proof:
80 degrees out infront of a fire...jfc wide open.
No leaks.

i take the deck off and bottom fill the hastur, works fine, fills in five seconds. I do not believe that the cthulhu v3 holds five ml of liquid, though, judging by how many droppers it takes to fill, compared to other five ml tanks. I'd say it's more like 3. I'd like it if they released an extension kit with a bigger glass.

i take the deck off and bottom fill the hastur,
I did that for a while, but between the needle tip and the opening it from the bottom it became a PIA to fill :( On the + side it vapes like a beast & the capacity is pretty good to.
@ 10.25 Mike fills it with a syringe see for your self how much he can fit in the V3.

You V3 guys, how much bigger is the diameter of the V3 compared to the V2? I pretty much retired my V2 after like 2 weeks and just got a Kayfun 5, but I really want to give the V3 a shot so I can have a tank called Cthulhu dammit! I just bought a Sigelei Spark the day I got the V2 and its exactly 22mm like the V2. I'm hoping the overhang of the V3 won't be bad enough I have to buy a bigger mod..
