Dear bethan,

I was a pack a day for 32 years. I smoked "lights" so I wasn't hardcore by some standards, but cigs have been my friends since teenage and they've been with me longer than my wife and parents. I've been off cigs for 3 months so far. If I can do it, anyone can.

This is the best cessation product to date. The e-cig gives me 98% of what cigs used to, the look, the feel, the flavor (mostly) and the nicotine. However, there is something missing. It could be "the smoke" or one of the myriad of unidentified things Big tobacco add to addict us to their products. vaping is NOT all fun and games and there will be work, frustrations and struggles, but it's worth a try, IF you're ready.

Best of luck! :thumb:

It's working for me so far, 20 a day for 25 odd years, 3 weeks in and I never want to go back to analogues. Having said that, it does not work for everyone, a work mate tried it at the same time I did and has not been as successful. I still go outside for a smoke with him except he smokes and I vape. To me it feels like I have been smoking all these years waiting for vaping to arrive.
I enjoy it more and never think of analogues anymore, if I get a craving I want my e cig not a smoke. Give it a go and good luck.

Pack a day for 21 years. I took to vaping like a fish to water, not even any transition period required. I picked up my first PV, filled it with liquid, and never looked back. (Well, once, but that was related to a bad juice that I thought was some kind of reaction to vaping in general -- thankfully it wasn't and I went right back to vaping when I learned the truth.)

The thing about vaping, at least for me, is that it gave me everything I needed out of a cigarette and nothing I didn't. I still get my nicotine, I still get my much-needed throat hit, and I still get the ritualism -- the hand-to-mouth action I crave when my triggers kick in. Except now I get to vape at work. :)

So yes, for me, and for many, many, many others, they work where no other method did or even could, and for me, the switch was as easy as switching brands -- easier, even, since I like this far more than any cigarette I've ever had.

This is not really a simple answer as I first thought when I read the question. The reason being is that if you get a "bad" ecig, as in one of those ecigs which is poorly constructed with poor quality parts, and/or get lower than required nicotine; you can find that you are getting a thoroughly unsatisfying experience and hence end up back on the analogues before the week is through.

On the other hand, once you get a quality ecig with enough nicotine strength in your juice, yes.. they work almost immediately. For me, I got a really bad ecig when I first started and wasted a lot of money on it.. I was still "sneaking out" for a smoke to hide my embarressment of getting such a bad product and wasting money... they weren't working more than just a novelty item and if it wasn't for my persistence to find something, I probably would have given up on ecigs.

Then I found the Joye510 starter kits, which by today's standards are not as good as the current ego's and riva's.. but the Joye510 starter kits still hold a special place in my heart because after I got them, with strong nicotine juice; I never needed or wanted a cigarette again. I still use Joye510 atomisers as my mainstay atty because they "just work" and satisfy me everyday.

So yes.. GOOD ecigs DO REALLY work.. but BAD ecigs DO NOT REALLY work.

:D

I was a pack a day smoker for 10 years. I bought an ecig because I wanted to be able to smoke inside and because I like gadgets. I ended up quitting smoking on ACCIDENT. And I'm not alone either. The fact that people can ACCIDENTALLY quit smoking really speaks volumes about the efficacy of these devices.

I've been smoke free for over a year, and vaping has become another hobby for me...
Making the decision to quit smoking is one of the healthiest decisions of my life, along with one of the most difficult. The cravings can become overwhelming, causing irritability, trouble concentrating, and physical sickness due to withdrawal symptoms. There are hundreds of products on the market ranging from nicotine gum and patches to prescription drugs to reduce the nicotine cravings.
One of the newest stop-smoking trends is the electronic cigarette. You see it on TV commercials, in magazines, and on nearly every curb market counter that you visit. It supposedly mimics the look, feel, and sensation of smoking, without the harmful chemicals found in tobacco.
Sounds like a perfect fix…but does it work as well as advertised?
