OH you have opened the pandoras box with that one. So many of us are in search of the perfect vanilla custard recipe. If you haven't made an order of flavorings yet, there are many you will want to try. I can tell you from my experience, and from reading many recipes that one flavor you will want to include in your order is capellas vanilla custard. It seems to find its way into most recipes. A few others that get an honorable mention are:
Wanilla(INW)
Vanilla Swirl(TFA)
Classic Vanilla(FA)
Whipped Cream(TFA)
Catalan Cream(FA)
Vienna Cream(TFA)
Bavarian Cream(TFA)
Marshmallow(TFA)
Vanilla Bean Icecream(TFA)
Vanilla Bean Gelato(TFA)
French Vanilla(CAP)

Those are just a few off the top of my head but there are many more flavors that contribute to others best vanilla custard recipes. Order from wizard labs or somewhere you can order small sample bottles of flavorings and try many out on their own to gain a sense of what each taste like individually. Also browse the recipe threads here on the forums. Plenty of good vanilla custard recipes posted. You'll end up tweaking to suit your taste. It can get a bit mind blowing in the beginning because of all the many flavorings out there, but keep it simple. If you are brand new to DIY take a look at danny45 and Hoosier blogs. They will help alot

I agree with Stacy and bm. You can get vanilla custard or the v2 if you don't like the bad stuff. Also then you can add vanilla cupcake, graham cracker or Dulce De Leche etc. I would suggest making small batches like 10 ml. The key to a good custard is letting it steep. If your looking for the holly grail of custards for you it could be a long process. Remember taste is subjective. :vapor:

The recipe I use is capella vanilla custard (the naughty version 1) and TPA french vanilla deluxe (much nicer using the deluxe version) with a tiny bit of vanillin and sweetener (for creaminess and sweetness, but only a tiny bit). A decent custard often is about 30% of concentrates I've found?

My favourite shop bought is nicotickets creme brulee
