The Sophia can be used as a 9.2 mm bridge-free dripping atomizer with the flow control closed and without a tank. I bought my first Sophia because of that and used it that way the first day I had it. Used this way, it is as close to my bridge-free Empire Mods disposable atomizers as I've found in a rebuildable. It's design and characteristics are closer to the disposable than other RDAs, including the eBarons.

As with any juice tank containing an atomizer, or even in an RDA that has lots of wicking or a bowl below the coil, juice in a carto tank on the Sophia gets precooked before it gets to the coil. That's pretty much the case with anything other than dripping a couple of drops on the coil in a disposable atomizer. So no, with a tank on, the Sophia isn't up there with a EM bridge-free when it comes to nuances in the flavor. But IMO it blows away Boge/Ikenvape cartos (much less a ProTank, etc) when it comes to flavor, even in a carto tank.

I'm using one Sophia (45 mm overall) in a 19 x 45 mm IBTanked with a straight 15 mm ByLeo STR15 double-oring drip tip. The drip tip needs to be straight and at least 10 mm long to be able to slide the tank up while keeping both end caps sealed while removing the atomizer base for wick/coil maintenance. The drip tip also needs to have a good grip on the tube because in a 45 mm tank, you operate the flow control by turning the drip tip.

I have another Sophia in a 19 x 35 mm IBTanked with a 5 mm STR5 drip tip--just enough to finish the end. There's 10 mm of the Sophia tube protruding from the 35 mm tank so you're covered for turning the flow control and sealing both ends of the tank while removing the base. An alternative to the standard tube + STR5 in a 35 mm tank is the optional 5 mm longer main tube/drip tip combo piece.

The Sophia comes with a red silicone o-ring used in the top end cap. It's less grippy and allows the tube to turn independent of the base. To fill the tanks, I just slide them up past the top of the drip tip, push them over, and use a dropper.

I use the Stormy's Vapor Cellar NR-R-NR ready wires and have a pack each of 1.8Ω, 1.5Ω, and 1.2Ω. I wind micro coils with them on a 1/16" drill bit just as I do for my REO RM2 RDAs, and likewise use organic cotton ball wick. The Sophia has an open 510 but I have not tried to use it yet as an atty on a REO. Shame on me.

Hope this helps...

edit to add: the ceramics are the standard CE2 types used also in the Killer and eBaron Spiral/Pro models.

Final diver 2 update after putting about 20 mL through it on 2 different tanks I finally got a gurgle this morning. Still getting the one drop on the connector after sitting all night. I have not yet taken it apart but given hte draw tightening up I suspect the coil is pretty gunked up this particular juice is sweet and 20mL is quite a bit on a go with it.

Overall I am impressed.

The only clearo ive had success with is the kwx5 from fast tech.
Its great for changing flavors. Its a great vape.

What can i compare them two?

Protank2, evod, t3s, three different aspire bdc styles, smok tumbler, a few others but these are the main ones.
No girgle, no leaks, no burnt, no issues.

I. A cartotank woman! And have i think 16 carto tanks.

I actually have a Diver on its way to me. This is basically a rebuildable replacement for a cartomizer.
V2 Diver Rebuildable Atomizer by Atmistique - Phiniac Rugged Pyrex Glass Tanks

If I take $58 (cost of the 45mm Diver 2) and divide it by $1.35 (cost of a 45mm cartomizer at IBTanked) I get 43.

How long would 43 cartomizers last for a normal vaper (whatever that is)?

[This is not a weak attempt at sarcasm. I just recently discovered the "wonders of cartotanks" and have no idea how long it would take me to go through 43 cartomizers.]

I think it would be a major PITA to remove the polyfill without destroying the coil and wire. Not to mention trying to replace the filler with ecowool.

I like your thinking outside of the box, though. Might be a good question to pose to Isaac, the owner of Ikenvape, who has his cartomizers made special for him by a manufacturer in China.

Fine example of why carto's should be retired to history of vaping. Only a carto can provide you with vapor and burned poly fill at the same time. That can't be good for you...

Best to just stick with clearo's or get RDA/RBA

It depends alot on how much you vape and what juice. I chain vape and some of my sweeter/darker juices can destroy a carto in 1-2 days. My "cleaner burning" juices I can get 5-6 days on one carto.

