I've a decent mini theatre set up at home so I know you don't need to blow massive clouds for the vapor to be easily noticeable and cause a distraction to others in a theater.
Your sitting in a dark room with a high intensity light beam behind you projecting an image in front of you. Any amount of smoke/vape crosses that light beam and it will be seen. So in this scenario, It may bother a few people...
God forbid someone sees the vapor, thinks "smoke" and yells out "fire" in the crowded theater causing all kinds of panic
People like you are the reason for all these new regulations popping up all over.![]()
You quit smoking. That's great. Do you really need to vape EVERYWHERE you go? I see people who walk into grocery stores vaping massive clouds. They can't go 15 minutes into a store without hitting their PV... That's kinda sad imho
As for the fire thing. Yeah i wasnt serious, but you know how some people can be. Lol
Actually no. I dont think, I know the person is doing something he's not supposed to be doing if I see them vaping in the theater. The fact that you need to be stealthy about it shows that you kinda know it too. ;-)
A bad stealth vapor may be disruptive to others in the theater as well. Not saying your bad at it. I just know alotta people who 'think' their being stealthy.
If you do it and no one sees you then no one knows so you didnt do it. ;-) Good for you, but If someone does catch you, don't be surprised if your asked to stop or asked to leave if you refuse to stop.
Think if you went to a friends house and your asked not to vape in his house. Would you respect that or would you stealth vape when he's not looking? Doesn't matter what his reasons are. You wouldn't vape in his house right?

1st I would like to say I vape like I wear cologne- moderate as not to offend.
As far as cow towing to people and running around like the sky is falling because they may ban vaping, They are going to try to do that regardless imho, but I would suggest that Vapers read the following before giving up their rights so easily.
First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me--
and there was no one left to speak out for me.
I really don't get this concept. "If we don't treat it like smoking, then they will regulate it to be just like smoking".
They may do that. They may pass laws everywhere to say "Vaping must be treated the same as smoking, you are only allowed to vape where you can smoke". They may do that whether we vape in public or not.
But what you are asking is for us to do it to ourselves. Treat is as if those laws already exist. Stand in the smoking section and come back inside reeking of smoke. Freeze when it is cold outside, get wet when it's raining, because we're acting like smokers.
My plan is to be reasonable and try not to piss people off, but to vape more or less wherever I want. In some cases, like the movie theater, I'll stealth vape. In others (in most) I vape openly.
I've been doing it that way for two years, and nobody ever complains. Nobody ever says "Hey, you can't do that" or anything similar. The only time it even almost came up, in a large bar, a bouncer comes up and tells me I can't smoke. I show him my PV and tell him I'm not smoking. He repeats "can't smoke", I repeat", "Not Smoking". He says "You need to talk to the manager" and points across the room. (I'm pretty sure the manager had seen my vapor across the room and sent the guy over.) So I go over to talk to the manager. Before I even get to him, he see's me walking up, see's my PV, and says "Oh, it's one of those. You are fine". He knew what it was. The only reason he sent the bouncer over is because he thought I was smoking. The bouncer didn't know about vaping - but I'm sure he does now. And now, at that same bar, lots of people vape, including some of the bartenders/waitresses.
Vaping in public helps bring it around people who aren't familiar with it. They learn that it isn't like smoking. They learn that it doesn't smell like smoking. (And for most people, the "I hate smoking" stigma is due primarily to the smell.)
It makes sense to be considerate. If there are kids all around you, you shouldn't vape openly, and even stealth vaping you need to be very, very stealthy. The more crowded it is, the more picky you should be. But if we treat it exactly like smoking, we're stigmatizing ourselves, and it doesn't matter if *they* pass laws about "You can vape only in places where you are allowed to smoke" because in that case, we've already done it to ourselves.
I'm not smoking, and I'm not going to pretend like I am smoking.
I'm not smoking, so no, I'm not going to treat it like I am. Granted, I'll be respectful and make sure I'm not blowing plumes of smoke everywhere I go. I mainly do that at home because I can, but indoors and in public I keep it to myself.
Giving in and only vaping where smoking is allowed is pretty much letting the government already walk all over you, I refuse to do that.
No offence but if you seriously can't sit down and enjoy a movie for 2-3 hours without fiending for a smoke/vape maybe you shouldn't be going to the theater.
My exwife said I ate popcorn to noisy in a theaterSome people feel they have a right to control everything that anyone around them does. This time it's you.
It would be very similar to me throwing a hissy fit and calling you names because you ate popcorn at the theater and I could smell it.
The main thing is, if no one knows you're doing it, how can it be offensive?

Thank you...People with your mentality are pathetic.
...and thank you again. I do not understand why a person who just wants to enjoy a vape during a movie has to be defined as "fiending" or "in need of professional help". This response shows up too often in these type threads & it makes me crazy.I'm not "fiending", I'm enjoying something while enjoying something else. I'm not scraping bugs off my skin. Expand your mind a little bit. Self-righteous, much? Throw the first stone.
