I think it's because Gatwick is my local ParcelForce depot (to Brighton), not because it's an airport

Before that it says:

9/6/2015 2:14 Gatwick Depot Loaded to vehicle for delivery
9/6/2015 2:13 Gatwick Depot Received at delivery depot
8/6/2015 20:51 National Hub Received and processed

I looked up the National Hub, it's in Coventry. So maybe it comes into Coventry airport, or else it came into Heathrow, went up to Coventry, then back down to Gatwick and on to me :)

What's the status of your 2380? Will it ship soon?

OK

The v2 is still on its way back :(

Just checked and it looks like it is in the van for delivery to the Greeks ;) Hopefully I will hear from Spyridos this afternoon!!!

Main first impression: As I expected, having one button on any mod, let alone one this complicated, is the work of a sadist.

I'm getting the hang of it already, and they implemented it the best way it could be done, but it's still totally ......ed. They could have put a second button on without the slightest problems. Or if they wanted to be fancy, put a slightly wider, flat button that can be pressed on the left or the right, like a mouse button. Or a make it stick out a fraction more, and allow it to be pressed in, and toggled left/right or up/down.

Anything except this!

I also hate the way when I set one thing, I then have to wait for timeout and go back into the menu to scroll onto the next thing to set - unless I'm missing a way to both change something and move onto the next menu item?

Second impression: The screen does not stay on while vaping which I do not like, I can see the end result (temp/ohms) but not how it progresses as the vape continues. Not the end of the world because I could keep stopping the vape and looking, but still annoying. Also given how much is configurable, it's weird this cannot be changed, nor does it seem to be possible to configure how long the screen stays on for post-vape, which is also daft.

Third: It's really heavy in the hand. I guess that's more the shape of it, it's hard to hold in one hand as I type as I am now - less to grip. I'm used to holding my VF on one hand while still typing with both hands, and that has two batteries in it - this surely weighs less with only one 18650 in it, but feels like it's hard to hold. But it's a tube, they suck :) I'll see what it's like while driving, I'm going out in a minute.

Fourth: It vapes well :) Resistherm coil I already had built, using default Coefficient of 320, vaping well.

Fifth: And I'm loving some of the configurabilty like minimum Volts, and showing me total used Mah. That's really nice.

Sixth: What's meant to be the problem with °F TempDown? Does it not work at all, obviously? If so, works fine for me. However when I set it to 440°F the screen says it stopped at 470°F so I guess that's the same issue you all described. Back to °C.

Must go out now, more later :)

2380 owners: Is the number engraved around the 510 connection a serial number? What does yours says? If it is a serial, mine is really low - 0036. In which case my working °F TempDown might be because I have an earlier batch, not later.

Incidentally, it did occur to me that the °F temperature inaccuracy doesn't necessarily have to be the actual temperature - it could just be the display. Has anyone verified that the temperature definitely feels wrong in the vape?

I assume they use °C for all internal calculations, and convert back and forth to °F as necessary.

So it could be they make the 32 mistake for the actual temp calcs, ie the input temperature from the configuration to the temp sensing code, or it could be that they make it just for the display - the output temperature from the temp sensor to the display.

I'll see if I can verify the validity of the temperature shown on screen.

btw flat ops or button for the 500s and 350s?? Any preferences??

Did you see my various battery posts from late last night? I was originally going to go with AW button tops but ultimately balked at spending £10 per battery for a 350 or 500, so I've got AWT batteries that have same capacity, nearly as high amps (eg 10.5A AWT vs 12A AW on the 350, 16A vs 18A on the 500s), are rated good by Lygate, and are literally half the price - best availability is eBay, there's a UK vendor who tests all their batteries with graphs and look very good. I can send you a link if you want.

So my recommendation for price/performance ratio are the AWT 18490 1200mah and the AWT 18350 800mah, about £5 each. I bought two of each for £20 total including delivery.

Cloud9 have the AWs but at the aforementioned high prices - £40 for four + delivery.

23 Flushes:

(excuse the somewhat unsexy drip tip!)

My freebie

No idea if I'll like it, I'm not huge on tobacco; but hey, it's free (Steve you should politely point out that your upgrade puts you over the €150 freebie level so you're entitled to either this or a 5ml glass bottle with dropper :) )

I also got the Resistherm free sample: 0.5m, worth €0.65 / £0.50, not exactly super generous. I suppose they'll hope it'll be the free wrap that gets you hooked..

