Lithium-polymer.

You have to be VERY careful when handling these.

The outer casing of the battery is a soft plastic cover, so if it's punctured by something metal....RUN AWAY FAST!

This is a 3S1P....even a dead cell can cause a fire, but wait until you see what a fully charged one can do!

Um, lipo can come in hard casings as well as any shape you can imagine.

Technically, Since the highest wattage board they have released to date is 40 watts, They are playing catch up without a doubt to not only yihi, but nearly every other manufacturer out there. 200 watts is not special, nor really usable in TP mode and has been long surpassed by others. Lipo's aren't new in mods. Wire selection isnt new. Software updates arent new. Even firmware writing has been done by others before. So they are 1000% playing catch up. Especially since the iPV3 7-150W will likely be released before this and will be a better device for several reasons, mainly not being massively large and heavy. They could have been working on this for the last 8 years, but since it is not in market circulation nor even announced, that means the playing catchup till its released. If secret chip development puts u ahead of the market, take a look at the touchscreen 250W bluetooth chip yihi announced 8 months ago. Even after this is released, they will still be playing catch up because this is not a practical high wattage device the average vaper will be able to use for safety and size reasons.
The iPV3 LI is already out, Ordered mine yesterday from ecigaretteempire it's already been handed off to usps. Really hoping the touch sensor works this go around lol. This new dna200 will be a must have when released.

Boy Howdy.... a lot of discussion since I last stopped in here. Everybody is getting more and more information on what's coming. The software features now can and will be discussed in future posts here and in other forums. You should also gain a better understanding of the board and capabilities. I would only mention this again that Evolv is a OEM. They currently make no devices. The manufacturers and mod makers are the ones that will give you the form factor. The board requires 3 cells (battery selection decided by the manufacturers and mod makers). As an example the test device pictured earlier in this thread measures approximately 3" x 1.5" x 1". You can compare these measurements against your current devices. It incorporates an "off the shelf" battery pack. Manufacturers and mod makers can decide battery selection and whether to have these packs user replaceable. Manufacturers, mod makers, and the end users can set numerous parameters through the software and get software and firmware updates. The software also has a capability to record actual data for many, many parameters and can be beneficial for many things. There is even a "live screen" where you can see many, many user selected parameters while using the device. The software package has so many capabilities, function, parameters, monitor features and etc. that I would have to make a list (which I have no time for right now). Note that as of this post things are still being finalized (boards, software, and firmware) so what you read between now and release can be different.

Please understand that the beta process is still active and discussion of the board, software, and firmware may be valid only to that point in the beta process.

Normal banter and debate occurs in most threads but my post will be tempered to just giving information and trying to answer questions if I can.

Have a good day all....

Thanks for the update m8 is there any way you could make a quick video on the software features? Would really like to see what it's all about.

Wow, as I read through this I feel like some people just can't be made happy.

First of all, with regard to the 200 watt issue. So you may not ever use 200 watts, I know I probably won't. However, it does provide you with a greater amount of flexibility than a 40 watt device. I sometimes like to drip between 60-80 and when I do I have to switch from my Hana to my Sigelei. If you will only use the lower end of the wattage spectrum, no worries!

Secondly, the LiPo issue. All of us, literally all of us, carry a LiPo with us every day in our cell phones. We are talking millions of people. They are probably the safest battery that you could carry with you. It cracks me up when people claim 18650s are safer because "they only vent". I've seen plenty of 18650s explode. Plus, with the way we vape now we are at the bleeding edge of what a 18650 is capable of handling. They were never designed for our application and any time you take a technology to the edge of its abilities it inherently becomes more dangerous. 18650s are a technology that is hampering our movement forward like a boat anchor.

Finally, several people have written about how "huge" the test mule for this board looks. Really?! The picture of the mod in the hand provides some perspective and it looks no taller or thicker than my Hana V4d. Plus, it is a test mule. No doubt device manufacturers will find better way to package the board.

I for one am excited about the DNA200. Everything negative that has been said so far sounds like nit-picking. The fact of the matter is that we now have more options, more competition and this will result in even more vaping progress. We all win!

At this time any pictures, links to the software, and etc. will not be available (still in beta). We can discuss the features though. Should providing a link to the software be approved for release it will certainly be given.

I only have one question. Will there be a board in the future that's the same size as the dna40 but with all of these features? I'm not going to be interested in this size nor the 200 watts. I will never be interested in this 200w board, ever.

thanks for the update, I noticed the A where the volts would normally be at is this going to be a user set amp draw or just a display for what amps the chip is drawing from the batteries?

Evolv won't say this but I will. This board is built to slap faces off. With it Evolv leaves no doubt they are the best, baddest vaping boardmakers on the planet, and that everything else is and always has been a pale imitation. It shows that they, as the originators, have the most complete understanding and best implementation of temperature protection. And it shows that the quality of their product is second to none.

It takes every spec people value, and just about every feature people want in a board, and does it several orders of magnitude better than anything else out there. This includes the power -- not all watts are the same. It even uses Joules correctly.

Then it adds a ton more stuff no one has ever seen yet. TheBloke -- you're going to pee yourself.

I couldn't agree with this more, Evolv makes the best boards money can buy and back them up with the greatest service too!
I'm not to thrilled about the battery situation but for all that power sufficient battery power will be needed.
This is what would amount to a show off board, kinda like the new Shelby Mustang way more power than you'll ever need but when you drive by everyone knows you have it :)
I will buy 1 board and build a 200 watt mod but probably only 1 I will never need/use all that power But I got to have at least 1 :)
Hopefully soon some one will have a decent looking enclosure for it on Shapeways :)

Also what will the max watts be on this chip using 2x 18650's? I don't care for lipo's or a 3x 18650 mod to big IMHO , but I could see a flask being a good form factor for this chip with 2x 18650's. Will most likely never use more 120 watts ,but it's good to have the flexability.
