Got an email from ukecig store. They want me to send the mod back. I don't know if I want to though... Am I bothered that the mod is flawed considering how much I spent? Yes, do I care if I have to use it in Celsius? No. I dunno what I want to do [emoji19]
In your shoes, if I was considering returning it, I would want 100% confirmation from ECig Store that they have a fixed unit to replace it with immediately. They might have given you a generic "return it to us and we'll look at it" without actually having a fixed unit to replace it with or even knowing how it will be fixed. Worst case you return it, and a week after receiving it they say "yup, you're right! We'll keep it until Dicodes send us a fix, not sure when that will be."
Hopefully that
is worst case, because it's unlikely to be the first they've heard of it, so they may well be saying that in the expectation of knowing how to fix it. But i would want 100% confirmation, particularly in light of our now knowing it's a problem across the range and so must have been there for a little while.
I'd tell ECig that I now know it affects all Dicodes chips, and ask them if they have already been told by Dicodes it will be replaced/fixed and if so, how long will that take after return?
The whole thing is made worse in your case because you're in the US, returning to a UK supplier, who then has to return to Germany. The very best case is that at the time they receive yours they already have fixed units from Dicodes to swap for, but that's unlikely.
More likely is you send it over taking 1-2 weeks, they take 3 days to 'check' it, then they send it to Germany which takes 3-4 days, then they wait 3 days for Dicodes to check it, then it takes 3-4 days to arrive back from Dicodes, then it takes 1-2 weeks for that to reach you. Which could be six weeks total!
Have they already confirmed that they will pay your postage costs in returning it to them, if you did?
