Ok, so a few days ago, I got a praxis Derringer rda. I've been using it on my iStick in a single coil configuration with 8 turns of 28ga. Gives about 1.3-1.4 Ohm.

So for the first couple days, completely trouble free, enjoying it. However, as the coil got crudded up, the resistance measured by the iStick and a Vamo started to vary quite a bit, from 1.x to 4.x etc. Worse, with the iStick, I am frequently getting the "no atomizer" warning, right in the middle of a vape session. Pretty often after pulling the drip tip and dripping juice (perhaps pulling it off the centerpin?)

WIth my Russian 91 I would often observe pretty wildly varying resistance and would on occasion get the "no atomizer" out of the blue.

Aspires always work no problem and I have even used the adapter for the Aspires with the Derringer and still get no atomizer. I have pulled the centerpin and am very ginger tightening the RDA on the threads.

What the heck is going on?

You may have contact issues between the wire and the post. I get little explosions sometimes when the contact resistance is enough to boil the juice in the post hole and it kind of pops out of there. When I tried 32 gauge wire, dual coil, sometime neither would be working until pop-pop.

I haven't used that battery, but voltage control mode should produce a stable output even when contact is intermittent. In variable watts, if the circuit is open it needs to output infinite voltage.

Thanks for all the responses. I got grumpy and decided to replace the coil. I had checked screw tightness. But when I pulled the coil off, I noticed some burnt material on the post where the wire goes in. I rubbed that off, turned the coil around (swapping wires and posts) and re-tightened. I have been vaping some stuff that really cruds up coils and apparently it got the post too and kludged up the contact. Anyway, cleaning it up a little solved the problems.
