Nope. I think exactly the opposite.

Some of my friends tried the vaping thing, but found the egos and clearos just weren't cutting it. When they see my mech and dripper and the big clouds, they immediately want what I have, and as a result, they haven't gone back to smoking.

If they hadn't seen me cloud chasing, they would have likely given up on vaping and gone back to smoking.

And that is completely different than a stranger who has never had any contact with a vaper or experience with vaping. Yeah I have a few of those friends as well, and that's exactly the reason I'm carrying a SMY 260 tonight, mines bigger than theirs. But I sure as &&&& wouldn't approach someone completely new to vaping and unknown to me with that same mod because the intimidation factor as well as all the strange lingo would have them turned off before you have a chance to explain what vaping is.

between all the people i talk to and conversate with daily - high power/clouds does seem to "turn off" smokers from vaping. on the otherhand - those who medicate are more "turned on". i see a distinct pattern between groups of "smokers" in my area.

smokers are looking for an alternative that HITS were it needs to - clouds are non needed for TH.
"medicaters" are looking to LOOK cool while being "hip" to new trends.

Where y'all keep findin' these people?

The recluse who's never seen a vaper.

The Cloud chaser blowing up every face in town.

The vaper ruining every public place.

Etc. ...

Antz don't seem to have to do much work making things up these days. They can just come here, open 3 threads, copy... paste.

BOOM! Instant new York Times best selling article...

So do Cloud Chasers scare Off potential vapers?

Probably Not.

I think some Cloud Chasers are Kinda Silly. But I don't think they are having a huge Effect on whether a person Switches or Not.

Let me Make a Clarification on this.

I think a Cloud Chaser will not have that much Effect on a Person who Smokes and is thinking about Switching to an e-Cigarette.

But I think some Cloud Chasers can have a Profound Effect on the Perception of a Non-Smoker and their Views on e-Cigarettes and e-Cigarette Policy.

Vaping is kind of heading towards the cringe phase. I saw a guy in the summer blowing massive clouds out of various mods he had in a man purse thing he was wearing. I smacked my head and thought I might be associated with this dude in some manner because I vape. These things are surging in popularity and its not hard to see someone vaping almost everyday in the city.

Vapers I cringe at : People blowing massive clouds in public, purely for the "look at this huge amount of smoke coming out, look at me!".

Vapers I like : That guy/girl who is respectful and treats it as a way to finally be free of analogs and is embracing feeling healthy again.

I like the idea of vaping being solely a way to be free from cigarettes and the mess they do to our bodies. It is and it works. I ran 5 miles today with ease, and I really do mean with ease. Huge contrast to when I smoked barely months ago and was out of breathe from the most menial of tasks.

A picture I ran into the other day, please dont let vapers be perceived like this

Good luck with it and thank you for helping out.:toast:

Thanks dude, we'll see what happens, I'm gonna bring my rda along 'cause I want to try that Kryptonite juice that they have there by Cosmic Fog, plus I need to get Cin City and Unicorn Porn. Looking at the fact that I also need a juice for a daily dripping I might just get those two with nic in it

As for him, hopefully he comes around, we'll see

Do cloud chasers put off smokers from switching yes they do but indirectly by which I mean non vapers/smokers look at cloud chasers and have very negative impression of the behaviour and are very quick to comment and relate that to others making many smokers already socially pressured not want to risk vaping. I live in a small UK town probably only 50 thousand people and the majority are non smokers and have succeeded in pressuing smokers to be virtual pariahs and that's a level or two higher then cloud chasers are at. They are regarded as show offs or just stupid and the small group I've seen most often are an obnoxious group putting it politely constantly using techno speak and attempting to belittle those of us who just vape normally which doesn't help. Thankfully the larger group of vapers like myself use discrete mods don't draw attention to ourselves and are open to conversations with anyone regarding vaping guess which group does more for vaping and it's realities to those who are curious.

I wanted something like a cigarette when I started vaping. I actually fully quit using blu cartridges screwed into the smallest 350mah ego battery I could find at the gas station.

