Disappointed... what am I doing wrong?

Perhaps this should be posted in e-liquid, but as this is my very first time vaping, I thought that It's got to be something I'm doing wrong.

I just got my ego twist 1000 mah and 650 mah batteries, cartomizers, atomizer and tanks as well as 12 juices from MBV. I know that the juices have to steep. But of course, having never vaped before, I wanted to try something right away. How bad can it be?

So I put few drops in the atomizer, started at 3.2 volts and took a hit. Awful. Tried turning up the volts. Still awful. Vaped that until the flavor sort of ran out, then tried something else. Awful. Did that with 4 more juices, decided I should try filling a cartomizer. Filled three cartomizer, each flavor worst than the next.

I tried 8 of the 12 flavors and not only is the smell of the juice making me ill, but now I'm totally overloaded on nicotine and I have a stomach ache.

Every single juice tasted super sweet to me.. the fruit flavors tasted like syrup and chemical. The tobacco flavors tasted like some kind of sweet syrup.

Is this normal for tasting these juices straight out of the bottle? Out of 8 juices, I figured there must be *something* that I'd like, but I can't stand any of them. Even green apple, which got a 5 star rating. I was so excited that this would be my last day on analogs... now I'm not so sure :(

Unfortunately most MBV juices need to steep for at least a week min from my own personal experience. I haven't had one from them that does not need steeping for me as of yet. Hence the chemical taste. Sorry you're having a bad first experience but many juices that are made to order will have to steep. There are some vendors who sell steeped juices. Do you have a B&M nearby that you could go to to get some juices that have steeped?

BTW...you're not doing anything wrong

+1 I was gonna ask something along the same lines. If not, New Jersey isn't that big. Maybe a road trip is in order to go to a B&M store. I'd do that before waiting a week. Some B&Ms also have a taste bar where you can try before you buy. I never order juice online because I don't wanna spend hard-earned $$$ on something I might not like. But then again, I have at least 4 vape shops within 30 minutes of home. But even if they were an hour away, I'd probably still make the drive in order to try the juices. All the best to ya finding a juice you like.

also.. what kind of atty are you using.. if its not bridgeless/dripping atty you need to make sure you are not just dropping the juice right on the head of it..

mbv's juice deff needs to steep for at least 4-5 days.. you can look up quicker ways to steep (warm water trick) to see if that helps.. i had the same problem at first and figured out it was just the juices..

try the condom filling trick with the cartos too.. that has given me better results.. or look into a tank type system

HI Jenny and welcome. Sorry to hear of your vaping disappointments, especially right from the start. My wife and I are a couple of those people you will learn to hate. :D Our experience is just the opposite, though we have run into some dismal vaping days, because of on hand equipment and lack of juices. The mailman is starting to become a little creeped out with my actions....I guess hugging isn't something he is used to on his route. He may be more accepting if the wife checks the mail. ;). There is more babysitting with vaping than opening a pack of stinkies.....accept that right now! The rewards, with vaping, are tremendous. I cannot believe it's been almost a month. The wife finally quit carrying her analogs around....I am not ready to give up that false security blanket. So what I am trying to tell you.....it's not all daisies....you will understand things...better.....you will find your juice....this is not like smoking...but it is a stupendous alternative. Come along...you will find all kinds of support here.

I agree with Denyse. A lot of people really like MBV. I appreciate their prices, variety of selection, speed, and customer service, but I haven't found a juice there that I like.

agreed 100% with you guys.. so far tried 10 diff flavors.. just nothing I can vape all day..

I'd rather spend a little bit more $ and get better quality flavors/juices and in doing so have found 4-5 ADV's already just from one vendor.

Hello Jenny and welcome to ECF. There is a lot of great information on this forum and many people who will offer great advice. Of course, it is all just advice which may or may not work for you. In my opinion, finding juice that you like is the most difficult aspect of beginning to vape, especially once you have your equipment set up. I struggled with it myself, and there are many threads here with the same kinds of stories.

First, I would suggest that you take it easy on vaping so much at one time. No matter what form it takes, nicotine is toxic and you will have adverse reactions if you overindulge. This is important, as many folks have landed in the hospital while smoking when they have a nicotine patch stuck to them.

Additionally, what PG/VG mix and nicotine level did you order? These may be factors in your reaction to the juice. Some have bad reactions to PG.

Second, Mount Baker Vapor mixes your juice when you order it. Many flavors need to steep, but there are a few (in my experience) that are good to vape straight from the mailbox. What flavors did you order? Those of us with some experience with Mount Baker Vapor might be able to offer some advice about how much they need to steep.

It is my personal experience that I don't like some flavors in certain devices. You may also find this to be true. I would like to suggest that you try both cartomizers and clearomizers. Try both top coil clearos and bottom coil clearos. A different device can make a huge difference in your vaping experience.

The last bit I would like to mention is that it is often stated that your taste will change when you begin to vape. Something that tastes horrible now might taste fantastic in a week. I have been helping a friend convert to vaping, and she went through a week of everything tasting like "sweaty socks" or lacking flavor altogether. It is important to drink lots of water, and I mean more water than you think you need to. This helped me immensely. I found that vaping tended to dry my throat and the flavor of the vape coated my tongue in an unpleasant way. Drinking water helps with both of these issues.

Of course, it may be that Mount Baker Vapor juice just isn't for you. If you do go to a local Brick & Mortar, many of them will let you try juices and help you select something that works for you.

Please give it some time and try to have some patience while you adjust and transition between the world of cigarettes and the world of vaping.

I find that I have to steep most from MBV. That being said, it is cheap enough to order more and wait for the steep. Their juices where very perfumy to me at first, after 7 to 21 days they were awesome. I have been vaping wild cherry right out the box however. Even started to get flavor shots. But taste is of course subjective, and the better vapor to be is to get 50/50 as I don't get enough vapor from the 80?20. So I second steeping them and getting something presteeped for now. Or even better learn how to DIY. It's cheaper and you can find what your best flavor is. There is a long thread on MBV in the juice section. Don't give up, give the ole taste buds time to heal.
