Nope! Never intended to quit a 53 yr 2+ PAD habit. I started researching on line the BLU ecigs I'd heard about on the radio 2-3 yrs before to use them as a "temporary" measure while on a 10 day visit to non smoking relatives in Alaska in Oct. It gets cold in Oct. in Alaska and I always smoked outside when visiting them.

Started my search in mid July on the Blu then it went to the Egos and from there to mods. Hadn't bought anything yet. Next was to find a local B&M to hold these things in my hand and possibly be taught how to use these devices plus sample some juices. Found one 13 miles away. Wound up buying a MVP V.1 and 6 15ml bottles of various juices.

Started vaping on Aug.5th last yr. and decided this new thing wasn't bad at all. Mind you, I had two full cartons of cigs still in the cabinet. After all, I wasn't quitting! This was "temporary' and I was practicing! 6 1/2 mos later the full cartons are still in the cabinet and I'm having a ball. I've not been so pleased or happy in a long, long time.

Maybe I tricked myself or would just allow myself to smoke if I wanted to; but I didn't have the urge to, so I didn't. Nobody is more surprised than me. I did not plan on quitting......go figure.

The first time I gave up smoking I kind of meant too, but hadn't actually planned for it. I had been smoking 3 years, my boyfriend's parents came to visit and I had a hard time smoking around them since they absolutely despised it (even though their son smoked too). They visited for 3 days and during that time I had maybe 3 cigarettes. When they finally left, I ran to go smoke and the cigarettes tasted awful since I hadn't had one in awhile. Decided it was time to quit and did so cold turkey (even though I always wanted to smoke after that). My boyfriend also quit with me.

Fast forward 3 years. Started smoking again. My boyfriend was pretty upset about it since I had quit for so long. He went on V2 and bought my first e-cig starter kit and a sampler of all their flavors. Felt pretty guilty so I gave it a go, I really liked their grape flavor at the time. Ever since then I quit the analogs and have been 100% ecigs.

First allow me to jump in and congratulate you all. My quit was intentional. I walked out the front door and made a conscious decision to either go right to the store & grab a few packs of cigarettes or left to public transportation & take that 2 hr ride to the nearest smoke shop.

The kit & juice I bought cost twice as much in the store than it would've online but at the time I didn't know that & even if I had known I probably wouldn't have cared. I wanted to stop smoking NOW- not a couple of days from now.

I never thought I'd actually just become tired of everything related to smoking.

Tired of stinking.
Tired of the cigarette smoke look you get from people who don't smoke- they tend to look at you like you're dirty.
Tired of having to go outside & *rush* to take a few puffs before having to rush back indoors.
Tired of my house reaking.
Tired of nasty ashtrays in every room.
Tired of my breath knocking me on my own ....

Just TIRED!

I'm another accidental/incidental stopper of smoking. My husband said "Why don't we try those and see what happens?"

I no longer smoke, but I think he's actually smoking more. He just can't get into vaping.

That being the case with your husband it does happen more often than you think. They just can't get into vaping.

Many times it's the juices that just aren't hitting it for them. Depending on what he smokes he may need help in finding a juice that taste more like cigarette.

No. I loved smoking and knew it would kill me quicker but didnt care.

My daughter got me to try vaping a year ago on a cold wet miserable windy day......we were watching movies on A saturday. Well, I havent had one since.

I was a roll your own, 3 pack a day smoker for 37 years.

Wow! That is so awesome, and I bet your daughter is so happy too! Congratulations! You inspire me. Thank you!

I started vaping because I felt it MAY be an easier, softer way to quit. I was very skeptical. I went at it half ... at first, I really was just looking for a way to supplement my cigarette habit when I was not able to smoke. That was about 2 years ago. E-cigs have come a LONG way since then, so I am giving it another try because I am SO sick of the smell. I normally smoke about 25 cigarettes a day. I have had a total of 4 cigarettes over the last 3 days. To me that is some sort of success. NO CIGS today so far. I decided to invest in a good set up and treated myself to some yummy flavors and I can't wait to get everything in the mail. Holding on tight to my old cheapo set up right now, it is around my neck, like a security blanket. I have spent a few bucks over the last few days, but compared to the cost of a carton, it is money well spent.
Talking to folks on this forum has also been a lifesaver. So to answer your question....no I didn't intend to quit, but after seeing how easy and practically painless this has been, I am giving it a go, but doing it very gently. Best of luck to you! God bless!

Well for me it went something like this:

Was at work and noticed a puff of smoke flying around.. went to investigate and a co worker confessed he was vaping inside :p well i wanted a taste of that thing.. Liked the idea of it.

