DNA20D Tube Mod

I have been working on this for maybe a month now. I started with a 1" aluminum tube. Cut, turned, and tapped to fit some GG parts and pieces. I like my GG's so I couldn't think of a different way to make a mod to accept a DNA20D.

So far I have the tube all set... I still need to drill holes for the buttons, and cut a slot for the display. I turned down and carved out a piece of Teflon for a nice snug custom fit for the DNA20. I will post more pics as I go and when I'm finished.

As you can see in one of the pics, I damaged my DNA20 so I have to wait on another one for right now.

It also needs a good buffing and polish job when done too.

Totally my fault with the display. Was a little to forceful trying to slide the assembly I made in the tube. It caught the side and I slipped, pushed it right into the screen. I should have a replacement this week, Monday, or Tuesday.

the second one is always easier, the hard part is getting everything measured out to fit. I have some parts coming to make a box mode next. Nothing original. Using the same enclosure some other members used.

Got it done today, Works really well. A little long, but pretty nice. Next is the box mod.

I'm going to switch out the top l. Take the gg collector tank off and use a stealth cap

Put a stealth cap on it this time..I think it looks better this way, Now I need to put a lens over the display. I found a piece of tinted plastic that my company uses for their controller display.

Can you shoot me links to the button you used? I'm drawing up the plans for a dual 26650 DNA20 box but I'm having trouble finding a switch that can handle as much current as the DNA20 will output :/

Nice job. I am also planning a tube mod for my DNA20 and your Teflon board holder is exactly what I had in mind. I've got some 304 stainless tubing that I'm going to use. I haven't had any time to start the project yet, and since I don't own a lathe, I have a friend at work who is willing to give it a shot.

I'm not sure how I will make the top cap for it, but for the bottom, I plan on trying to match the threads to my Provari 18500 end cap, since I mainly use the extended cap.

If and when I get started on this, I;ll try to post some pics.

BTW, how do you have the Teflon piece secured? Is it basically a press fit?

When I got the tube, I measured that then turned the teflon down to match. so it would slide in nice and snug, then I put the set screws through the side to act as stops, so it won't go down any further.

The threads on a Provari are 21mm X 1

Thanks for the thread info. My thought on the Teflon was about the same, but I was thinking of a ring that fits very snugly and would be hammered down into the tube to act as a stop for it.
