If you want solid and easy to use I hear Squid Industries is now making a single barrel with one battery ? They are VV/W only no bells and whistles but built like a tank. Great battery life.

THEY ARE????

LOL! That was my "unicorn". I've been asking for it since I first laid eyes on the DB.

Checking their website now!

@tA71ana, shouldn't you be able to charge those at 1.5A without issues.
Probably, but I charge at 500mAh because I heard a while back that it was easier on the Batt overall.
My Charger (VP1) only goes to 1A anyway.
I could charge them at 1A but I'm not in much of a hurry to do anything, lmao.

VaporShark still offers a compact rDNA60, the upgraded version of the rDNA40. I actually transitioned from my provari's to the 40 when i dropped my favorite provari standard in a massive puddle. the switch from voltage to wattage was fairly easy to make, and it is a pretty solid mod. ended up paying it forward to my brother when his eleaf 100 died. he still uses it.
Oh, that looks really nice too!:thumb:
I think I'm going on a Mod Binge, lol:lol:

Can someone help me to understand why a mod manufacturer would choose a button top for a mod? Do they offer some mechanical or electrical advantage that flat tops do not?
Provape used the button as a safety feature to prevent reverse polarity in the first Provari tubes. The button fit into a notch on the board to protect the user from installing the battery incorrectly. The later Provari's had a different board and could use the flat tops.

You must have missed my earlier post in this thread.

Cats is exactly correct.

In the case of the Provari, the button top is required for the circuit board to function. The nipple fits into a cut out portion of the circuit board to complete the electrical circuit. It was how Provape prevented the user from orienting the battery the wrong way -- mechanical reverse battery protection.

You can see where the nipple of a button top battery fits into the cutout (on the left) of the board to make electrical contact with the processor. A magnet or flat top battery wouldn't work effectively. In fact, if Provape could prove that you used a magnet on a flat top battery it would void their warranty.

Otherwise, a button or nipple top battery offers no advantage/disadvantage over a flat top battery.

@tA71ana, it's usually 0.5C (Columbs) for the optimal charging rate with li-ion batteries. Which equates to half the capacity, but as long as they're charged.

And don't forget to post here and or in the shinyitis thread when you've been gouged for your new shinies.

What is interesting you at the moment?

Thank you for the tip! :)

Now that I am actually looking (I haven't in a while), I am seeing sooo many things! :hubba::hubba::hubba:
I was stressed at possibly having to give up my Provari because of the Battery issue but in the intervening years since I got my Provari, I see that the Quality of Mods have really improved and that there are quite a few Mods available now that have the Build Quality of the Provari :hubba::thumbs::hubba:
I do like that JAC - I think that will be my next purchase...I will have to be careful with that one, lol.
Also, I just received my Geekvape Aegis Solo (Red) in the Mail today and I am ecstatic!
I like the feel of it...it won't slip out of my hand (I have a baaad case of butterfingers, lol).

I know that Provararis use button tops as part of their bespoke solution, but the vendors dindn't make button tops specifically for them. What I meant was why do manufacturers put buttons on some cells and none of others?

Battery manufacturers like LG, Samsung, and Sony (South Korea and Japan) never put button tops on their batteries. If you find batteries from these manufacturers having button tops, they have been added after leaving the factory. Some Chinese manufacturers may make button tops because of the market that they sell to.

Button tops can help the user from inadvertantly putting a battery in backwards (reverse polarity). It's often difficult to recognize the positive end from the negative end in a flat top battery.

When connecting batteries in series (i.e. equipment that needs two or more batteries oriented end to end) flat top batteries can also be a problem. Flat top batteries were not designed to be used in series, but were designed to be used only in a battery pack. (see second link below)

Also, some battery devices require button tops to fit better, such as some flashlights.

Here are a couple of older articles on button top vs flat top batteries from several years ago, so keep in mind that some of the information may be outdated.

Flat Topped vs. Button-Topped, what's the deal?

Battery, button or flat top
