I like FA mango, I have another but I can't remember which. Mango generally adds a juicy feel to my juice and I like it a lot in some mixes.

I can't say you are "doing anything wrong" but if mangos are hard for you to taste, I might bump up some percentages in your recipies and see if it adds anything. There are certainly other mangos to try I'm sure, you may happen across one that works.

I feel for you I love (and can taste) vanillas, and I LIKE vanilla, but something in those flavors just makes me hoarse. I sub out, and no longer miss it as much, now that I've given up on it. Sadly.

Fortunately, flavorings seem almost INFINITE, I'd suggest trying some apricot instead (or even apricot AND mango, it's a nice combination) and see how you do.

One of my favorite recipes is a mango-apricot-maple concoction, for example.

@stols001 Thanks for your input and advice! Vanilla is also one of my favorites. Happy I can vape it but also feel for you. I’ve added apricot, mandarin & nectarine to mango trying to build what its lacking for me. While tasty, I’m not reaching my goal. Nectarine definitely helps bring that tart almost rind flavor mango has. I’ll keep trying though! Maple added sounds intriguing and got me thinking!

If after trying all the mangos I’m not satisfied, I’ll journey through all the mango brand combos possible before giving up. Now that I think about it, I’ve heard lots of mixers talk about their favorite strawberry or raspberry flavor and very rarely is only one mentioned as it’s usually a combination of 2 and sometimes 3. I’ll just enjoy the process:D

Mayhaps a stone is the best way for you to go.

I know you should add some Dulce de Leche (TPA) that crack I mean stuff makes everything good
Why not? LOL! Every time I see mention of it I can’t help but think of that O’Charley’s Caramel pie we so easily make simply by boiling a couple cans of sweetened condensed milk for a few hours, pouring into a pie crust, smothering in cool whip and then make yourself sick trying to eat the smallest slice because it’s so rich but o-h s-o good!

Mayhaps a stone is the best way for you to go.

Someone was mentioning a mango lassi flavor (storebought). I can't remember where and when, although it does come to mind, given that I almost bought some. I LOVE mango lassi.

So there are some good storeboughts. If it were me, the idea of a "combined" stone where you try all your mangos together, let them steep for a while, and then use in various experiments might be useful. Or, different combinations, of various mangoes so that you have it to hand when attempting to combine other mixes might work as well.

I hope you find the taste you are searching for, @NatashaTMT ! It's so frustrating to have a loved flavor just out of reach. I find maple fantastic to blend with most fruits, and it adds enough sweetness to sometimes "bring out" more of the fruit. It's possible that sweetness is what may be missing from what you are looking for, My apricot-mango-maple is pretty great. I usually use 3.5% 3.5% and 2% for the maple, and it doesn't require a great deal of steeping. It's rather nice. Maple, mango, and brandy (if at all into the alcoholic flavors) can be a nice combination as well. Etc. You may just require the correct flavors to "surround" your mango. If you were to make the first recipe, given that you have trouble tasting mango, I might bump that percentage up a bit (and use both the mangos you have, if I am remembering correctly that you have two?

Good luck!

Anna

ETA: a stone is where you mix up a reasonable amount of a flavoring or flavoring combination that you use frequently. It gives your flavoring extra steeping time on its own and it's easy to have to hand, to try and add various amounts to other mixes you want to try, using mangos. Since mango is tough for you, it may help to have various mango 'stones" to hand in order to try them easily in different mixes. Typically, you can mix it at whatever percentage of nic you usually use, and PG/VG ratio, so it just becomes a matter of adding it. But, it's nice as you can bump up the percentage fast, if needed, and (IMO) probably helps overall with blending whatever mangos you decide to use. It doesn't have to be a huge stone (say: 800 mg of the stuff) and you'd probably benefit from smaller "stones" in the beginning, using various mango combinations. Etc. I think that's correct, but someone will correct me if I'm wrong I'm sure.

Yes, I do have 2 atm but more on the way after placing orders today. I wasn’t familiar with the term “stone” as @Necrospecter mentioned above. So you just taught me something! That might be a great idea for me. You may also be right about sweetener. In the beginning I over sweetened everything and as a result I’ve shied away from using. Though now that you mention it, I know some fruits need sweetener to shine or become brighter. Maybe I was too focused on the fruity end. Thanks Anna!

From reading / researching, I’m familiar with premixed bases and flavor combos but haven’t heard the term stones before today. Thanks for this explanation!

Secret number 1- mango doesnt have to contain just mango flavoring. Mango can be the top note but there are flavors that compliment it without taking away the mango flavor. What was your mango recipe?
I agree 100% and have tried mango several different ways in several different recipes. Although the recipe I mentioned isn’t complete, I’ve received good feed back. As I’ve already mentioned, I focused too much on the fruits trying to build what wasn’t there for me (in the mango) that I ended up washing out the mango that is there. I have several changes I want to make. First I’ll try replacing the 2 mangos with 1 different one I have otw and drop the apricot, mandarin & peach. I like what the nectarine adds to the mangos I was using but considering I might not need it with the new mango, I’ll start over with my base flavors of mango, passion fruit and dragon fruit. I might add a minute amount of sweetener to brighten the fruit. This recipe warped into something I wasn’t looking for but here it is anyway. Considering my change ideas, any advice?...

Mango Passion Dragon

Apricot (LA) 1.5%
Costarica Special (Mango) (FA) 2.25%
Mandarin (FA) 1%
Mango (INAWERA Flavours">INW) 2.75%
Nectarine (TPA) 2%
Passion (Passionfruit) (FA) 1%
Peach (SC) (Real Flavors) 1.75%
Pitaya (Dragon Fruit) (INAWERA) .5%

PG/VG-ratio: 35/65

Depending on my mood, I add strawberry or brighten a flavor already there. The mango is already brighter (so I’m told) but it really benefits from adding a different type of fruit for contrast.

A lot of mine morph into something else. I try to pick a direction and stick to it but sometimes crap happens. If you try the sweet mango try adding a touch of sweet tangerine. Peach is normally good with mango. Honestly I use mango pretty high. When you get it the way you want it I would like to try it

Sadly your not the only one. I spent triple digits over the weekend and didnt really need anything for a few years.
Same, but  there were a few really great sales! Also, I needed to stock my flavor stash to be better prepared. I also have lots of recipes in which I can cross use flavors. The way I look at it, if you’re going to need them anyway, why not get them while on sale:D