After that a small mistake.. started using a cigarette lookalike with a limited choice in tastes.. browsed around a bit more and ended up with a EROLL + juices. Ordered some more juices + backup parts and im now fully dedicated to keep vaping.

Still a pack of cigs sitting in my jacket from when the cartridges of that cigarette lookalike ran out.. havent touched em since my eroll was in.

I'm one of those people who smoked all their life, every day, all the time. The only time I didn't smoke was when I was asleep. For all those many years I always thought about quitting. I never even actually tried to quit, not even for a day, you understand; I just thought about it almost every night, then got up and kept smoking.

So I guess you could say stopping smoking was a 40-year overnight decision.:D

Got my ego starter kit and haven't had a cigarette since.

I was curious when I saw Johnny Depp vaping in The Tourist. I had no access here in Canada, so I parked the thought away.

An acquaintance of mine tried to start vaping (about 3 years ago), but, again, access in Canada was tricky and he acted like a junkie trying to score a fix ("There's this guy who has some. I have a phone number. I think it's a burner.").

I travelled to AZ last year and had to walk past all the disposables on the way to the counter to buy cigs - very different from where I come from. On impulse, I picked a NJoy disposable up. Vaped it 50/50 with smoking. Next day, I got blu, greensmoke, and fin reusable kits and a ton of prefilled cartos (I was heading back to Canada and had no idea of the availability once I returned).

On the way back on the plane, I realized I hadn't smoked in 3 days. That was it. Thankfully, Canada actually has a thriving vape scene which I quickly got integrated into.

I was a PAD man for 30 years. Never even tried to quit once. My abject interest got me quit in about 24 hours.

I was a pack a day smoker for almost 20 years, and wasn't too interested I quitting to be honest! But I got a terrible flu and felt so ill I couldn't walk to the gas station to pick up cigarettes. I'd bought a cig alike from groupon months earlier so I said 'meh, I'll try it until I fell better and can buy smokes'. I ended up using it for a week: it wasn't bad but it was a super cheapie unit so soon the threading went and I couldn't charge it: by that time, I was over the flu so started smoking again!

Months later I was at a pub and a friend of mine turned up with an ego, she'd been using it for weeks and hadn't smoked a cigarette since. She let me take a few puffs and it was like a lightbulb went off. The flavor and vapor were 100x more satisfying than my crappy cigalike! So I ordered an ego starter kit to see if it'd at least help me cut down on smoking.

The goal was just to save a little money (cigarettes are insanely expensive where I am, almost $15 cdn a pack). And it worked. I gradually stopped smoking entirely during the week. And after a month, when I did buy cigarettes on weekends I really noticed how stinky they are, and my chest would feel like someone was standing on it it was so hard to breathe!

It's been over 6 months since I bought a pack of cigarettes, though I will sheepishly admit that I have smoked exactly two cigarettes in this time (my friends all smoke and on two occasions we were out drinking and I stupidly bummed a smoke on 2 different occasions). Thankfully those 2 smokes confirmed that I hate smoking! The smell and taste is horrible compared to vaping, and my clothes and hair reeked for hours after! The second time was a month ago and I've resolved it's officially my last ever smoke :)

I didn't so much love smoking, but it was part of my life, and I am a major nicotine addict, so there was no way I was gonna quit smoking. My wife first bought me an ecig back in 2008 - one of those look-a-like things, and I never even tried it. Then for some reason about a year ago, we got interested again, because while we knew we would never quit smoking, it was gonna either kill us or bankrupt us, so we had to try something else, cause quitting with gum, etc. had failed many times before, and we knew it would fail again. We have smoked only a month's worth of cigs in the past year, and none for the past month. Wish you the best of luck.

I wanted to stop smoking because I smoked A LOT once I retired and was bored to death and didn't have anyone making rules about where and when I could smoke. Also it was getting really expensive to smoke--after the first of the year new taxes made a pack of cigarettes $7. That was bad enough, but every time I went to the drug store to get a pack I felt obligated somehow to buy other "drug store" things, so I was spending big bucks every month on an income about half of what I'd made when working. So, I decided to quit. Having tried patches and nicotine g um and so on numerous times before, I knew that wasn't the ticket, so I ordered up some Green Smokes and that was that for the smoking. Not one cig after the first vapor. Then I found this forum and the "shiny things" (I am also big on those!) and now it is about 40 days in, and I know I will never have another cig--I have even told people I am a non-smoker. Love vaping (much more fun) and love all the yummy juice options. So, there is no turning back now. Congrats on your time away from smoking. Hang out here and even if you get an urge to smoke, there will always be someone to talk you out of it.
