 I have one of those Lava tubes from Apollo on pre order. I am debating on canceling my order and just getting a provari when my tax return comes in. I want the black or the SS if I get one with the blue LED. Is this gonna be hard to get a hold of? Nothing is more disappointing than going to order something and it being out of stock.:( I never thought I would want to pay that much for a mod because we spend a lot of time in the pool in the summer and I didn't want to drop an expensive mod in the pool. I just got the v mod xl yesterday and untill I looked inside it I didn't realize that it would survive a drop in the pool minus maybe the battery. Now I could just use the xl in the pool and the provari can watch from the safety of the house LOL.What are the pros and cons of these two finishes?

I have both a LT and a Provari. They both do about the same thing with the Cartos/Attys I use.

But the Quality and Feel is Night and Day. The LT feels Cheap in my hand compared to the Provari.

For me, I was glad I got a Provari because it Feels Outstanding when you hold it. Is it worth the Extra Money to get this Feeling?

To me it was.

But I can understnd some who doesn't want to spend the Extra money for one.

I have two LavaTubes, and used them for several weeks. Kept reading about the Provari, and purchased one a few weeks ago.

There is a world of difference between the two. With the LavaTube, the battery life is considerably shorter. Probably due to the efficiency of the voltage control circuits. Also with the LavaTube, even though the voltage is "set", it drops off as the battey runs down. I do not see that with the Provari. The Provari holds constant until the battery gets to the point where the low battery (blinking button) indicates it needs to be charged or replaced.

I'll probably sell one of the LavaTubes at our next meet in Phoenix later in the month, and keep one just for insurance/backup.

My opinion, now that I've had both. It's a no brainer. Get the Provari. There's a good reason that they cost what they do. It's like a Ferrari next to a Volt.

I had a Lava Tube and actually liked the look and feel of it.. I had none of the quality issues that others had. (but then I didn't use it too long either) My plastic bottom cap did drop off the first week but I gorilla glued it back on. BUT... at the time, all I had was LR cartos. I couldn't get much above 4v using a resurrector, I thought that was OK, could live with it. Then I attached a voltmeter and saw what was really going on.. the led readout was never right! Instead of dropping the voltage to within the 2.5 amp range.. the LT would drop me down way low.. too low.. like in the low 3v range. What the led readout said.. was never the voltage I was actually getting. they don't recommend LR cartos so I bought 3ohm cartos but even with a 3ohm carto it would drop the voltage to something too low to be a good vape. What good is the led readout if it is never right?

Some people don't care about stuff like this but I do. What really got to me was the voltage would drop as the batts discharged and the led readout would still say the voltage was what I set it to. I hate when voltage drops as I vape. So what I set was NOT what I was getting. the led readout was totally useless. I purchased one of the first ones coming out last Christmas and the kit cost me $100! I was able to resell it for half of that but I still lost money. Maybe they've improved the things I found wrong with it, I doubt it because I still see people reporting that they are seeing these issues also. Plus many say that after a while, the device doesn't fire all the time.

A person new to vv would probably initially be thrilled with the LT. People talk of the price difference but we're not talking much over $100! It was worth it to me to pay the extra hundred or so to get something that was accurate as well as quality made. sorry for the rant but I was so sick that I spent all that money on a device that acted the way mine did, I still get mad thinking about it! I mean really... if I was buying a new car..I would certainly pay an extra $100 to have one with a speedometer that showed me the correct speed I was going, rather than drop me down to 45mph while still registering 55! I wouldn't trade my provari for 100 LTs! I wouldn't trade my madvapes vv box mod for 100 LTs!

This is the Provari forum and we're allowed to promote it and be fanboys (and girls) if we want to be.. save your money, it's worth it to eat lunch at home for a few days!

Save your money and get the Provari. You'll end up doing that either now or later after seeing how the LT really works and how cheap it feels. The only time I use my LT is when I'm outside and will be working on something and getting dirty, oil/gas on my hands, etc. I figure if it gets ruined that way it's no big loss.

It is so hard as a new vaper to tell someone to go straight to the Provari. I didn't but in the end I kind of wish I had. I went the route everyone else does with the ecigs, the ego, the lavatube, a mod or two and then the Provari. All that in a little over two months. I would have saved a lot of money just starting out buying the Provari but then I think about all that I learned with the other devices. Maybe it is a road we need to travel.

Everyone who replied to my post has both the Provari and the Lava tube and I am a person who is happy to learn from others mistakes if lucky enough to have the chance so I am going to go and cancel my order with Apollo now. Thanks everyone for taking the time to help me out. It means a lot to me. I would never have made it this far without everyone here. So I know that I want the standard and not the mini Provari but don't know if I should get the stainless steal or the black? I have two SS tanks here that I ordered for the LT but they would be cool on either color. Which finish is more durable? I don't mind if one is more expensive than the other but I don't want it to be all scratched up looking in 6 months either cause I am not afraid to vape in public on a (MODERATED) looking Provari with a tank but I am embarrassed to have a raggedy looking PV if I have to explain myself to anyone. What can I say. Accessories are a girls best friend right? Or I can just look at it like my once beautiful Oak table and chairs with fingernail polish and scratches all over( gotta love your kids) it and just know that each nick and scratch was just another part of the journey. So what finish guys?

I couldn't agree more! I started with a cig look a like kit then a 510, then an ego, then some 3.7 box mods. Sure I would have saved a lot of money by skipping those devices and going straight for the provari but the experience wouldn't have been the same. One of the reasons I love my provari is because I went up the steps and know what it is compared to the other devices I had. They weren't bad devices but they made me appreciate my provari so much more. Imagine starting on the provari and not knowing anything else... I don't think that's a good thing. I learned so much during my journey and I enjoyed each and every device and learned something from each one (especially the LT)
many of the problem questions I see on here are newer people who don't understand voltage and ohms and amp limit and complain about error codes. I knew what I was doing when I bought my provari, I couldn't have said that when I first started out

I skipped the LT entirely, it just didn't look (to me) like a quality item. Then I was glad I did due to the reported problems.

I started on the ego T's type A tanks in Feb 2011. moved to the C type when they came available. Got tired of cleaning atty's so often in them so tried a 1.5ml tank and 1.5 DCC cartos. Liked them. Next came the Provari (2012) and 6 ml tanks. I use the 18650's and the extender, have used the 1.5 DCC's, 3.0 DCC's and have 3.0 SC's in the tanks now. Much better battery life with the 3. SC's but I will use up all the cartos I have on hand.

I kept some of my ego's they are fine for short term use and easier to hide in the hand when I need to stay below the radar, gave some away to new vapers. I think the egos are a good starting place for new vapers, less frustration in the learning process.

Needless to say that I am in love with my Provari, waiting for the blue led's to come back to order my second one.
