is that the same chip?
what do you mean the other just hold temp?
Yes, they have the same chip. By holding temp I mean that rather than giving the TP msg, it simply adjusts wattage to keep the target temperature.

Not had much luck with evolv, one of my two batches of dna 40 ordered has cancelled my order and refunded me after 3 months of broke promises and false shipping reports and tracking numbers "vapedojo" you know who you are. My other batch have been on order for 2 months. I have all these parts ready to build copper and sterling silver bottom feeders and no bloody boards to work with. I ordered a few 40 vamo boards from FT last week out of sheer desperation and am now ...... at myself because of how big they are and just know they won't be worth the effort integrating in an ultra compact VW squonker "as is my usual builds aim.2 mins to standby as opposed to 1 for the real dna40 -
Though the real one fires up without delay and the clone has the 2 sec display of 'hana modz' before you can fire it, so the real one must take longer to go into real standby.
EDIT: you're not thinking of buying one are you?

The vamo boards might be ok for another design project, but for what I have in mind right now I would have to make too many compromises. I just want some dam boards that don't have a delay, are nice and compact and work. TC was going to be a bonus, but......:
So not really going to buy with the current issues, but I like to keep myself informed about my options however poor they may be at present.

That's the way my SmoCare clone works. A shame they don't offer just the boards.I think he's asking if it has the same chip as the Cigabuy. It doesn't, it's a KX-40D board from Kangxin. So far, Kangxin seems to be the only source for proper working clone TP boards actually for sale at the moment, even their first revisions with 1 second delay after sleep had functional TP.
Kangxin tweaked the TP message threshold on later revisions to more closely mimic how Evolv does it. You should only see the TP message if there's a large variance between set wattage and TP controlled wattage, but its still firing and still adjusting...think of it as a way of saying "Hey man, you're asking for too many watts for this setup, we can't even get close, but we'll keep trying".

For that matter, being as how a DNA 40 board and USB charger from Evolv is around $70.00, for another $24.00
Try ordering from Evolv directly.... 1.50 shipping anywhere..... Evolv LLC - Shop Now
I understand the grief you must feel against your vendor (s?) but it really isn't that hard to get your hands on an original. They are in stock in all three UK stores I know about so they should be certainly available in the US. As far as I know, Evolv also sells the board directly on their website.
Obviously if you looking for the best possible deal, than it might take a while but I rather pay extra 5 or 10 bucks and have the board now.

The Evolv site has had no stock every time i have gone to order, i had always started my search there. Uk shops and the pound vs dollarFor that matter, being as how a DNA 40 board and USB charger from Evolv is around $70.00, for another $24.00 you can get on line @ Vaportek for a HCigar "Heartbeat" w/an authentic Evolv DNA 40 board, shipping included. Granted, HCigar is known for being a clone mill but the mod actually doesn't look too bad for being a basic box mod. It does have a few issues like the 510 not being centered and the display is dim because the lens over it is tinted. But I don't know if $24.00 will buy an enclosure, 510, battery tray, etc.

Always woked out close to $100 per board. If I just wanted a mod thats would have been easier.
Any way, just visited Evolv's site and thanks all they were in stock so ordered another three. Looks like have gone up in price though.
Has anyone tried the Desire dna40 clone yet?
D40 (DNA40 Clone 40W Temperature Protection Module, Support .1ohm Coil)
Great![]()
The board is good and even those that were wonky, they never actually stopped working or limiting temperature. Better than what I've seen from that other board a few posts back.
The only really bad thing about the dna 40 is dealing with a few of those illuminated minds when you have doubts but nothing an ignore button won't solve and you should get your answers quickly enough![]()
Good luckI'm dying to see this ultra compact mod (I'm a sucker for small mods)

Much appreciated retird, Initially I was like "yeah right like I haven't already tried that", and then i thought I should click on your linkYep.... Evolv had not previously offered the 40's on their site for sale but when I noticed them there after reading your post earlier I thought ya might want to know they were now available there... I was surprised to see them for sale on Evolv's site too...
Hoping to go smaller still, or at least more refined/classy, not sure yet.
Sorry if i missed it but did you comment on the delay from standby and the delay from press of fire button to &/noise once awake.
