Disgusting Treatment of Member!!!

I would just hope that some of that background could be shared with folks here to better understand what went on and why the decision was made.

I have been here since summer of 2012.......and have seen bans (of members) that I didn't necessarily agree with. Members who had contributed a lot here.

However, when I wanted to put in a few words for them, or wanted to know why they were banned, in a PM to moderator, I was told that these things are NEVER discussed with members.

I do understand why that is so. And never pushed it.

Thanks though, for underscoring that $50 for a supplier to gain permission to do business here really isn't that much. And it's not as if it's going into Ollie's Yacht Fund! It's paying for a full-time and highly dedicated member of staff to do an essential but unglamorous job.

(BTW, I don't have a yacht fund)

If you start shilling for any company here you will get banned.
Your income/compensation is irrelevant.
Advertising is advertising, and it's how the forum pays it's bills.

I think it depends on how you define fair. I'm sure you think it is but did you ask the person you banned? ECF had long ago become a place in which one word can get a member kicked out of here. I remember when freedom of expression mattered....those were the days!

Many around here have enough sense to know that not everyone is perfect- not even the mods but they dare not say so.

I hope things change & more is done to retain members than send them in the direction of the forum that's so heavily filtered here. ECF is greatly helping their member count!

I appreciate you'd like to know. And I'd like to tell you what happened, but out of respect for our admin team I'm not going to. Suffice to say that no new rules were made after the fact, and that this case is a unique one which is a little blurred around the edges. No malfeasance, no money grubbing (seriously @always9988 - did you read my post?), just a difficult issue - and I'm trying to resolve it all fairly.

Then may I ask, if you are trying to resolve it fairly, why is it taking so long? I mean afterall, you're the owner of this forum are you not?

Simple - I have time right now to sit on it and respond. The buck stops with me - I'm the one who makes decisions ultimately.

In other cases, it's not fair for the mods/admins to be respond to challenges when it's me that decides whether those challenges are fair or not.

Maybe I should schedule in an hour or so per week to let members vent at me for perceived problems with the way we run things!

Along with some others, I am glad you've taken the time to respond. This situation, as you can tell, is a powder keg & many of us do realize you're trying to stop it from exploding even further.

I hope you also completely understand that with anger also comes hurt. Many of us are hurt behind this. It's people like Roxy every forum would feel honored to have as a member. And it's people like Roxy many are proud to call a friend!

Banning her hurt the community & we suffer enough with what the future holds for vaping.
