I agree with Wader2K. I have Republican family, I grew up in the Chicago suburbs.. this issue really freaks me out. (what this makes me is a fiscal conservative with extremely liberal social beliefs)
My biggest problem with Politicians as a collective whole these days, is that they focus too much on the money trail and not enough on what is really going on in the lives of the folks who vote them into office.
They need to at the very least, see the ecig debate as a way of
tobacco users trying to reduce harm, and quit using the product that has all the negative health impacts associated with it.
They don't know how to deal with the classification of these products? then TAX them. don't ban them. (I'm not happy about taxing them, but at the least they can attach some internet tax to them for those folks who sell the products online).
Don't sell to minors - this is a no-brainer. However, the "over 18" law for
tobacco doesn't stop kids from getting cigarettes.
We stole cigarettes from adults when we were kids... I bought my first pack when I was 16 from a vending machine.
For cryin out loud.. the FDA can't even get Big
tobacco to come clean about all the chemicals they are using in their product (*cough* fire safe cigarettes *cough*) - why should the ecig be treated any differently?
It really is just some hystrionic reaction caused by some group with a lot of money that feels threatened.
