Hehe I can't get Tensai in the UK but you know where I can get it? Greek Mods! Who already shipped my second shipment today. Well maybe they did, it doesn't actually display on DHL's tracking yet. They might have only printed the label.

I didn't think of Greek for batteries because i wasn't sure about shipping batteries overseas. But now I check DHL it looks like it should be possible, there's a limit on 8 batteries per shipment for 2700mah+ batteries and no limit for lower.

Then again those AWs do look a bit better - not quite as high discharge Amps but high enough, and slightly higher Mah. The 18490 button top should surely fit, only question is whether there's any issue with 18350 button top with non-telescopic.

@dems86 do you use your telescopic piece for the 18350, or is that a tube piece?

I don't use the tele piece for 350 or 500 (both of which I use AW button tops) ;)

Here's another 18350 possibility:

AWT IMR 18350 - Vapetime UK | The UK's best electronic cigarettes (e-cigs), e-liquid and e-smoking supplier

Same capacity as the AW (800mah), 10.5A versus 12A. Good review on Lygate.

The advantage? Literally half the price of the AWs! Paying £9.95 for a 800mah 12A battery - nearly 50% more than I pay for 2500mah 20A Samsungs - just feels wrong :) I'm sure high-amp in a smaller package is harder, but still.

And an 18490 equivalent:

AWT 18490 - Vapetime UK | The UK's best electronic cigarettes (e-cigs), e-liquid and e-smoking supplier

1100mah versus 1200mah, and 16.5A vs 18A, but both are still OK.

More importantly, 25% cheaper.

I think I'm gonna try the AWTs - I put 2xAW 18350 and 2x18500 on my basket at Cloud9 vaping and the price was £40! FORTY! It was just wrong :)

There's gotta be better/cheaper places to buy batteries than Amazon, no? Maybe I'm wrong, I've never ordered from Amazon, usually RTD Vapor or Illumn, but I imagine there must be UK or EU variants of those.

Yeah, eBay :)

But if you mean vape shops - nope, doesn't seem so for batteries. They all seem to charge a little to a lot more. A good example is the ubiquitous Samsung 25R - my favourite UK vape shop, myepack.co.uk, sells them for £6 each, where I can get 2 for £10.50 (£5.25 ea) on eBay.

And those wonderful folk at UK ECig Store sell them for £9 - a full 50% more than cheaper vape shops, and close to double the price per battery on eBay.

In the case of UKEcig, they sell for rip-off prices Because They Can; they have a big enough brand and enough people who presumably just keeps shopping there and nowhere else that they can, and do, charge what they like pretty much.

In the case of the more reasonable vendors, it's probably about volume - a vape shop might buy and re-sell tens of batteries of a given type a week, an eBay guy who only does batteries will be doing hundreds or even thousands.

Of course eBay vendors might also feel they have to undercut a bit - because people worry about eBay (is it genuine? etc), and go there expecting low prices.

But in the case of My ePack, I reckon he would sell lower than £6 if he could - he's awesome on price and service. So it must just be the price that's economical for him given the volumes he can shift.

Actually I'm going for the AWT 18490s, which are measured at just under 1200mah (about 1150, both at 1A and 10A) - the important difference being that Lygate measured two cells and found different capacities on the 18500s, which he describes as making them unsuitable for series usage.

I meant more along the lines of battery and electronics shops and what not.

Illumn has nothing to do with vape, so I figured maybe a place like that.

Strangely not - it seems these 'measurement numbered' batteries (16xxx, 18xxx, etc) are not at all common in the UK. For example I just checked a site called Budget Batteries that has hundreds of types, and they don't sell a single 18xxx or 16xxx or 14xxx type. Another general battery site did, but at prices way higher than I've been quoting. And the general electronics stores don't have them at all.

My Dad has always had a huge range of torches for some reason, many with changeable batteries, but before vaping I had literally never heard of or seen an 18xxx battery. Every big torch he has had has used 3x or 4x D cells (sometimes C), and those can be found in every supermarket, electronic store and all the rest. They're 1.5V so stacking three gets you 4.5V. Not very space efficient, but they are very high capacity - like 10-20Ah I gather.

Not sure why that is - maybe for historical reasons we've tended to use the C and D cells in torches/flashlights, and so they never became popular and so no-one made torches that use them and so no-one stocks them. If you search for something like 18500 or 18650, you will find three types of site: eBay, Amazon, and for vaping; and even the eBay/Amazon listings usually mention 'for vapers' prominently. Pretty much nowhere else.

Search flashlight vendors and forums in your area for better prices and reputable vendors of batteries.

Those flashlight folks are even more serious about batteries than we are.

I actually did - there are no UK torch/flashlight forums. I think this might be indicative of why 18xxx/16xxx/14xxx batteries are not big here - apparently flashlight fever has not really reached us :)

I did find one more supplier of the batteries, a UK torch specialist, and they had some brands I'd not heard of like Cyrac. Prices not bad, but still not better than vaping places and eBay.

my v2 came via heathrow I think...odd!

I think it's because Gatwick is my local ParcelForce depot (to Brighton), not because it's an airport

Before that it says:

9/6/2015 2:14 Gatwick Depot Loaded to vehicle for delivery
9/6/2015 2:13 Gatwick Depot Received at delivery depot
8/6/2015 20:51 National Hub Received and processed

I looked up the National Hub, it's in Coventry. So maybe it comes into Coventry airport, or else it came into Heathrow, went up to Coventry, then back down to Gatwick and on to me :)

What's the status of your 2380? Will it ship soon?
