Yeah for Deej getting a day off.

Exactly why I haven't sent in my list yet. Cuz I know no matter how much I insist he takes his time filling it, he'll jump right on it and won't stop til it's done.

He and I can wait until after the holiday. :p

I'm sure a lot of "Made in China" e-liquid is fine, if you like the flavors. My problem is that e-liquid is basically a food product and China's track record with product safety. For most things I'll take my chances. With food, I won't. (I also don't understand people ordering DYI flavors from there.) ...

I remember no too long ago where a lot of people's pets died a painful death due to some Chinese wheat or wheat product that was used for making gravy for dog & cat foods.

Here we are:
The 2007 pet food recalls comprise the contamination and wide recall of many brands of cat and dog foods beginning in March 2007, and the ensuing developments involving the human food supply. The recalls in North America, Europe, and South Africa came in response to reports of renal failure in pets. Initially, the recalls were associated with the consumption of mostly wet pet foods made with wheat gluten from a single Chinese company. After more than three weeks of complaints from consumers, the recall began voluntarily with the Canadian company Menu Foods on 16 March 2007, when a company test showed sickness and death in some of the test animals. Soon after, there were numerous media reports of animal deaths as a result of kidney failure. In the following weeks, several other companies who received the contaminated wheat gluten also voluntarily recalled dozens of pet food brands. One month after the initial recall, contaminated rice protein from a different source in China was also identified as being associated with kidney failure in pets in the United States, while contaminated corn gluten was associated with kidney failure with pets in South Africa. As a result of investigating the 2007 pet food recalls, a broader Chinese protein export contamination investigation unfolded, raising concerns about the safety of the human food supply.

By the end of March, veterinary organizations reported more than 100 pet deaths amongst nearly 500 cases of kidney failure,[1] with one online database self-reporting as many as 3,600 deaths as of 11 April.[2][3] The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has received reports of several thousand cats and dogs who have died after eating contaminated food, but have only confirmed 14 cases, in part because there is no centralized government database of animal sickness or death in the United States, as there are with humans (such as the Centers for Disease Control).[4][5] As a result, many sources speculate the actual number of affected pets may never be known, and experts are concerned that the actual death toll could potentially reach into the thousands.[6][7]

I hope everyone is having a good holiday weekend!

On the subject of leaky bottles... I've received 5 15ml bottles total. The first 2 used pink childproof caps with no leaks. The next 3 bottles came with white non-childproof caps and 2 of them leaked into the ziplock bags. I know the day they were delivered it over 100 degrees out and it was in a mail-truck all day. That being said, the only other leaks I have had from other vendors were the super small 3ml sample bottles.

okay... let's try this on for size...

Combination heat and bottle orientation... if the airspace inside the bottle is at the mouth end and it gets hot, no leak.

If the airspace is NOT at the mouth end (the bottle is laying down or is upside down) the expanding air forces the juice out.

Solutions... only one I can think of is to stop using the padded envelopes, and going exclusively to boxes. Slap a "This End Up" label on the box and PRAY that the post office respects that.

I'm not sanguine about the label being respected.

oh... other solution.. fill the bottles to the brim.

That can be dicey in and of itself.

You can attach them to the insides of gyroscopes and put those in the boxes. That way, no matter what the post office does, they'll stay right-side up.

Now there's a thought!

So, I'm not completely sure that orientation is it...I've never had leaks from every bottle of a set all packed together in the same orientation. the most i've ever had are slight leaks in two of six bottles. Usually none, sometimes one.

hmmmm

I'm never going to solve this problem, am I...?

There are so many factors that could be causing leaks. :/ Do the amount of leaks go up considerably during the summer months? I know most mail ends up being flown so there are some serious pressure changes involved also.

I'm guessing there will always be leaks, but have you considered use a tamper resistant seal like you find on food and isopropyl alcohol, nyquil, etc? I'm talking about the tinfoil seals you peal off. Might be something to consider.

I have looked at those seals... the smallest diameter I've been able to find is 20mm. The mouth on the bottles I'm using is around 9mm.

Not sure how that overlap would work out.

Another factor is can the sealer work with a bottle-mouth that small...

It's not an insignificant investment... I have to find somebody that has one that'll let me play with it.

Oh... and, yes, heat does appear to be a major factor. But not the heat here. I know that the post office that I drop the packages off at is fully contained... it's not open to the outside until the trucks pick up or unload, and that's in the early morning/after sundown timeframes.
