It actually... Holy crap, that actually makes sense! What about wrapping higher ohm coils? Is this doable? Like I said, I would like to use the Diver with a non mech and possibly even my Billet Box. And is that ready made wire with the non res wire welded on it available anywhere? Sorry for all the questions but I am trying to get this right.

I use my Divers on my Provaris all the time. The highest ohm coil I've wrapped on a Diver was about 2.5ohms, that was with no non-resistance wire. The only difficult part about wrapping higher ohm coils on the diver is the space you have to work with. As we all know, more wraps = higher resistance (well, longer length = more resistance) and since the Diver cup is so small its sometimes rough to get more than 4-5 wraps in there. But if you're using 32g Kanthal with a 5 wrap in that little cup you could probably get around 2.5ohms without using NR wire.

This may sound stupid but does anyone use this for dripping?

I use the Diver in the Grail for dripping. The Grail, which is also from Atmistique, utilizes the Diver's base section. This affords Diver owners much flexibility.

It's not so much the cartomizers I want to get rid of but the clearomizers. I wouldn't mind not using cartomizers, but I would probably keep them in case of an emergency. BCC's are ticking me off, rebuilt or genuine replacement heads. I'd love to PIF the Kanger headaches to someone else.

I've read this thread from the beginning and watched a couple of rebuilding videos, very helpful info! So far, no deal breakers (unlike the Killer 705). The price helps too. I'll be using 100%VG, so far I haven't read any complaints from you folks on that.

Have any of you used a high resistance kanthal ribbon yet? I know there is very little room for a coil but if the resistance was high enough it would only need a couple of wraps. I have many gauges of Kanthal wire and only one of ribbon that I'm sure is too low to work in a Diver. Sorry, had to ask.

If I had a way to connect my ribbon to the NR Nickel wire, I would be tempted to try it.

I hear you there. I've read most of the thread about making your own joiner, and I'm not fond of playing with capacitors like that. It's a good thing that one of those is not necessary, and the Tsaf seems expensive and hard to get. From the video I watched with VapinGreek, there's room for the NR-R-NR twists. -> The Diver Rebuildable Atomizer for Tanks - YouTube

Todd's review and build were also interesting, considering he had no idea what he was doing.

So I have found a Diver to purchase, where do I get backup ceramic cups and brass pins?

I have been got my brass pins from Atmistique. That's where I got my Divers, as well. They have the ceramic cups too. However, I did not buy any. I had a bunch of extras, since my eBaron Dripper Pro uses the same ceramic cups.

Zapping does work well for joining NR to R wire, but I would rather not travel that path unless completely necessary. Yes, the .5x.1mm measures to about the same as 31g Kanthal A1 wire. There's no way that would fit and achieve a desirable coil resistance in that little cup. I haven't tried a lower resistance of ribbon yet, I'll just stick with 30-32 gauge round wire.

3rd time is the charm: I searched Atmistique one more time and found the cups and brass pins. Hopefully the shipping will be less than the items

The .4x.1mm ribbon is closer to 32g kanthal round wire. Like the round wire it is smaller and has higher resistance, allowing more room and less length needed for a higher ohm coil. I'm going to need some of that anyways, I don't run all my rebuildable drippers near the one ohm mark. Some of them are just too small for a .5x.1 ribbon coil in the ohm range I like.

Edit: I have a bad habit of posting information, followed by more research, then returning to post new and often contradictory info to my previous post. Apologies.

My Diver with the Kanthal Ribbon is working just great. I wrapped another piece of ribbon around two pieces of 2mm Ekowool at 1.6ohms with 4 wraps (using a 46mm strand). Setting it up seemed no different than the 2mm Ekowool 1.5ohm 4 wrap 32awg round Kanthal that I usually use (it's tricky to shove this size Ekowool in a ceramic cup, regardless of the type of wire). I may use this ribbon with my Divers more often.
