need help please.
how can I set escribe to give me the punch/throat hit like the 350j on powerful+? I cannot figure it out but the 350j is giving me much more "oomph". the dna200 kind of just "blows" where the 350j "pushes with force". I tried playing with preheat but I do not think that is the setting I want to be looking at?

also I have the battery on maximize recharges. it will not charge past 93%. I have the percent set on the screen as field 2. battery bar goes all the way. it takes a long time on maximize recharges too. not really concerned about that. I just need to get more "push" behind this thing.

this board is serious technology right now. takes some knowledge of course. I am good but stumped right now.

I hope this is the right thread for this.

thanks

The maximize recharge setting reduces the max voltage each cell is charged to. You can see the individual cell voltages in device monitor. You should expect something around 4.1 volts per cell rather than 4.2.

If you want a knockout punch, increase the preheat punch and the set temp. Keep in mind though that a punchy hot vape with tons of throat hit might have bad stuff in it from overheating the juice and it's actually the bad stuff that provides the throat hit you like. What are your current setting?

I am always asking for trouble. I did not realize vaping could contain bad stuff. I have the punch at 8.5 and the temp at 150. the other settings I left stock. it is no where near the 350j on powerful+ of course. for some odd reason I had to lower the watts and raise the temp. it is 560 and 30 and it is not hot to me. if I go lower than 560 even at 20 watts I get temp protect. I am just using vapor shark ni200 coil in the triton. on the 350j I was at 400f and 43 watts. I know that is asking for it. I can only have others build me coils because I am disabled.

thanks I really appreciate that you told me it is bad. I was not really sure. I was wondering if you could help me get some reasonable settings please. I do not understand why it wants to be at 560f. I figure that is not good. I do not care about production, just taste.

I don't know if you're getting any bad stuff but bad stuff is produced at very high temps.

For the vape you like, first off I would go into escribe and change the temp protect message so it just displays temp (it's a drop down box setting). Temp protect is not an error; it is the normal operating mode of a well designed TC board. If you used mid-40's wattage on the SX, set DNA200 for at least 50 -- SX are said to run on the hot side. Set preheat watts to at least 100 for at least 1 sec. Punch at 8.5 should be plenty. Use device monitor in escribe to bump your temp up 5 degrees F at a time until you get the vape you like. Also keep an eye on the wattage and temp graph lines in device monitor. If wattage plateaus before you get to your set temp, try increasing wattage.

OTOH, if you want a super hot initial punch that fades as you take a draw, set the temp to the hot initial vape temp you like and then reduce wattage a bit at a time so after the preheat finishes the reduced wattage will be the limiting parameter rather than temp, and the temp "fades" to the final temp you like.

Quick question. I'm interested in a dna200 device but wanted to know if the escribe software can be used on a mac? I dont have access to a pc so if I can't use escribe, no dna200 for me.

Yes, if you install VirtualBox, VMWare, or another virtual container...

To clarify, Escribe doesn't have a Mac (OSX) port. You would need to to use Parallels, VMWare Fusion, or the free VirtualBox on the Mac and then install Windows in a virtual machine on your Mac. If you google Windows virtualbox image, you can find a 90 day trial which allows you to use Windows for 90 days free.

Thank you guys very much for the info! From the looks of it, I will not be purchasing a dna 200. I'm not really a computer person, and it seems like a lot of hoops to jump through. Maybe if i were more computer literate this would be an option, but for now I'll have to look for another tc mod.
thanks again!

Episode 2 part II 35 mins about being too complicated, well there are a 3 main issues IMO.
1. enthusiasts & reviewers see something you can set and feel the need to mess with it.
2. manufactures have not set the the values for the device, particularity battery level and Kanthal max power requiring connection to a PC, otherwise you don't need to.
3. raising popularity of coil materials other than Nichrome, Kanthal and Ni200 in the community, personally Ni200 is perfect, but...

If point 2 is taken care of you can just set the right temp and give it to your granny or grandpa and tell them to just use up, down and fire and stick to Kanthal, Nichrome & Ni200 coils (they don't have to select modes or lock res like some other devices) it is a very easy device to use.

He then wants menus and large colour screen , FFS once the settings in point 2 are there it is like all the Evolv stuff just press the button an inhale, maybe change the power if you are changing tanks everything else is optional.

I agree. I have mine set up and actually only use 4 profiles anymore (Ni200, TiG1, Ti Clapton, coil "warm burn"). I haven't even connected to escribe in like weeks. Once it's set the way you like it, press fire and vape on lol.

I would like to see some of the mod makers set up and ship with at least a few profiles set. Then it really would be open the box, choose profile and vape. Luddites could then ease into escribe for just tweaking a profile value or two as needed and avoid having to make what may seem at first like a lot of settings.

Yeah that's the biggest problem so far. You buy a box premade and no setting have been entered. Average user has no idea what mod resistance is or how to even set it. Then u have to run case analysis which takes a couple hrs. Not to mention batt anyl. Most people don't have a clue what a 1 ohm resistor is. That was my biggest issue with my vt200. Took quite a while for me to learn about all the setting and how to perform them correctly. The mod makers definitely screwed up on that . I don't want to blame evolve but when they licensed all these mod maker to use there chips they should have stipulated that all these setting were pre set to save alot of end user frustration.

Alot of these vape gurus have no idea what there talking about. I learned that along time ago. They get a bunch of free stuff to give good reviews on the stuff given to them.
All of the reviews sound the same to me. They read manufacturer spec and then give there opinion on the product . No one really has a good in depth understanding of how these things even work. It's like my grandmother reviewing her iPhone . She can turn it on and make calls but that's it. Her review would be based on that alone. But she could sell viewers on the phone and not even say anything worthwhile. If that makes any sense.
I'm not bashing any reviewer. And the taste ur juice review is great for people that have no idea what to do. But for someone that knows there way around a pc this is all basic stuff u should know anyway.[/QUOTE]
