I am wondering how many of us really starting vaping as a definite means to quit. In regards to the FDA's claims making it sound like many of us were ready to quit and picked up ecigs instead. I know I tried it for something different, cheaper, etc, but after smoking for 25 years, never really bought them with the intent of quitting smoking. It is almost really like a pleasant side effect.
I had a rough day yesterday, 2 hours in court, and after vaping for a month, had a half an analog. It was so gross I couldnt finish it! :p
So would a poll be interesting to see if people actually bought these expecting to quit smoking with them?

I had been trying to quit for 10 years trying all the Big Pharm NRT's that simply don't work. I knew almost immediately that this would do the trick, IF I could find a device that would provide at least a modest amount of consistency. Cut down from about 25-30 a day to 8 with the 901. After getting the Screwdriver, I quit completely the first of April. Now with the Prodigy and the Screwdriver I know that analogs are gone for good. In addition, all the support from so many good folks on this forum was a big help.

I most definitely got into e-cigs in hopes of quitting. Having tried gum, the patch, and cold turkey in the past, I thought that this sounded very promising since it pretty much covers all aspects of smoking analogs (well, without the stench and major health risks). So far me & my wife are on day two of no analogs. Doing pretty good so far but occasionally wanting an analog. I'd really like to be done with them!

The FDA can jump in a lake. I am all for safety, but they are going about this all wrong and trying to make e-cigs look to be worse than analogs.

Jen.....I had actually quit for a month before I tried vaping. As that was my second attempt at quitting(previous length was 3 months),I most assuredly would have went back to analogs.I have been analog free for over 7 months now thanks to e-cigs.To answer the question you posted...I would never have expected to quit analogs altogether like I did,but will always be thankful for e-cigs and this forum!:)The Wiz!

Yeah, I had it in my mind to quit when I got my first e-cig. It was a leap of faith because all the other nicoteen delivery things out there (patches, lozenges, gum etc) had the effect of making me want to smoke more than when I started.

E-cig is actually my delivery system of choice now. Cigarettes coming in a poor second.

As for quitting now. Well, I'm in no rush :)

I never wanted to quit smoking,I just wanted to stop paying all the crooks in politics who are reaping a windfall from one of the deadliest habit on the planet.Once I switched to PV's and discovered how I felt, well, let's just say I'm not going back.Sometimes the tree of liberty must be refreshed with the blood of tyrants and patriots.

I sure did. As solitary1 said, one motivating factor was the increase in taxes (I am frugile, OK cheap) but stopping the filthy habit was a bigger motivator. Been 3 months since I got my first ecig. I have not really quit yet. I had 5 analogs this week but that's way better than a 1 1/2 pack a day habit. Seems I am still surrounded by smokers and if I have a drink I get weak. But it is so disgusting I can only chock dowm 1 before I realize I don't even want it.

I picked them up with the intention of being able to breathe better and not smell terrible all the time. After only a couple weeks, I can breathe much better...and I think I smell better... :p

I would say that I started vaping in order to quit cigarettes, but not nicotine. I still think it's crazy how I have absolutely ZERO urge to smoke an analog.

One thing that I have noticed is that if I go a lot of hours at work when I'm super busy, I won't even realize that I haven't vaped. This would have never happened with an analog, as I'd be wanting one within an hour or two.

I agree with this. After a month or so of a relapse with analogs I am heading back to vaping again. To much stress at school I just fell back off. Now I saved up enough to get the PV I have been wanting and I am heading back to vaping permanently. And glad to be back.

All I wanted was to get rid of cigarette smell from my breath and my close.
See, my family knows that I quit 8 years ago but I still was smoking at work, while fishing, walking the dog and so on... when I know it will be enough time for smell to dissipate.
I was an underground smoker, very frustrating.
Switched to VP without an intent to quit smoking but I did on the very first day and at 100+ days.
I am still an underground vaper.
One day will come out of the closet, one step at a time...

No quitting for me, just E-Cig as delivery system of choice. Only been a week and analogs already taste like crap.

Right now I'm still caught with the in-between urge. Vape away but get the urge for the Analog. Light one up and quickly return to the PV.

I'm sure I will be leaving analogs behind very soon.

Smoked about a pack and a half in 8 days time with the PV and mostly becasue I ran out of juice or Battery while at a bar.

Yes, and if your the FDA and are reading this- it's so simple.

I couldn't stop smoking, I couldn't breathe correctly, I was addicted to cigarettes and the nicotine in them. The cigarettes were killing me. The e cig is giving me my nicotine without killing me. I won't go back to cigarettes and I will continue to vape, no matter what laws are made- so stick that in your PV and Vape it!
