I am on week 5. I been through the aches, sore throat, tried, hungry, depression, headaches and such. I figured it took me 23 years to get in this bad shape from cigs it going to take awhile for the body to come back. I do not know what normal is. I can breathe now better, not much coughing, taste and smell are coming back. So it is a good thing.

...You can add any water flavoring you want. capellaflavordrops.com has water flavoring drops, but they have slow service, and their shipping is a little on the hefty side, although they do have specials from time to time....

I was looking at water flavoring today at Walmart. I noticed the main ingredients seem to be the same as ejuice -- PG and flavoring. Hmmm, a refreshing drink and a nice vape to boot?

After 40 years of smoking my body took a little time to adjust.
I went from 2 packs a day to totally Blooging in 48 hours.
Haven't seen any noticeable down side accept a little of the detox "acne" mentioned earlier.
Basically, feel better than I have in years. Hang in there, t should all level out.

18 days vaping, 700 cigarettes NOT smoked!!!

Exactly! I had a lot of side effects too. You'll notice you'll be clearing your throat less often too. Don't vape cinnamon yet if you want your taste buds to come back quickly, b/c it tends to deaden them. Put the cinnamon up for later, and then don't vape it everyday. Save it for an occasional treat.

With so many things having PG in it, you would think PG would be easy to find on the store shelves, but that is not the case yet. Maybe when more ppl ask for it, suppliers will start stocking it. I would hope, anyway.

With the acne breakouts, don't scrub the heck out of your face. Wash your face with soap only every other morning, rinsing with warm (not hot) water on the days you don't use soap. See, you're breaking down the acid mantle (PH) of your face when you use soap. Putting raw honey on the face (15 min.) helps with the bacteria and leaves your face really smooth and healthy. And don't pick! If you have a cyst, there can actually be up to 5ml of fluid under those bumps. There is a product at the drug stores called Neutrogena On-the-Spot Acne Treatment that words wonders. If you have a lot of acne, go to acne.org and buy the very large tube of acne treatment for $30, but be sure to keep it waaaay away from your eyes. If you have only a few spots and don't want to spring for the extra $$$, use a 9-to-1 ratio of water/apple cider vinegar. IOW, get an eyedropper and measure 9 drops of water, then 1 drop of ACV and dab on with a Q-tip.

The reason I've expounded on this is b/c that has been my worst side effect of detoxing -- so bad that I thought I would have to wear a paper bag over my head. I even grocery shopped odd hours. One day one of the store clerks asked me if I had chicken pocks.

Day 5 for me. Pack a day smoker for 9 years to 0 analogs, 5 days ago. Super tired, especially in the evenings and mornings. This morning I had my first sobbing fit, which is unusual for me - I was crying over spilled coffee of all ridiculous things, and I couldn't hold back the flood of tears. :) Other than that, its been not too bad.

That could be b/c cigarettes have MAOIs in them -- mood enhancers. I did the same thing after day 4 of cold turkey. I caved. Luckily I got so mad at myself, I tried again, and then made it one day at a time. Congrats on your Day 5.

I think i know what you mean. For me, vapping isn't really close to smoking at all. I love vapping because its more convenient than smoking and you can get juices in literally any flavor you imagine but the nicotine high is different... its likes a coffee drinker going to tea instead: caffeine is still just absorbed in a different manner. I think its just the matter of how the nicotine works in your body between the two different mediums.

No insomnia here. Some people need to vape lower nic in the evening to sleep well. Some need to vape extra before going to bed to sleep well. Best thing I did for sleep was buying a totally extra battery so I could leave my ecig set up overnight. That way when I am ready for bed I don't need to be unscrewing the cig and finding the charger ends and screwing everything in - I found that disruptive and sort of stressful, disassembling my security blanket! And that made mornings easier too - wake up and vape with no assembly required.

Not that anyone is particularly interested, but here is my story:

I just turned 63 and have been smoking analogs since I was 16. For the last year or so I was smoking American Spirit Yellows - about 10 per day. I bought a carton of them on a Panama Canal Cruise in January (for $27!!!) and decided to quit when they ran out. Around the first of February I bought a really crappy e-cig "starter kit" ("SmokeRelief" - beware!) at a local smoke shop and struggled with it for a week or so before finding this forum, getting some really good "equipment," and finally smoked my last analog on Feb 11.

I guess at this point I'd be considered almost a "chain vaper" using mostly 18mg - 24mg nicotine juice, but I haven't even thought of a real cigarette since the last one. Also, there was no panic as the last analog came out of the pack, unlike previous attempts at quitting. After all, I've got all this neat stuff to fiddle with now!

The most pronounced affect of quitting for me is that I have some depression and sleep a lot more, even now after over a month. But, unlike previous quitting attempts, I'm not ...... off at everything all the time. Finally, coughing is gone and everything seems to smell and taste better.

This is a great forum!

It's been almost 2 years since I've had a cigarette. I was in the grocery store yesterday and a woman in front of me was buying 2 packs of Marlboro Lights, the same brand I used when I smoked. As I was watching this for a few seconds I actually started to think about wanting to smoke a cigarette, which hasn't happened to me since I quit smoking and started vaping. I was very surprised that after not smoking for that long, or even having a desire to have a cigarette that the thought would even come into my head just seeing someone buy them.

I was smoking about half a pack a day and completely dropped it the moment I got a PV kit that worked well. I haven't had many symptoms beyond a general lack of focus, but that could just be me! I do have to cut myself off in the evening because otherwise the nicotine intake won't allow me to sleep. Still adjusting to that.

ETA: I should mention that I was also coughing heavily for about the first week, but that's due to my lung function returning to normal after quitting smoking.

I smoked for over 20 years.....about 20-25 cigs a day........started vaping 26 days ago today, and have had no craving for cigs, and no withdrawls at all.....only benefits of being off the cigs.....like being able to taste and smell things i never noticed before, and have much higher energy levels.........been the best thing i have done for myself in many many years.
