Alright - so I've searched, because I know I've seen another thread about a possessed diamond battery, but I can't find it...

My lovely purple/white VT1002 XL has apparently decided that it doesn't want to play nice anymore. It was working fine until I plugged it into the new slim charger - as soon as I took it off it started flashing intermittently and won't vape. When I put a carto on and drag, the led lights up, but I get no vapor, just a strange metallic taste and the battery itself gets hot very quickly. Then it flashes 3 times... and a few minutes later it will flash 3 times again... and so on until it cools off.

I tried resetting the post (thanks Morandir) but nothing happened. I only used it for about a week before this, in rotation with about 5 other batts. Full disclosure - I do fill my own, but I'm *very* careful about making sure the carto is dry, with no juice in the air tube, and I have yet to kill any other autos (especially this quickly).

Any suggestions? Do these symptoms sound like a juice leak? What else can I try to revive her?

Thanks,
~krashnash

Ms. Krashnash when I get home will try to duplicate the issue....

Thanks Morandir. I've tried to get my others to behave this way, but can't replicate it, and now I'm scared to plug any of my VT2s into the slim charger (although it works fine with my other batts.....) It's almost like the 3 flashes is a code of some sort, but I can't decipher it. Would be happy to have you lend some superior technical expertise. :)

Speaking of...My replacment diamond was going on by itself. I would set something on the table near it and it went on. made a loud noise it went on. weird. maybe mine and yours are related?

Evil twins? Kissing cousins? Partners in crime? Maybe just the same manufacturing lot... or maybe the 3-blink code means they are planning to take over the world?

krash....does the batt have a burnt smell to it as well? The connector end that is;)
Maybe a little? More metallic smell than burnt though.

So......what happens when you put it on your old charger?

:pop::pop::pop:

:p

USB charger = nothing. Doesn't blink, light on the charger stays blue. Just put it on the standard wall charger, and the led didn't blink but the charger light did turn red.:blink::confused:

I have maybe recharged it 5 or 6 times. *But* I did buy it off the ECF Classifieds, so while I was told it was new, I don't have a way to confirm that.

Snow...she said she has used it for a week in rotation with about 5 other batts;)

Sorry Krash...didn't see your post as I was posting this one:D Reason I asked is I had a brand new stealth that after charging, it got super hot and had the smell of burnt electronics.....it fried.

The charger was brand new, the battery was not. But it wasn't very old either... and yep - maybe that smell is the smell of burnt electronics... just weird that if the battery's fried it would still activate the led...

Well, as mine was a stealth, I cannot comment on the led part:laugh: I do know that after my incident, I was too afraid to put it on a charger again....filled out a ticket and got it replaced. I don't know what caused it, but right outta the package it went to the charger to top off the charge if it needed it. Charger still works, but the batt was done:(

No fear here, (have fire extinguisher, know how to use it), except the fear of losing another diamond to the new charger... I've been checking it every few minutes on the other charger for the last half hour or so - it's not getting hot, dunno if it's charging or not. Light never changed to green on the charger. Took it off and screwed a carto on - led comes on when inhaling but no vapor, and when I take the carto off I get blink blink blink. And then blink blink blink again a couple times.

I don't know that I can fill out a ticket on it, unless the warranty transfers to a new owner - the new Vapor Titans have only been out for a couple months, I don't think it's the age of the battery that is the problem. :/ I'm concerned that if it isn't user error then it may be the charger... Not willing to sacrifice another one to find out though...

Hmmm. I just received a replacement for my new XL manual battery that "fried" on my new charger. After plugging it in for a charge, lit up, stayed lit and then the smell of burnt electronics. The LED would not go out for awhile. Scared me so I took it outside in case it blew or caught fire!! Damn thing was possessed! V4L to the rescue, it's all good now!

No other issues with the charger though, SAG?

I don't know how it could be replaced since I don't think warranty transfers without an invoice. That is weird, I just received some Slim Line Chargers (video in progress) and tossed on a couple of my V2's and it seemed to work just fine.

So......

I doubt that the warranty transfers either - I was hoping someone had some sort of fix, but I think what I got instead was confirmation that it is fried. Hopefully the problem is with the batt and not the charger... The purple batt was my *favorite* though. Sniff....

Ms. Krashnash so far have been unable to duplicate the issue, but pretty sure it's fried. Since it was on the classifieds, there's alot of question marks on what it had been through before arriving to you.... Have to agree it's fried, question is why....

Ms. Keelalagirl do you still have that batt by any chance?

Yes I do somewhere....do you want it?

I just had the same thing happen on a new diamond. along with a new charger. In my case the charger and battery are now being replaced by v4l the charger is completely dead. The battery does same thing as OP's. It does not charge, when hooked up to carto it lights up but no vape, and then flashes three times. Even without taking a drag, puting the carto on and off begins the lights blinking in a 3 light pattern. I am not much help to the problem but your not alone.
