I used to drive 45 minutes to work and another back everyday. The cost in gas alone was enough for me to consider a change in work place as of 5 years ago. Same type of work but I had to move closer to home because of that. Then in the first 2 years they changed from a regular benefit package (ie medical etc) to a health savings plan. They require you pay a bulk deductable upfront for your family ($2500) then everything else would be a 80-20 split. Well I don't have a million health issues so I would never come up with that amount. They let you opt out for an increase in $91 a month split on a bi-weekly basis. Great! Then they decided to reduce the force by 18 people out of about 200 and that's when it started. No one knew who would go next. That ended last December. But I remember holding my breath for almost 2 years waiting to see if I would get the boot next. I would hold on is I were you Jason. Unless you have something you can get closer to home that you enjoy, I think in today's economy you have to stay and stick it out. Besides Unisys is making you more valuable, even if you have more to your job title. Unless you are planning on moving down south to get in on Microsoft coming to town! As for expanding on this business, I have a feeling it will become more lucrative as long as people like your customers go face-to-face as they did with me and sell this idea to other smokers. I have convinced a few of my friends and they just haven't bought them yet. Still a bit skeptical, but I am trying and pushing. I think since you seem to own this market in Utah, you should run with it now before people like me start looking into becoming a distributor. Even if you just start setting up at local festivals, you will find those Utah smokers! I would also consider talking to the owner of the new Harley Davidson shop/rest stop in American Fork. You keep a few kits there let them try it out. They will get visitors from every state all week long. Lots of smokers there. Also, talk to locally owned crystal, wizard, gaming type shops. Design a cardboard display box with your logo on it. Keep a couple of sets in it, with niquid and carts. The owners sell them and get a small %. I am not a marketing person, but it seems to me, you would get the corner on Utah if you pushed just a little. Then look at what
green smokes is doing. They are getting people to distribute for like $100 for them. You could too! Seriously think about it. I could not be the only one getting the same thought about going to become a distributor myself. And you know I only started a week ago smoking these things. But I see the $ signs in my head. By the way, I work in law enforcement, I have been telling all the patrol officers I know, get the inside scoop on these things so they don't get crazy and start pulling people over and freaking out!
