Damn, they stole my idea lol. The batteries are supposed to be kept together anyway so making a dedicated pack is a natural. Once you assemble a polarized power connector and the balance connector, it's a 3S pack with no need for any reverse battery protection.
Battery packs like that have been available for years. :)
But I don't see any advantages over using a LiPo pack. They're much heavier than LiPo because of the metal housing each cell has.

I haven't done any exact measurements but just eyeballing it, Li 18650s are a lot smaller than lipo packs Wh to Wh. They are also a lot heavier.

Man nothing beats arguing with somebody on how the dna 200 can regulate kanthal and how he can make a "file".

Damn idiots I swear to god. He sees some ohm fluctuations on live view and he thinks kanthal can be TC'ed

Until I showed kanthal's (as in the company) TCR and how kanthal only starts changing resistances around 1K degrees. suddenly he just went "thank you!". unless kanthal does have a upwards graph in the 0.000/0.0000 scale since I can't really see that from kanthal's website since it only goes to 0.00

ofcourse this happened in a facebook ijoy asolo 200 thread.

Physical properties of kanthal's alloy make it incompatible with TC mode control... And that's all...
NI200, Titanium, NiFe (from dicodes), 317L, 316L, tungsten and lot more is compatible with TC mode...
You only need to calculate the resitance coeff of the wire, to help the board make the math.
but that's another debate...

One day it will be possible -- when we vape in humidity controlled rooms with shielded attys and indium contacts. Just don't move while vaping because the triboelectric effect from body position near the atty will effect the temperature reading

Here is another DNA 200 mod for everyone.
DNA200 1590A 1000/1050mah 50C | XEVape
....wow that price.

I mean that is literally just a hammond with the chip and they are asking 250 for that? I mean people can ask as much money as they want but man this finish. for god sake you can see that the hole for the fire button is slightly off center in the picture they use. And that USB sticking OUT of the mod. awesome. The only impressive thing about that thing is the skill in soldering tactile buttons on that board but that off-centered fire and usb sticking out just kills it completely.

He had posted somewhere he fixed the USB so all orders will not have the issue of it sticking out. He got some praise from John at Evolv on his soldering skills and being able to replace the buttons. I like that the build looks very clean.

Pardon? Every person with a bit of soldering skill can do that.
Jeez, I'm soldering SMD parts that need a magnifier to see what I'm doing.
And that is a skill that not alot of people have in this community. It can be done. but it is extremely hard and needs specialized equipment. That is why john is impressed because somebody actually went and did it while there are so many more options.

Honestly I hate those damn thin buttons. My cana modz had those and they hurt my fingers(especially my fire finger) so much after a while.

I applaud the skill etc. required to modify the board with those switches. I have used many of those switches. What I ponder is what advantage is gained by doing that?

I don't see any advantage of it really. the original buttons were MADE to be liquid proof. not resistant but completely safe against liquid(judging by pbusardo's evolv visit). I highly doubt those buttons have that.

They are super tiny. they are pointy. they hurt your finger after using them for a while.
I honestly think the guy just did it so that his mod is abit more special. and now with john saying "WOW" alot more people looked at it because omg john from evolv was impressed. Other than the tactile buttons there isn't really anything special going on with the device. it's your average chip build in a tiny enclosure. Those have been done a million times. The only special thing is the well done re soldering of buttons. Wished he did this to some other buttons though. or just removed the original buttons from the board and put some bigger buttons there or have wired buttons(since without the OG buttons you have the space to run wire through there.

The fact that it's a ordinary hammond box is just eh. hammond boxes have that hammond lean. the enclosure door is wibbly. There are so many more options like G boxes and such that are higher quality than a hammond.

Hell my DNA brick with it's 2200 mah lipo and weird up and down button placement(though now thinking about it I could of made a normal system work(dangit). I wouldn't dare to sell it for more than 150-160 euros. it's nothing special it doesn't deserve the premium price of 200-250 bucks

He got praise for his solder skills on that button, but, the photo that shows the 510 solder joint looks like trash. Granted I know it was built as a proof of concept... But I wouldn't put a price like that out there and *not* show your best example.
