Meh, You seem to be into your health stuff regarding vaping. I thought you may find it interesting. Never mind =)

Actually, I am not as overly concerned as you think I am. I use small amounts of flavors with diacetyl and I vape cinnamon too lol I just try to help others make their decisions based on information that is available :)

When I say that I use small amounts of flavors with d and cinnamon, I mean tiny. A drop or two to a 30 ml bottle.

DH has lung damage from viral pnuemonia and I don't use any at all in his mixes. Plus, I rarely use those flavors myself. I make Cinnamon Pear which I adore and I do use PA Vanilla Custard in one of my mixes.

Is silica used in all atty's & cartos at this point?

To my knowledge, it is. I have not kept up with the latest and greatest with atties since I don't use them much but I think that they are. If so, I will not be using them anymore based on that thread and my experience with them.

silica wick seems to be the standard, its in all the clearos, atomizers, cartomizers etc

only exception I'm aware of is the rebuildable atomizers that use stainless steel mesh rolled up into a wick

health concerns aside, the conclusion I've drawn is that silica is great in that its burn resistant, but is a terrible wick. Cotton and stainless steel kick the crap out of it so bad its not even funny. Its just a bit of a learning curve to get things dialed in right.

I've been vaping two stardusts side by side since a few days ago, one silica, one cotton, and the cotton one is shaming the silica. no dry hits, fast wicking, clouds of vapor, cleaner flavor. and when you do get the 1/100 dry hit at the bottom of the tank, its not as gross as with silica.
