I tried the Vic's Wick today - but my OCD wouldn't let me do it properly  I HAD to shove it all down the hole

I compromised by thinning, floofing the feck out of it and shoved it in . It was good to know that I didn't need my ends touching the deck however.

Vapes awesome - I'm calling this style the Fresia Irish Wick

I actually rewicked it out of curiosity. I used a bit less cotton, and pushed the middle of the bowtie down through the deck to where it was barely peeking out the other side of the deck. The remainder, I pushed down to where it was touching the deck. It does seem to wick faster now. Still no dry hits, still no leaks. It seems it keeps my wicks saturated better than the other three times I've tried it.

I've been alternating between two recipes of Ejuice I make, and it's usually a 90vg/10pg mix. That's usually harsh on atomizers, since it's always a rather thick blend. Although I didn't have a problem with the previous method, I can tell when the wick is on the drier side..which it was occasionally.. not burned, just tasted slightly different. There was no burn marks on the wick I used for about a weak with the last method....but with the middle of the bow tie pushed through, it seems a little wetter and juice consumption is faster.

I can see how wicking through the deck can be a big deal with this one. If any air bubbles appear under the deck, the cotton should go through those bubbles and hit fresh juice until the bubbles are big enough to push it's way past that narrow gap of the atomizer and glass tank. That irish guy was on to something there. :) Kudos to him.

Scottish. He's from North Ayrshire, Scotland. :)

Yep Vic's Wick is pure Scottish - and I LOVE how he says 'floof'. I'm never saying fluff ever again it's now 'floof the feck out of it' ;)

    Here's the Vic's Wick technique:

Been a while since I've posted in this sub.. just an update.. the Fresia is still my main atomizer. However, as expected I broke the included bubble glass and had to switch to the straight glass. Where I had very few issues with wicking before, It now dry hits almost on a regular basis. I vape a high VG juice. when juice needs to wick, it needs to send the bubble of air up to the top of the tank. With the bubble glass, it wasn't much of an issue. With the straight glass, there is such a little gap between the glass and the deck chamber (?) that the air has difficulties making it to the top. I need to wait until the wick can soak up enough juice to create a sufficiently large air bubble. With a big enough air bubble, it can push itself slowly past that thing gap if it's held at a 45 degree angle. This process takes about 30 seconds. With the bubble glass, it took so little time to travel up the glass that I didn't notice.

So, I'll probably have to wick the cotton even longer to go to the VERY bottom of the tank.. or get another bubble glass.

So, if DV wanted to do a remake of the Fresia, I recommend allowing more space between the glass and the build chamber. Also, a slight cambering of the bottom of the build deck might also help as well.

I haven't had the same problem, Neal, but it could be my cotton, or my juice, or the totally random nature of vape.... ;)

I don't wick tightly, and I don't drop it all the way down to the deck. Cotton is KGD (Amazon variety, nothing fancy), and juices are (approx. ) 70PG/30VG (Plus or minus 5).

I do find that if I haven't vaped them for a day or so, I need to give them a flip (bubble up), or I get a little
seeping, but other than that they're performing well for me (zero dry hits to date).

I'm guessing (based on some of what you said there) that you're juice is high VG. Is that a correct assumption on my part?