The reason I bought the Diver was primarily because I LIKE caro tanks and if the FDA shuts us down I want to be able to continue using them past my stockpiled supply of cartos via the rebuildable diver.

about a year and a half, if I am to believe that people are getting 2 weeks out of a carto.

EXCELLENT concept!!!

I'm pretty new to vaping and started with the "usual" progression of clearomizers...CE4 => iClear16 => KangerT3S => AspireBDC => iClear30S.

About a month ago I decided to "take the jump" and try a cartotank. I got an IBTanked and...WOW!!!...I'll never go back to a clearo.

I've tried to "read up on" the Diver 2 but (probably because it appears to be pretty new) I'm still somewhat cornfused:

1. Do you use it instead of (or in addition to) the usual cartomizer in the tank?

2. Does it go on (or in) the tank?

The Killer, The Terminator, The Diver, and the Sophia are all rebuildables that REPLACE the carto in the carto tank. It goes inside the tank. :)

First of all, as a fellow cartotank lover I can tell you that you aren't missing anything. I get the opportunity to try most of the newer clearomizers on the market, and none of them have been able to hold a candle with a cartotank. The Innokin iClear 30 line came close, but no cigar.

If you really think about it, how can you expect a couple of small silica string wicks in a clearo to keep up with the wicking ability of a big wad of polyfill completely surrounding a heating coil in a cartomizer?

You likely are having trouble finding dual coil carts either because you aren't looking for them in the right place, or because they have been falling in favor ever since they were originally introduced. Most carto users have switched to single coils. Have you tried them?

Ever wonder why Boge and Ikenvape never developed a dual coil model? Because they wouldn't sell.

BTW, love the avatar and your user name! :thumb:

I need to .... in here (pun intended) - I bought some Boges, they're in use now. 2 out of the 5 went bad within an hour, the other 3 were okay, but don't last nearly as long as the Smok's I had, using the same liquids and mods. Not happy! Are Boge's still iffy? I need to order some more today, but I'm leaning towards Ikenvape, or just go back to my Smok's, which worked fine?

Honestly, now that I'm over the newness of all this, I'm getting kind of irked at rebuilding everything. I was thinking about it last night, my ProTank Mini needs new wicking, and I have ignored it for days now, because I have other things to do. I like my carto tanks because I can plug and play with them - if I get the urge to build I have my IGO, or the Kangers. I'm also perfectly happy with the quality of a carto tank, I don't feel like I'm missing anything.

The last thing I want is another something to rebuild!

Which is absolutely fine for you. I look at it as insurance against the unavailability of cartos that could happen in the future. I refuse to be forced to go back to smoking because local, state or Federal governments have decided to ban internet sales or ban ecigs completely. Hence I am preparing now. (Just look at what is going on in California and Colorado now in the Ligeslation section of this forum)

Believe me I would be happy if I never had to rebuild another thing. I just do not for a minute believe there won't be a scarcity of heads/cartos etc even if just for a time while it all fights out in court. Realistically it could all become illegal permanently if we lose.

SO I prepare myself now. Enjoy my clearos and cartos while I can get them but have my mechs and rebuildables for the future comfortable in my knowledge of how to use them and DIY my juice.

I'm very aware of what's going on here in CA, it's outrageous. But, I made my decision - if they continue to ban it or outlaw it or make it so hard to get, I'm just going to stop using nicotine. I enjoy it, but it's an optional thing now, I don't need it. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE that ecigarettes have made it an option now, not something incomprehensible.

Plus, I'd rather deny them ANY tax revenue, if they get away with it. I'd rather see a Boston Tea Party mentality than being made into criminals for making a choice that's saving your life.

I can respect that.

I on the other hand know that if I cannot vape I will go back to smoking. It is the habit of inhaling and exhaling vapor I cannot beat. I am already vaping 0 nic 99% of the time. I also know I lack the skills necessary to make an atty or battery holder from scratch. SO I stock up now on stuff I can keep going for years.

No idiot politician is going to force me back into the clutches of Big Tobacco. I will not allow it.
