Usually a hot spot where it connects to positive post. I've tried everything mentioned on the forum.etc Oxidizing, cig paper, etc.also having wicking problems...just about ready to junk the did! Don't know what the problem is, making a perfect coil steadily around 1.9-2.0 ohms. I really think the did is a great concept and I see others having success with it, but I haven't had any at all.

I was having the same problem until I started making sure when you get to the top, wind halfway over to keep the last coil in shape, but then unbend it without having the coil try to unwind itself. This stopped the tension at the top of my coils that seemed to be pulling the coil into the wick. Burn it with a flame, blow the ash , and connect it, but be very careful there is no tension pulling at the top of your wick. Remove the pin then do some dry burns till you don't smell paper, fill and go. (I use a t-pin & paper) My coils are consistant 2.8~ with the mystery wire it came with.
