No pics are showing
Strange, someone PMd me about the same thing.

From left to right: iStick20, Beyang30, Invader mini, DNA200, Tibs2, Hanna, Gdeal Squonker
All have almost identical battery life except the Tibs which is double the rest.

In all seriousness, this is the route I would go... Still 52 amp continuous, small light and relatively cheap.... Back ups affordable :phttp://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__26452__Turnigy_nano_tech_1500mah_2S_35_70C_Lipo_Pack.html

Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.

I really would love to know what battery is in the demo mod and the associated run time people are experiencing. I guess time will tell.

That's definitely good to know!

Will you be posting any kinds of recommendations and/or "these brands are good/bad" etc?
No, I am staying out of that. Zippy is just so notorious that I wanted to give folks a heads up.

The battery is a 3S 900mAh 30C battery (equivalent to roughly 2700mAh in 18650 technology) that was obtained in wholesale quantity. The brand is one that I have not seen commonly available here in the states, and I am not sure that Evolv would want me to disclose it.

I get about a day vaping a 0.13 coil at 420 degrees and 30w.

The board continuously monitors all 3 cells individually in realtime, if a cell fails it will prevent the board from firing.

The voltage of each of the three individual cells can be monitored/graphed via the software, or displayed directly on the mod, however displaying them on the Mod eats up all 3 of your information slots.

Thanks Mike as always...this is very good to know! Evolv really seems to have thought this one through!

Been using Lipos in the Mods I build for 2 years now. Just a word of warning, the "ZIPPY" brand is notorious for failures amongst the RC hobby crowd.
I wouldn't actually build a mod around that battery.... Was being tongue in check a bit :p
Followed up with what I would use on an unregulated box

Yeah, I figured that the confidentiality agreement you undoubtedly signed might have some restrictions in that regard. I appreciate the info.

Thats about par from what I have seen, I get 5 days on this (1s 5500mAh 60C) using the same coil/settings:

ETA: This is a DNA40 btw, not the new 200.

Mike

That is COOL.
I want to be able to have my extra LiPo's all charged and ready to plug in when the big boy is announced and ready.
I hope some folks do it that way.
Love it.
ps...thanks for the straight forward info. Much appreciated.

I have a 2s 7.4 1200 mAh lipo I was using with my sx350j. That will work with this eh? And does evolv make these available to the diy vs the big companies

No, a 2S battery will NOT work.

Just the facts:

Input voltage requirement 9-12.6vdc

Input current requirement 23A
Output voltage 9vdc
Max Output current 50A continuous (55A instantaneous)
Batteries supported: 3s Lipo - 3S LifePO4 - External Power Supply, and Evolv engineers speculate that 3 high quality 18650s should work.

No wattage presets. Total scroll time from 1w to 200w was 20seconds, with it accelerating the scroll rate after the first few tenths.

You can use multiple wire types. The only TCR that is preprogrammed is the NI200 however you can add your own TCR. Think of it as a graph. On the Y axis you have resistivity on a scale of 0.1 to 10, on the X axis you have Temp on a scale of -100 to 800F. You input different points into that plot to represent the TCR. You can put as many points in the curve as you like, but the curve has to be ascending. You can save/load your curves to/from csv files, but not as a preset.

The software is by far the most customizable solution I have seen to date from any board Mfg. There are something like 80+ variables that you can customize.
  • Battery Meter, Error Flashes, Orientation, Brightness (active, idle, & charging), Fade, Active Time, Battery Chemistry, Battery Cutoff, Ohm lock range, Preheat Time/strength, and much more are customizable.
  • Customizable screens. There are 20 different possible screens generated by the board. You can change them to say or look however you want within the limitations of a 128x32 mono screen. Don’t like the term “Stealth Mode” change it to “Hiding” or whatever.
  • You have 3 pieces of information you can display on the left of the DNA screen, and another 3 while charging, and you can choose any of 10 different variables to display there, like ohms, voltage, temp, etc.
There are several built-in analyzer tools.

· Device monitor
o This is real sweet! It monitors over 20 variables in realtime and shows them numerically as well as allowing to graph as many of them as you want. The graphs updates every second, maybe less.

· Atomizer Analyzer
o Monitors your atty in realtime to allow to observe resistance stability.

· Case Analyzer
o Monitors several variables within your enclosure to predict performance under various charging situations.

The Balancing connector at the bottom is a "JST-XH".
Evolv is recommending a minimum of a 25A connector for the battery +/- connector.
The fave amongst the Evolv engineers is the XT30 connector.

Evolv will be offering the bare board to the DIY community on their website. They assured me that this time they will have stock available for purchase on the day of release.

Please come back retird. You are one of the very few people here with any real info ...

Just a bit more facts:

Just to add some more facts on the software (beta):

Device Monitor feature provides real time values for:

Battery:
Charge (MAH)
USB Current (chg rate)
USB Voltage
Pack Voltage (3S total)
Cell 1 Voltage
Cell 2 Voltage
Cell 3 Voltage

Current Puff:
Power (reading during puff)
Power Set (wattage setting)
Temperature (reading of puff temperature)
Temperature Set (temperature setting)
Current (amp draw during puff)
Voltage (voltage during puff)
Board Temperature
Room Temperature

Device Monitor also has Statistics area:
Puffs (Since Reset and Total Puffs)
Puffs Temp Controlled (Since Reset and Total Puffs)
Energy (last puff, Mean, Std, Deviation,Total) in both Since Reset and Total
Power (last puff, Mean, Std. Deviation) in both Since Reset and Total
Temperature (last puff, Mean, Std. Deviation) in both Since Reset and Total
Time (seconds) (last puff, Mean, Std. Deviation, Total) in both Since Reset and Total

Device Monitor has a “live view” where real time data graphing can be displayed as the user defines.

Data can be recorded, graphed, and recorded and graphed data can be saved. Data saved can be shared as needed.

The Power and Temperature setting on the device can be changed from Device Monitor also.

Statistics (since reset) can be reset as desired but Total will remain.

Firmware version date is also shown in Device Monitor.
