DIY juice is too Thick, What can be used to thin it out? (I'm killing my atty's way too fast!)

Hi,
I tried searching in the DIY juice forum, but I couldn't find this problem discussed.

I've been making my own juice and unfortunatly not only do I prefer to Drip, but I also love the really dark juice flavors (mostly coffee/espresso) which I see all over people saying they are afraid to try dark juices in fear they will kill their atty's. Well, it seems they are all TOO Right! (I'm killing my atty's left & right)

I'm hoping part of the problem is that my juice is pretty thick. The VG I purchased is really really thick. Even though I only use 30-percent VG & 70-percent PG, it's still coming out too thick. Hoping it might help, plus give more TH, I just bought an alternative to "Everclear alcohol" (100 proof corn whisky, the Liquor stores around hear don't carry Everyclear). I tried adding a little bit of that to my juice, but it's just not enough since I only add a few drops to the juice.

I hope this isn't a really stupid question--I just couldn't imagine being able use water...

Yeah, that's kind of odd that a 70/30 mix is too thick for you.

The 100 proof should work. The easiest way to use it is to try putting 1ml of your corn squeezings into a clean empty bottle then add 9ml of your VG and shake well. (Note that using drops for measuring here is problematic as the drop size for 100 proof will be much smaller than the drop size of VG.). This 10% mixture should get you closer, but if your VG is unusally thick you may need to bump it up closer to the level distilled water is used. 20% is somewhat typical for distilled water in VG, but alcohol usually thins much better and less is required.

(Maybe since 100 proof is 50% alcohol then splitting the difference and going to 15% is the way to go.)

Nevertheless, work with the VG till it has the same flow as your PG. Once you get that, then combine your recipe again.

I'm not sure that corn whiskey is a suitable substitute for Everclear vodka. Even a lower-proof vodka (i.e., a higher percent of purified water) would be better.

According to my source: "All whiskeys contain at least a small amount of malted barley [in addition to the corn, wheat, oats, and/or rye].... Straight whiskeys contain no other ingredients, but blended whiskeys may contain a small amount of additives such as caramel color and sherry.”
