I have mixed 10 different TEs over the last 2 1/2 wks. I haven't found any that I just do not like; however, I am finding most too weak for me also at 2-2.5%. I am still experimenting with %'s, melding, etc.
Same here... well, I started with all of my tobaccos at 3%, but am finding that I want more flavor. I've had mine steeping for a week now, and am just trying the different ones now (except for a quick test of each after a 24hr steep).
I think I like the Fr. Pipe the best so far. It probably has the most flavor, but a little more would be nice. (Mixed some at 4% last night).
Aside from a good, rich pipe tobacco flavor, I was hoping to find a basic, lighter (cigarette-ish) tobacco. I tried the Virginia after 24hrs, but not since the week steep. I liked it. I don't like too much grassy taste in a tobacco, so I was worried about this one. I think I remember there being a little bit of that, if I looked for it, but mostly I got a basic tobacco taste (not enough though).
I don't know what to make of the Win. Churchill. There was a little bit of talk about whether they are hinting at Winston cigs with the name, or a cigar (because W. Churchill smoked one). My first impression was that it is the cigarette. But, initially, I was thinking that maybe it was a little dryer than some of the other concentrated cigarette flavors I've had recently, so maybe it is supposed to be a cigar. After a little more time with it, I felt like I was picking up more sweetness. I need to try it again at a higher percentage. Either way, I like it a lot so far.
My first impression of the blackberry (at 2.5%, 24hrs steep) was that it tastes somewhere between blackberry and grape juice. Not bad, but not what I expected. After a week, the grape juice (or maybe blackberry candy?) part has settled down some. It's still not anywhere close to an exact blackberry flavor, but it's very good, and seems like it will be nice as a subtle addition to tobacco (which is all I got it for). (I'm probably a bit of a blackberry snob... they are weeds around here, and we pick buckets of them in late summer every year - blackberry wine, cobbler, icecream...).
