Did anyone out there quit analogs first, and then start vaping?

Hi all!

I'm new to vaping. In fact, I have yet to try it. My VK should be here tomorrow, and I'm so pumped!!

The thing is, I quit smoking analogs three weeks ago today (Yay, me!). Is there anyone else out there who quit smoking, and then decided that they wanted to vape?

I got zero nic carts, because I haven't had any nicotine (gum) in over a week and just don't feel like I need it. However, I miss smoking so much! I don't want to have a moment of weakness and go back to analogs, so to me, this is the best option.

I've been teased a little by my family for it, and I try to explain it to them...that I'm more likely to stay quit this way...but they just roll their eyes.

I'm so excited!!! I feel like a kid at Christmas!! :D

There may be some people out there that don't understand the mind games that come along with smoking.

Isn't that the truth?

I don't get angry with them, because I don't expect them to understand. I try to put it this way:

If you're overweight and have tried diet after diet, and then discover this chocolate bar that tastes like chocolate and gives you the same enjoyment that chocolate does, but doesn't have any calories, fat, or sugar in it, wouldn't you eat it?

I mean, seriously. Isn't it essentially the same idea?

Congrats, btw!

Yea, I would! Who wouldn't? Chocolate tastes good and puts people in better moods.
I quit prior to vaping too, but I knew sooner or later i'd get tempted again like I always did, I just enjoyed smoking so much but it was making my lungs feel like they were being skinned over and over.
Vaping is every plus of a smoke, without every negative.

I DID !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I quit cold turkey September 12th, 2007 ... Found ecigs about 8-9 months later, rest is history ...

Like I warn many many people .... ECigs can be a great quit smoking aide -- although not advertised as such -- but it can also be a gateway back in to the nicotine grind ...

I started vaping at 0mg (no nicotine) and now use 11mg daily, and was as high as 16mg and 24mg on some days .... trying to work my way back down ... would love to be at the 4-5 mg mark within the next couple weeks ...

How do you calculate that? Is it the nicotine level of the liquid multiplied by X number of cc's? What's the equation?

(I'm just curious, it's not important to me -- I'm happy to be a nicotine fiend without inhaling carcinogens)

hey Brachinus ... I was referring to the strength of liquid I use .... Strengths vary from 0mg (no nicotine) all the way to I believe 48mg or higher.

CC = ML I believe ... right? Either way ... I use about 5ml per day -- A PV is NEVER far from my lips ... Average user uses about 2-3ml I believe.

So ... I use 11mg liquid at 5ml per day ... :) So ... That would calculate to something like 55mg total for the day if using a single ML. 11mg = 1.1% by volume ...

Quit cold turkey for close to one year. Had a stretch in my 11th month where I was just sure that I was going to break down and buy a pack. Came across this forum and started out with a 510 and no-nic juice. Just to be able to simulate the habit was enough to take away the last remaining desire that I had for analogs.
I've since ordered a VK, Janty Stick and recently a Protege. I mix my own juice with VG or PG, flavor to taste with any number of the flavors that are available and add a bit of vodka to thin a provide a throat hit.
I got over the smokers cough and wheezing a number of months ago. I typically will only vape in the evenings and have now been doing so for a bit over three months. None of those smoker symptoms have returned. So, call me crazy, but it's work really well for me.

I quit cold turkey Oct. 2008, from 2.5 packs a day for 25 years to nothing. I gained 35 lbs. and ate all the time. So in July 09 I started smoking again, since then I've lost the 35 lbs I gained while smoke-free, but I hated all the nastyness of smoking. Then I found the e-cigs, the perfect choice for me, still get my nicotine which keeps me from gaining weight and eating, also gives me a much pleasanter attitude. I plan on vaping the rest of my life. I'm happy.

I "quit" (aka, stopped buying, really) some time back, cheating here or there just because I always liked the act of smoking, and sometimes the taste for some reason. I'd been studying and researching the e-cigarettes for quite some time, and lately got that itch that I just wanted to have a smoke. Moreover, I wanted the feel of it. That was pretty much what pushed me to buy one. But I was itching for it while waiting. I was pretty impressed: I was given a 7-10 business days estimate on shipping, and got it in 3 business days. So thankfully I didn't have to wait long. ^_^ It's been a very pleasing, and thankfully appeasing, experience so far.

Well I started smoking when I was 12 on and off, my dad smoked so I just stole his. Then when I hit 15 I started smoking regularly in high school. You think $5 a pack is ridiculous, I remember when it was $1 a cig lol. Then my parents finally gave up on trying to get me too stop and said they would let me smoke if I quit at school, which that didn't hold up either and ended up quitting high school over it (basically they told me next time I get caught, they was going to expel me, and I said see' ya). So anyways, kept smoking until I was 17 and got a real bad cough and felt my chest was going to explode, quit for a month on my own. Then I picked them back up, and smoked till I was 23 yrs and 1 day old, and smoked my last analog on the way to the mailbox to get my 510 kit and 60ml of juice and haven't had one since and don't plan on it. I'm going to always have my juices, atty's, chargers, and batts handy and plenty of stock. Just wish my girlfriend would switch to an e-cig, she stinks lol. Keeps telling me she is just going to go cold turkey.

I was older than that, but had the same experience. Chest got tight, and I also started getting a strange feeling like my heart was replaced by butterflies (only way I can think of to describe it). Had to set them aside for a while to let myself recover. That was a big wake-up for me, though.

You can read my story here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ed-nearly-10-years-yet-i-want-try-e-cigs.html
and here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ng/29986-i-asked-my-dr-about-e-ciagretts.html

I think it has helped me a lot. I have switched to diet soda and am eating better. Before I resisted that because I had given up most everything I enjoyed and food was all I had left. My blood pressure has come down and I just feel better. Other than my wife's reaction everything has been positive.

I have taken some heat on the forum from others stating that vaping is only for smokers and I have no business vaping. If I do I will either bring the wrath of the FDA or I will go back to analogs. My thing is, up until now no matter how long I had been smoke free, deep down I felt I was still a smoker. At some point my heath was going to get so bad or circumstances were going to get so bad that at any point I would pick it back up again. Foolish, but that is how I felt. Since I have found vaping, I can honestly say I could go the rest of my life with out a cigarette.

Some people vape just long enough to get them off analogs, some switch from analogs to e cigs. Some instantly, others take a break in between. Good luck with your choice.
