I just used VirtualBox on my mac to update the firmware on my chip...Linux should be identical.
Thanks xpen, I have nothing against virtual box what so ever, its a great invention how ever I am unable to use it on my laptop. To give a little more my PC is a chromebook which I have installed this thing called crouton, you may / may not of heard of it. Basically it allows you to switch between chrome & Linux with a few key presses, easy enough to set up. Through that I have steam games, android sdk, fastboot for android etc. When I try and use virtual box it complains about missing kernel modules which I can't remember the precise thing it says. I could get round this by wiping chrome os entirely from the hard drive and set a up a pure Linux environment, chrome os is a distribution of Linux but quite limited in what you can do, how ever I do like to switch between os' task dependant. If it comes to it I guess I can wipe chrome os but I would rather do it as a last resort.I'd bet that VirtualBox on Linux should work. Provided you've got nothing against running a virtual windows box, that is.
Wine on the other hand may or may be not able to run the Escribe windows executable, especially for communicating over the USB port..
Unfortunately at the moment I've got plenty of Linux boxes but no DNA200 for testing, so it's pure speculation on my side [emoji4]
My remark was about running a Windows OS as a virtual box instance, I know some Linux purists would never do that. Thanks xpen, I have nothing against virtual box what so ever, its a great invention how ever I am unable to use it on my laptop. The actual program escribe will load using playonlinux, I have updated it to the latest version, I just don't have a DNA to test the USB communications.

if the Escribe/DNA200 pairing doesn't need any special USB drivers wine may be a viable alternative after all.
I shall let you guys know how it goes after I get hold of a DNA 200. If it comes to it I can wipe chrome os and set up a 'proper' Linux environment but I would rather it be as a last resort. The actual hardware in the machine isn't too bad i3 duel core with hyperthreading, 4gb ram. Its performed well enough to use to play through the half-life games / portal. You would be suprised how versatile they are and virtual box is the only thing so far I found that it can't do.Wine can make use of Windows drivers, if available, but it may be a real pita to get them working..
How about a graph while vaping on that setup? This is for KTM

I'm still thinking about ordering another rDNA40 because of the shark week sale. $110!!!. I absolutely LOVE my rDNA after 8 (9?) months still. I only wished it had a large screen. I also LOVE my VS DNA40 with large screen.Nah. You absolutely did the right thing. Your only mistake, if there was one, was not putting your own order in first!
On another note, is there a list of available DNA 200 devices?