It wasnt that satisfying, but good enough to quit smoking... and just by a hair.

That being said, if I could have tried an Atlantis just once I think I would have gotten over the look of it fairly quickly.

So yeah, great big clouds of vapor and a giant mech mod did not immediatley appeal to me.

Now I have two 26650 mods, the atlantis, lemo, drippers and a kanger subtank on the way... I would carry a fog machine back pack if it was legal and had good flavor.

The stigma...

I'm embarrassed to be part of a community that sees these two categories as mutually exclusive. Many of us here cross those boundaries heavily... and for the sole purpose of staying off the ciggies.

Who would sub ohm more than 3 mg for "dem cloudz yo"?

Not me. But i do sub ohm... for the texture, mouth fill and lung fill to simulate the full feeling I used to get from cigs at a similar draw length. I do it with 50mg/ml to get a similar nic as I used to get with cigs and still have a hand free most of the time.

It's what works for me. I don't vape where it's unwelcome. That's for ego and cigalike users that believe the commercials... not for healthy alternative activists fighting to keep the dream and their family members alive in the face of regulatory adversity.

Though... I'm respectful, not fearful. I vape in public places, just not in Joe publics personal space...

Cloud... it's how I vape... All day... Every day...

You're describing children. They put everyone but their own clique off to whatever they're doing at any given time. It's what they do...

Protank style becoming less popular? Not sure how it is where your at but that isn't the case here and in a lot of other places. Many vapors want to keep it simple. Hell your aerotank mini isn't much different then the protank and it fits into the same category. I have an aerotank mini myself. What smokers are looking for usually is something simple enough they won't get frustrated. This is primarly the main reason these set ups are so popular. Set yourself up with a good tank along with a good VV/VW and put in the coil and your good to go. Hell my stock coils tend to usually last me about a month or so. Even after being off analogs for a while some of us still prefer to keep it simple. I haven't had an analog since September. I haven't had the urge to go over to a mech or anything else more complicated. There are a lot of people out there like that. Hell most vapors, even those into mechs usually have at least one or more set ups similar to myself. The difference is many of them do make build and rebuild their own coils. Not all of us are into cloud chasing either. Yeah I like clouds but I am more of a flavor chaser myself. I think when many smokers see the mechs they get intimidated. I know I did a bit. Theirs just so much they need to learn for most and it just seems too much of hassle for them. I have found though people do sometimes respond pretty well to my setup. Hell when I first started with this set up I met a guy at the laundry mat and let him try mine. He liked it and I wrote down the information. I do try to wipe the drip tip off though before doing things like that and I won't let them try it if they appear to be sick. But I do find the best way to convert a smoker or really get them interested is to let them try it. Not all take me up on it of course. But if they want to know something I answer them to the best of my knowledge.
I've noticed the shops here can't keep basic stuff like protanks in stock. The RDA stuff just kind of sits there though....

I wouldn't say that it turns people off of vaping. But I can understand how it would be a little intimidating if that was their only exposure to it.

Perhaps and also if they incorrectly assumed the devices they were looking at, were the only ones there are to use in vaping.

Most any new or different item you consider buying, you don't usually assume the first one you see is the only one.

It would probably be intimidating but I'd guess the younger crowd likes it. Younger types are the cloud chaser types and they have tons of smoke trick videos on instagram and other sites.

For a traditional smoker making the switch to ecigs for health reasons, I'd say it's a turn off. One of my friends told our other friend to go outside and blow his clouds because it's unhealthy for his kid haha. Blowing clouds has a much bigger effect on people around you than just discretely using a low or normal wattage vape.

I wish they were kids beck but they range in age from 25 up to my age of 44 I used to go school with a few of them if they were kids they would get the benefit you give to kids doing stuff and experimenting.
Age does not determine maturity. I stand by my statement that the description defines itself as describing children.

Maybe they're reliving something they missed? Maybe they never grew up?

Maybe they just like flavors? (Zing! Think of the cheeldren...)
