All I can say is after 52 years of well into the third pack of tobacco cigarettes a day. . .I haven't lit a tobacco cigarette for more than six months. I know it isn't supposed to be a smoking cessation device, but it's the easiest way to switch that I've found. And since I control the nic that goes in it. . .there's little doubt in my mine that I'll eventually work my way out of it altogether. JMHO

Give um time LV, time to find the unit that works for them, the juice that works for them. My case. . .finally decided. . .vaping tastes better, don't stink, don't burn holes in everything I own, including falling asleep with the PV in my lap. I just woke up one day and said to hell with it. That's it. Fine. Took me six months to get the unit I needed, the juice I needed, the carto I needed. JMHO

I thought a survey somewhere on this board said ecigs have a 75% or 80% success rate. Most people do not fail with them. They have a much higher success rate than any other quit-smoking method.

From everything I see on this board, the above estimate seems correct or even low. I imagine the success rate might be lower for people buying overpriced crap at malls and getting no support and not knowing where else they can get supplies cheaper, and maybe not even knowing about eliquid. But I bet the success rate on this board is higher than 80%.

Here - 83% totally quit cigarettes using e-cigarettes

I had been a smoker for 8 years straight, except for the 9 months I was pregnant. I never thought that I'd quit smoking. I always told people "I'll quit when I'm good and ready!" I had a really hard time walking and talking on the phone at the same time, and doing karaoke without having to take "breath breaks" in the middle of a song. I got winded easily. I had thought about quitting for my health's sake. Then I went on a trip and the hotel I was staying at was completely smoke-free. I took it as a sign. I've been cigarette free for 6 weeks now and I only get cravings when I'm really stressed. I picked the worst time to quit smoking, too. Out of all of my friends that have tried e-cigs, I'm the only success story. Even my boyfriend, who introduced me to all the sites to get started (including this one), hasn't completely quit like I have. I feel so much healthier now. I can sing a full song without stopping, I can call my mom while I'm walking to work, my sense of smell is really intense now... All these perks. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of money I'm saving. I highly recommend testing the waters to see if it's right for you. :) I love my e-cig so much, I sleep with it. It has changed my life for the better.

i wasn't a smoker for as long as some people on here (only 8+ years) but I LOVED smoking. I LOVED my cigarettes, more than drinking, more than eating, more than some family members. I had to quit after having pneumonia for the first time (hopefully the last) and dove into e-cigs. Best decision EVER. The road to quitting is different for everyone, but for ME it wasn't that difficult. I have had only one analog since May 31st (this weekend, just to see if it still felt the same, and I was drunk) and it tasted like an ashtray doused in chemical backwash. I don't think I'll ever go back. As far as its' success, I would consider myself a successful ex-smoker thus far. (plus everything having to do with juices is the most fun ever, seriously)

I hope you try it, and even more than that, I hope you find it works for you! Good luck!

Same!

Dormouse is right-- e-cigs work well. BUT like what was posted many people get crappy e-cigs in mall or at gas station and get turned off to the idea...

I was up to 3 PAD... 20+ year smoker and I thought I'd never quit... I love e-cigs cause I love nicotine AND get to keep all my habits. That's why e-cigs rock! I can have my coffee and vape, I can take a vape break, I can drink beers and chain vape, I can talk on the phone and vape. Gum, patch, all that crap makes you give up the associated habits and your whole life sucks cause the pleasure is gone in the habits you make... And, the nic level is easier to control--you can have just one puff and put it away...
