I'm hoping the cravings go away. I love smoking, but for the past couple years, I've had more an more issues with a chronic cough, etc, and hadn't been able to quit. I quit completely on Monday - did have one analogue which taste like .... - and haven't had one since.
I do have pretty constant cravings, though. I think the 24mg was making me sick because I was almost constantly vaping, so I'm down to the 11mg, which may have been a bit of a jump. I never quite feel satisfied, no matter how much I vape, which is almost continuously.
When I smoked that analogue Monday it tasted like .... and I didn't really like it. I did, however, feel the immediate nicotine course into my brain.
I've looked at a lot of research on PubMed and with all the stuff I've seen, because of the way the nicotine is vaporize into the lungs without combustion, it is simply not delivered as well. Rather than get spikes and trough in the nicotine in your body, you're basically getting a more constant level. That's one of the problems.
The other is that any habit that you've done for a long while will always seem appealing. I'm fighting the same urges. A good thing to remember, at least for me is threefold:
1) Cravings only last about 3 minutes at a time. Vape away.
2) This is much more fun than quitting and taking deep breaths. At least you can vape.
3) You're slowly ridding your body of all the tons of harmful chemicals and C02 in the burning tobacco, and getting back the cilia in your lungs, tastebuds, not aging your skin, not yellowing your teeth, not contributing to Alzheimer's.
And finally, there's some interesting research on the neuroprotective effects of nicotine in low to moderate dosages.
Woo, I was jabbering on, urges strong right now. I'm a nurse practitioner and specialize in memory related disorders.
