So? Pretty sure there hasn't been an incident with batteries carried in a plastic case either. One of those will be much cheaper and accessible.

There's never going to be decent coverage of proprietary battery packs for ecigs, you'll run after batteries for your device and pay premium if you can find one. You'll also need a proprietary charger, unless there's a charger built into the pack and then we're back to square one, essentially trusting cheapo mass produced charger circuits, likely increasing the number of accidents while charging.

They're also not hard to fake, same as with power tools, you have a good chance of getting some crud in a plastic case that looks right. Only now our trusted vendors most likely won't have those packs and you'll have to just trust the ability of whoever you're buying from to get genuine ones.

Not sold on that pack idea.

My biggest concern with battery packs is planned obsolescence. If a mod maker wants to force you to buy the "next gen" mod, they simply stop selling battery packs. This is also why I choose to build my own coils. This has already happened with some toppers that use drop in coil heads. It doesn't matter how much you love that tank or mod, if you can't get the required parts anymore, you have to "upgrade".

Packs will NEVER be standardized across manufacturers without a government mandate which I don't see happening anymore than they will mandate packs formats between power tool manufacturers.
Agreed, and even if the bureaucrats were willing, who among us would actually want a government mandated "standard" for battery packs? You can bet it would leave no room for innovation at all.

This is already a problem with cordless tools. There are plenty of older ones that you can't get battery packs for anymore.

We would have very few battery incidents if most vapers were as battery savvy as we are on ECF. Unfortunately we are in the minority and the uninformed are the ones creating the battery headlines that cast vaping in a bad light to the general public.

As ecigs are now broadly marketed consumer devices, the average new vaper is carrying a something they may have seen in a showcase and bought in a couple minutes with little research. There are many uneducated vapers when it comes to battery safety, probably the majority. Most of them are likely unaware of cases, let alone why they are important.

Those are the people that are in need of packs or fixed internal batteries. Additional cost and likely premature obsolescence but convenient and safe for the masses who want no more effort that it took to buy a pack of smokes and a lighter. Still far better than smoking.

The market's increased options for all in one and fixed battery devices will make packs unnecessary for the masses as they'll just buy another new shiny. We who are more knowledgeable will keep our flexibility with replaceable options.

Yeah I have had that problem with power tools which is exactly why I don't want packs for mods. I would seriously buy raw boards and make my own before I would be willing to deal with that nonsense.

It would be great if more brick & mortar and online stores helped out educating new vapers on battery safety. Even if it’s just an info sheet with Dos & Don’ts that gets put in with the purchase.

I don't expect store employees to be able to train each customer in building, ohms law, etc. What I DO expect from them is knowing which things go with what and what not to use at all. Think of it like Best Buy. They give their employees very limited and basic training for their dept. They know which cables are needed to hook up which devices but they aren't going to train you on how to do it (they will sell you a hook up service). So employees in a vape store SHOULD at least know not to use crap batteries.

At the very least they should tell them why you don't put loose batteries in your pocket or purse.
Include a battery box, with each battery sale.
they use to o that at one time several of the battery vendors included battery boxes I have several and I don't think I ever paid for one of them.

Liion Wholesale has gone back to a case for every pair of batteries included in purchase. I love that, great for storage and carry. Bonus is you will have extras to give to someone new to external battery use.

I have been buying batteries from RTD vapors for a long time and they always include a battery case, which is great.
