I agree that a lot of the Chinese flavors really are very clean tasting (simple) and sort of weak compared to a lot of US flavors. I've had very few that I'd call offensive. I started vaping with V4L and I think it's a first rate biz; I send brand new vapers there if they just want a very simple, reliable, satisfying plug-and-play first setup and a buy-it-all-here website (and forum group) with lots of fun and excellent support. Because the flavors are simple they're easy to enjoy.
I remember when that video first came out and I'm glad to see it circulating again - hygiene is definitely not the issue with Chinese juices and I don't think ingredient safety is, either. I just got bored as they all tend to taste the same, "artificial", and seem quite 'meh' compared to the stuff I truly love now.
The choice isn't between "clean" Chinese labs and somebody's filthy backyard shed - there are plenty of US vendors who run a careful, clean shop. And China's factories in general have of course produced some really troublesome foodstuffs (as have American ones). Remember, those factories are producing huge quantities of juice with a lot of workers and all and it makes sense for them to set up that way - but I don't trust a Tootsie Roll more than fudge made locally and sold via a village sweet shop - does anyone, really? When I shop at my local farmer's market I don't automatically envision filthy, dangerous conditions (in fact, that'd be Monsanto et alia).
For me it's six of one and half dozen of the other, and I swing with taste and whatever criteria I use to establish trust in a given vendor.
