It's not quiet here by a long shot.

Got my new surround sound system today and hooked it up to the 60" TV.

All I can say is, it's the next best thing to being in Mordor, Hogwarts, or on onboard the NCC-1701.

Come to think of it, I'd like to see how the orcs would handle a couple photon torpedoes.

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I wonder if Frodo would show up on a tricorder scan if he was wearing the One Ring.

Life is full of compromises, Poe.

That's cheating. My first comment on the quiet was one smiley, snoring on a couch. A few hours later it was 3 of them. Multiplying the couches isn't fair. You need to find one with 5 snoring smileys (4 calling birds, 3 French hens, 2 turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree.)

Trav we have had surround sound for years and we love it!

Yeah me too. This is just an upgrade to my Sony "starter" home theater system. The main reason I upgraded was for Dolby surround format capabilities. The starter system had most of the major formats that are used on like Blu-Rays etc, but couldn't handle Dolby Digital Plus.

Come to find out that Netflix, Vudu, and other streaming services provide DD+ surround if you can use it. When I found that out I just had to have it.
Sure beats the simulated surround from the receiver.

I wasn't expecting that big of a difference when it came to the disc based media, but the clarity, separation, 3D imagery, and overall sound quality is much better with the new system. Not to mention the subwoofer's a lot bigger too. Like I really needed that in a bedroom setup.

Ours does have some age to it and I've been toying with the idea of upgrading. I think you've convince to talk to DH about it!!!

Nice! Wish I could steer you towards the deal I got, but it sold out in no time. Got a $400 setup with receiver and speakers for $150. I'm sure it's gotta be like a close out or last years model or something. but For savings like that I don't care.

LOL for the first test of the streaming surround I went into my Netflix queue and brought up "Super 8". Then I forwarded it to the train wreck scene. It was like... "OH THE HUMANITY!!!"

The explosions and twisting metal, train cars flying through the air and crashing all around you. Ya know, good clean wholesome family fun.

Good morning!

LOTR meets star trek could be fun...but which Enterprise? (and are vulcans related to the elves?)

It's all one gif, Poeia, but the couch wasn't big enough for everyone.....

That works. There's activity here after two days of silence everywhere I go on this forum (hence the snoring.) So a nice conversation area is good.

I have surround sound. My computer in front of me, the birds behind me, and I'm surrounded.
