My sex life might also affect my health, but I am not about to ask her to render her opinion of my sex partner either.

Really? Ok. Your life. But if you're doc told you not to have sex with someone who has aids you wouldn't listen? I'm not saying you have to do what your doc says, but an informed opinion from a health care professional should at least be considered in deciding how to live don't you think?

My doc told me to quit smoking for years and I never listened. Guess what. He was right, I was wrong, but it was still my choice.

The point of the poll is to show that most Docs approve of vaping. So far it's done that. I think that's a good thing for us vapers.

What a good example! Of course I would not stop having sex with the person I love if he had AIDS if my dr. told me to. You see AIDS is something I am well informed on, having worked in an AIDs clinic, and I know the risk and how to have a full rich sex life with an AIDS partner. Would the precautions I know how to take guarantee 100% that I would not get Aids, no. but then very little in life is without risk and I knowing the risk I decide for myself. If my doctor just made the blanket statement not to have sex with the person just because he had aids, I would know that she knew a lot less about aids then she should, because most doctors do realizes that with a little care the rick can be greatly minimized. Would that keep me from seeing her about other problems I believe she can handle, no again, because I do not expect a doctor to be gods, I have know too many of them.

But Aids is a much studied disease -

vaping is a fairly new activity, there has been no major scientific studies on it, so, very few, if any, doctors can honestly render a balanced scientific opinion on it, so I don't see where my doctors opinion would be very helpful at this time.

And this very limited poll is so so small, statistically it proves nothing, not even as much as "4 out of 5 dentists surveyed would recommend sugarless gum to their patients who chew gum."

OK, Back from the Doc. I got the thumbs up and congratulations for putting the cigs down. He has been on me for years! He was surprised though.... He told me his other patients haven't had much success with quitting on E-cigs. I told him it probably has to do with the over priced junk they are selling at the mall ($150 for a mini a charger and two pre-filled carts.) I gave him some info and some web sites. He was really grateful. Anyhow that is my story. ;)

None of the polls here are statistically accurate (probably). Still not a bad showing imo. Having doctors approve of vaping is one great way for it to gain acceptance and make all our lives easier.

And the 90% it's currently at is better than the 4/5 (80%) of dentists who reccomend sugarless gum!

And your point is?

I would suppose that the FDA needs to see that doctors are knowledgeable about vaping and since the Doctor took the picture, it must be better than tobacco. Who knows, they would probably look at it and say, "That must have been for evidence when they called for the cops to take you away (grin)

Since e-cigs are not negatively affecting my health, I see no reason to consult my health specialist

One good reason you want your doctor to note it on your record is for life insurance purposes. I had cut to 1 PAD for a long time but my doctor had 2 PAD on my record. When I changed life insurance companies, I signed a release for my medical records (required). They requested a copy of my doctor's file and saw 2 PAD. I paid a higher premium for that. The blood work they do only is a go/no go deal. It doesn't come back saying you smoke 21 cigs a day. If you have quit, you need to inform your doctor.

My doctor never even heard of the e cig till I told him I hadn't smoked for 5 months. He asked to see how it works so I pulled out my Icon and let'r rip. you should have seen the look on his face.
I wish I had a camera.
He pulled out a pen a paper and wanted to know everything about them because he was sick of all of his smoking patients failing to quit with all of the prescription crap.

Haven't seen a Doctor in 6-7 years. When I do I tell them as little as possible.
Once they think something is wrong with you they start "practicing medicine" and trying to fix it.

I'll pass on that guessing game and fix myself thanks.

I'm Big Hitter, I'm not a doctor and I approve of vaping!

I'm not knocking doctors for everyone, just me. I worked as a Unit Secretary on an Oncology floor for 3 years while my wife went back to school to get her RN. I saw them do some good work, and I saw some bad things.
It was while working there, that I decided I had to quit smoking. I used to help the nurses and aids wrap the poor folks that passed. I wrapped a lot of people to young to die in that 3 year period.

Now my wife is a nurse on an Oncology floor. She has seen the good change in me since I started vaping (9 months next week). She has told several people she works with and patients about my success. I had tried the usual, patch, gum, Chantax with no luck. Never made it more than 3 days.

Maybe I should get some of those fancy ECF business cards for her to pass out on the down low if she needs to :)

Sorry, kinda off topic..... cary on.

Saw my doc a few weeks ago and he was pleased to hear that I had quit smoking. He did however ask me to taper off the nicotine. LOL Not going to happen anytime soon. One hurdle at a time. I also talked to a friend of mine who is the doc for my son's football team and she also gave me a green light on vaping and even went as far as to say how proud she was of me for quitting analogs. My neurologist(aka the quack) didn't have much to say about it because I don't think he had ever heard or seen one. So two out of three ain't bad.
