What are the differences in size, voltage able to use, performance and any thing else you can think of. If someone happens to have both of these could you take a side by side photo of yours and share? I appreciate anyone's help explaining this to me and I'm sorry if this has already been covered, I've search for this answer but didn't find one.

Hey Bella! Great question.

Think of the Protege as the Prodigy V2's little brother :) They share many of the same features and actual machined pieces :) The main difference between the two is the Size and Voltage.

Voltage:
Protege: 3.7v or 5v with the USB PT Extension
Prodigy V2: Strictly a 5v device (or 6v when we release copper contact disks.)

As for size, you can see below. Protege is the smaller of the two! Hope that helps!

Thank you so much Cash! I really like the smallness of the Protege. I have small hands so that one would probably be a better fit for me. So the only way to have 5v with the Protege is with the PT is that correct? Just wondering. I have a 510 right now and no mod so this is why I ask so many questions. And this may be a super dumb question but is 3.7v more than what I get from a 510 battery? One day I will understand all this voltage stuff, lol. Thank you again.

Hey Gina!

No problem! Yeah, the smallness of the Protege is nice ... Not as big of a wakeup call when going from standard PV's to a mod :) And yes, the only way to get 5v with the Protege is with the PT. The Protege is the same voltage as a standard 510 battery, the difference is, the voltage stays higher quite a bit longer. Most people get a good 5-8 hours of vaping per battery. When I used 3.7v exclusively, the 510 is all I used. The 510 does great on 3.7v ... Feels about the same as the 801 at 5v :) If size is important, and you want a nice middle ground between PV and Large Mod - the Protege is a great pick :)

Ok great! Thank you again for your help. I really appreciate yout time explaing all this to me. I really like the look of ya'lls products and I've read all the great reviews about them so I thought I would start asking some questions. I will be saving up my pennies and hopefully be able to make my purchase of my first mod here in a month or two and boy is that month or two gonna kill me, lol. Thank you again!

Hi Gina,

I know Cash already gave his opinion and like any good Dad you never want to say you like one kid over the other but IMO the Prodigy OWNS! over the Protege which is also a great 3.7 PV. The extra small size is of course nice but the V2 is very small as well and for me the extra voltage makes for a better vape all around for flavor intensity, vapor production which is also a bit warmer with a killer throat hit. It will spoil you.

Thanks so much Derek, I really appreciate that. I feel like I'm a kid in a candy store and my first mod decision is going to be an extremely hard one cause there a few out there that I am really liking, these two here, being some of my choices. I know over time I may just have one of each that I really like, that is, if my husband doesn't kill me first, lol.

The Protege is the best option out there was a normal 3.7v device! PERIOD! I've owned one since they first came out. HUGE SMILE ON MY FACE the first time i used it.. Its like i'll never forget that first hit! lol.

Later on i found out while load testing it that it gave out the highest load voltage of any other device i tested at 3.7v. I tested a regular mega 510 battery,Xhaler and even the Silver bullet.

A regular mega 510 battery only did about 3v on load on a full charge. The silver bullet and Xhaler was at 3.40-3.50ish. And the Protege shoot out a score of 3.90v! Thats unheard of! Battery unloaded voltage was 4.24v.

So with all that scientific mombojombo translates simply to.. BUY THE PROTEGE if you want a better 3.7v experiance! lol.

510 atty all the way ofcourse and using the blue foam slug 510 cart mod of mine.. Long lasting/huge hits!

Start with that.. and you can always buy the USB extension to try 5 volts later on or at the same time! hehe.

I have to agree. I love my Prodigy (V1) but I use it only at home. For me, it's just a little too big to carry around with me. But the Protege is a perfect fit for public use. It fits perfectly in my shirt pocket and in my hand. I realize the V2 is supposedly smaller than the V1. But, for on-the-go use, I prefer my device to be as small and unobtrusive as possible.

Like Derek said, the higher voltage in the Prodigy will definitely spoil you for normal devices. But I've also found that running 3.7v on the Protege will also spoil you. So be warned. My Protege's original tact switch died on New Years Eve. So I tried going back to my regular 510 batteries the next week at work. Talk about an adjustment! They just seemed so weak. I was SO happy to get the mechanical switch in and get my Protege working again.

I think the bottom line of what I'm trying to say is that I give the nod to the Protege, especially since you stated you have small hands. IMO, it would just be the better fit. But both are really excellent devices.

Thank you everyone! I really appreciate all the input. I'm thinking maybe the Protege may be best cause sometimes with my 510 I still get blown away with the vapor and this might work out well for me, especially starting out. It's so hard to choose but at least I can get a passthru and try out the 5v and if I like that then I can get a Prodigy V2. I'm really excited. There are a few mods out there that have really caught my attention and it's such a hard decision but I know I can get different mods and use all of them when I want to. Any way, this is super awesome I think.