Haha, it's like the dealer that gives you a free sample when you first meet...they expect a return on investment...but they don't want to give you too much, just enough so you know you'll like it :D

:)

So here's a real practical problem - what the hell am I meant to do with it when I want to stop vaping it? I really need to get a stand or something :)

In the meantime.. couple of bits of a sponge, and that iStick 50W has finally find a new purpose in life! First time it's been used in weeks.

I'll be just happy to get the 2380. Now they are out of stock :( New batch on thursday, dispatch Friday so might get it by next wednesday now. On the upside, the new batch might have the F fix but I doubt it...what a faff!

Patiently awaiting my two (2) 2380s (stacking rings not telescopic) from Spain to the US. The vendor couriered the package from his small village to Madrid and the courier handed it off to FedEx yesterday. Just got to New Jersey (US) this morning and is on its way to the next hub. My guess is I'll have both in-hand on Friday -- but I leave town this Thursday so they'll just mock me from home until I'm back next week.

The oF bug sounds crappy but I prefer using oC anyway since that's what almost everyone online that I read will post numbers in.

Also ordered the Resistherm wire and have some Titanium grade 1 that I ordered a few months ago and never used.

More excited with the 18350 than with stacking anything. I'm a low wattage guy now (downgraded from 150W to 50W to 30W now to 15W and am happier than ever).

There aint nothing wrong with going to lower wattage. My most favorite juice is too strong for high watts. Plus you get better battery life and juice conservation.

Great pics @IanDVaypes , thanks!

I can't imagine I'm going to use 2x18650 much even though I paid extra for the stupid tube :)

However I can imagine using 2x350 or 2x490 - double voltage, and more than double battery life compared to 1x of those batteries (because of the reduced voltage drop, as I learnt yesterday from the manual!)

What I'll be interested to see is the battery life of 2x1200mah 490s compared to 1x 2500mah Samsung 650. I assume the Samsung might still edge it, but maybe not by much. Of course that's not a very close size comparison. What would be nice is if 2x800mah 350 was comparable, but I don't see that happening.

I'm really liking both the Total mAH display, and the info on battery drop. That has already taught me that my EFest 3100mah batteries are crap. I knew people say they are, but I had thought that was more in total lifetime.

But now I can see that I was getting up to 0.8V voltage drop towards the end of the battery, and even with the minimum battery setting set to 2.5V I got only 2100mah out of the 3100mah batteries. Very illuminating! I've now got a Samsung 25R in there and it's showing voltage drop of 0.2 - 0.4V (albeit at higher voltages so far) so I'm hopeful I'll get at least the same capacity as the EFest, and maybe even a bit more.

I was at first a bit disappointed to find that the "min battery" setting was after voltage drop - at first I thought a setting of 2.7V meant that when the battery was taken out of the mod, it would read 2.7V. But of course that's not the case - that EFest when I removed it still had a huge 3.3V left, because of the huge voltage drop. Though given my basic Kangxin Mini VF also drained the same battery down to 3.3V, I'm still not sure if being able to set the min battery is going to make much difference in reality versus other mods - I was hoping it was going to let me drain the batteries much further - I never understood why batteries rated as drainable to 2.5-2.7V would never be lower than 3.1-3.2V when taken out of a mod, but I see now voltage drop plays a big part.

I might get a Sony VTC4 as everyone raves about them; up until now I assumed the 2100mah wasn't worth it versus the 2500mah Samsung, but theoretically if they drop voltage less they could give more usable capacity.

So all this has given me more things to geek obsess over, and that's always nice :)

Yeah, my efest 3100 mah turned into my chip set test battery. I've soldered wire leads on both sides. It actually has less than 10 amps. So it's great if you want to vape at low watts.thanks for pointing out the battery moniter, I haven't noticed it. I had my low battery set at 3.0 volts and my dicodes quit at 3pm yesterday, my samsung 25rs last me til 7 pm at least. This is when I've learned the voltage sag as well. I then set it to the lowest and it lasted me til bed time at 3.4 resting voltage (more life to spare!) Believe me, I was trying to kill my battery when I got home and got nic sick. I'm very surprised by how much more life I've gotten out of it than my dna mods. Also, my experience has been that the samsung 25rs will last me longer than my vtc4s. Unless you vape at 30+ watts you won't really benefit from the vtc4. So today, I'm going to see how much mah I'll actually get out of my new aw 18350. I only vape at 16 watts because I don't like to waste my ejuice.
