Will the Provari fire with sub ohm coils?

I've been using one of mine @ 0.8 ohms / 3.0v / 11.25 watts for awhile now. ;) I originally built the Taifun GT @ 0.8 to use with my Hana v3 DNA 30 mod, but found the minimum 17 watts it will start out on a fresh battery too hot for my liking. The 11.25 watts on the ProVari has been great. Plenty of vapor production and flavor... :vapor:

EDIT: cryfreedom66, what issues are you having with your ProVari? I would contact ProVape, and send it off to be repaired if needed. :) Most all of the repair costs are pretty reasonable if out of warranty, and one usually will have it back within a week or so after ProVape receives it.

You cannot use either a kick or the ProVari for subohm coils. On the ProVari, you can go as low as about 1.2-1.3ohms. I am not sure about the kick and how low you can go. Before you subohm, make sure you learn about batteries and doing the whole thing as safely as possible.

By the way, the ProVari can be repaired even if your warranty is over. The fees are listed on the ProVape website.

Both of mine run fine @ 0.8 ohms... (3.0v) :)

EDIT: ProVape underrates their electronics:

While reviewing this table, be aware that this is the guaranteed production test limit. Because of part variations, typical unit outputs are higher than what is displayed in this table for both models.

I have a nemmi and a Helios dual coil @ .5 ohms with a Kick2 @ 15 watts thats sub ohm
and does it ever make a nice cloud :)

Hey all, been using my provari with an a7 rebuildable for years. Provari is having some issues so I ordered a couple mech mods. I'd like to use the mech mods with my a7 and wrap sub ohm coils. I am using AW batteries, is it necessary to use a kick for safety?

Using a kick will essentially turn your mechanical into a regulated mod and add safety (short protection etc) It is not necessary to use if you do not want regulated power and amp limitations outside of your batteries limitations.

A Kick 2 will proved 7-15 Watts of power. It's not necessary or really too useful below 1Ω (sub-ohming), and won't fire at a certain point. (I think somewhere around .6Ω)

If your using an AW 2000mAh battery, the lowest resistance you should build is about .5Ω

If your using an AW 1600mAh battery, the lowest resistance you should build is about .25Ω

I just found this video the other night, I thought that it's pretty decent for people new to mechanicals to watch, so I'm gonna just start linking this where appropriate from now on:

good luck

So what you are saying is, Provape mislables data sheets, and is therefore dangerous and unreliable. Sounds like the fanboys/provarianti!

No, they underrate their electronics instead of overrating them like many other mods out there.. ;) Nothing mislabeled.. it's clearly stated on the page I linked.

As for a fanboi.. Please..... That's why I have a DNA 30 in front of me along with the ProVari's and my Kicked mechs. :)

The 2 of us had different experiences and I cannot explain why that is. However, I don't subohm,, so whatever the specs are, I'm good with it. I too, have many other devices, including mechs.

Interesting comments.

If you are planning on some sub-ohm builds, I have a sticky in the RBA forum which should help also:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-discussion-safety-battery-info-warnings.html

While my ProVari's will run @ 0.8 ohms / 3.0v, that's the maximum voltage I can push without errors. With my Kicked mechs (Evolv Kick 2) I can run higher if I want, and still retain good safety features, and regulated variable wattage. :) It would have been nice if Evolv would have included the same step-down feature of the Kick 2 in the DNA 30.

well now you guys got me all nervous about sub ohm vaping lol.

so on that note, with a mech mod (no kick) and a 18650 1600mah aw battery what would be the lowest ohm setup that would be considered "completely safe".

I have run an .8 ohm for a long time using that imr aw 18650 battery with no fear of anything happening.. I change batteries about every 6-8 hours.
You have to have confidence in your builds though. And take into account the rba you are using. I feel safe. I am now using mostly vtc4 sonys just for more assurance..

I also have a dna30 device. But vaping at .08 doesnt scare me. I know how to build solid coils that arent going to short.
There is always a chance something goes wrong, but that can happen with a battery just sitting there not being used, if you think about it. I dont go below. 08 on a normal build but would feel safe at .05. I dont see the point of going below that. I want to get some flavor out of my vaping.. Not interested in clouds.

Thanks that's good stuff! I've worked a lot with industrial electrical and electronics. Really appreciate the charts and videos. I'm gonna make a couple of mods and will probably end up doin sub-ohm builds at some point because .....I just will:)
