Well, just checking in. I weighed and measured today to assess the damage since I'd stopped smoking. It wasn't as bad as I thought, but it was 7 pounds and 6 inches here and there. I swear it felt like 20lbs! Anyway, that little speed bump is now over with and I can face the day honestly :). I was also tracking the calories I was taking in as part of the reality check and I really should change my nick to 100thHog! It's all good. Minus 0 pounds and counting!

I'm glad I have a new little support group!

Will check in with you next week. My main priority next week is to drink more water every day.

(And for thelook, marykay, and the rest of us of a certain age, like Bette Davis said, "Getting old ain't for sissies!" and also (forget who said it) "Age only matters if you are a cheese."

Blessings lovely ones!

Hey ladies, I'd like to join you group of "losers" too. I just need to wait for a certain visit from a certain "aunt". I don't know how much weight I need to lose, I don't have a scale, but I would like to at least tone up. Up, you hear me ...., and chest area, up, and make that darned tummy go back to where it belongs.

Hmmm, thelook, I may look into southbeach, I never really liked atkins, but southbeach if I remember right was a little toned down version of it. You ladies do not look like grandma's, let me tell you, I'd love to know the secret to your nice skin.

My father still tells me don't grow old, I tell him I'm trying but it I seem to be failing miserably.

Some secret..soap and water and in the winter, oil of olay! I have never been big on all the other stuff! But I am lucky enough not to need makeup everyday..my hubby and dog just don't care!

My stomach went crazy tonight! I think I overdid the ribs..too much fat for me. I did have a baked potato instead of slaw, too much sugar in the slaw.
Glad I skipped the walk today, it was 95 outside, it feels like an oven..I am done!

Hey, everyone I've have good sucess loosing weight and inches getting on a fittness program, two weeks left on my second round of P90X,, I have done the 3 meals a day with 2 snacks doing 500 cals less then the total amount of cals burned for a day.. but I always felt so stuff but do feel it helped get my body to jump start to start buring cals and working like it should again.. Now I do the primal blueprint type of eating. it's more my style for types of food and I don't count cals. What really made a difference was gaining muscle especially in my abs, it's the muscle that burns the fat in your mid section more then anything.. Strength training did the trick, once I built up that muscle, the belly fat just start burning off by it's self. it's doable but it took time to whip these old abs into shape to really see progress.

Here and back
I vape more and eat less, lost 10 pounds since Christmas without trying. I do eat hummus now with Quaker rice crackers mid afternoon, kills my appetite for dinner and I eat raw unsalted unroasted almonds if I'm hungry and no real food around, they kill my appetite too. Don't know if this has helped but I stopped drinking wine (red) and started with vodka & soda (seltzer water?) with lime and lost even more weight faster.

I know how hard it is as we age. As a teen I could take off 5 pounds by the weekend if I wanted to, now, not so easy.

Hey Patricia. Wow. From what I've seen of P90X it looks super tough. You must be a gladiator right now :).

I've been on a kind of special regimen for the last couple years all connected to enzyme production and hormone balancing. Hey, 54 years old and through menopause, hormones went wild. As I mentioned I took some time to track what I was eating because since stopping the analogs, I was a Taste Monster. So, one thing I noticed was I have been eating a lot of fat. They're all good fats, but tends to bulk up my day. I'll be upping my protein as well.

Have a great week, all.

LOL I miss yall (group hug) :) It's a shame that the majority nutrition and (aka) diet recomendations is not exactly the best for every individual.. I feel everyones fustration because what works for one does not work for another.. I'm a steak egg and (pork) bacon veggie fruit type of morning person.. I never did well doing the grain, fruit, yogurt breakfast thing.. In the year that I started trying to get up and move,, I've been through many ideas concerning what foods are natural to me, lots of trial and error and yes do believe we need natural fats in our diet and funny that I have learned we need to eat more in order to loose.. I started off really slow, easy pace with P90X and have done well to keep advancing, been a nice balanced program gained alot of strength in my body for it. I also like Personal Running Trainer.. really set up well for confidence building. I'm not a runner ( I usually one to have pain like within the first 20 seconds of running lol) but I have enjoyed this.. started with the 4 week to 1 mile and spent extra time with each weeks training sessions.. was just nice easy and enjoyable to add to my workouts.. I could see using this one program over and over and over again just because it's so doable and enjoyable.. Just built so much fun and confidence I have done the 5K and currently working on the 10K program.. I have no reason why for the madness,, as long as it's fun, I'll be doing it..... Over all it really took this first year to find what works for me and what I enjoy..
