Do I really need two provaris?

I am ready to move up to the next level in vaping. I have about 8 regular ego batteries (1000s I believe- the long ones) that have served me well, but they are on their last leg. My poor egos just have very little power left and give practically no vapor even when freshly charged with a brand new carto or atomizer - even when I drip - and are only lasting a couple of hours. I am super impressed that they have lasted as long as they have, though.

Anyway, I decided to step up to the mod world and it seems that the only real option for a quality device with a warranty and consistent rave reviews is the provari. I have argued with myself for a week over which one - regular or mini. I finally decided on the mini. I think the size will suit my vaping needs better and I don't mind changing batteries. But since my egos are on their way out, I won't really have much of a back-up option.

So I put two provari minis in my shopping cart with extensions and since I have no other mods, I need the batteries and charger. Then I looked at the price - OUCH. I have a battle raging in my head! What if one breaks and needs to be sent in for repairs? The only other person I know who vapes is my best girlfriend and she would puke if she saw the price on my now-loaded cart. She will think I'm a loon! So, I have never seen a provari in person, never held one, never used one, but something tells me I will be super happy with it and super frustrated if I have to revert to my dying egos as backup devices.

So I need two right? I need backup, right? But damn - the price! ugh. Totally worth it I'm sure, but I can't bring myself to hit the purchase button.

Maybe though, I can get the price down a bit? Do you mini users use the extension cap very often? I can go with out that, probably. Do I really need the extended warranty? That's adding $50 by itself. Should I just order one and see if I like it first? The choice of which color is killing me and I really really want both the white and pink. But I don't need both the white and pink, or do I?

You guys with 2 - do you use both? Are you happy you have two or does one just sit around waiting to be needed? These things are tanks, right? One should be fine - or will it? Last night I read somewhere on the forums someone talking about every time she needs to send her provari in for repairs... does that really happen a lot? Are they sensitive and need repaired often? I am under the impression that if I buy one it will last me for a couple of years or more with basically no worries. Is this a true assumption?

What if the FDA does crack down and the whole thing is pointless and I can't even use them? Then I've "wasted" a LOT of money! Or will the crack-down simply mean everything gets taxed to the hilt and I better buy them now or end up paying a heck of lot more later?

If you guys could throw a few comments my way that might help me to end the mental battle I'd appreciate it!

I like having two, I can have different juice loaded in each or different devices for different uses, and if one does have to go home for repairs I still have my favorite mod to use.

I have had my blue one since October and it has been great. No problems with it at all. I just got my black blem in January and so far it has also been trouble free. I did not get the extended warranty on either, I figured a year was long enough for any problems to show up, after that it will be abuse that will kill it.

I say go for it if you have the money!

stick with one for now.

why?

you can always buy a second, and your concern seems to be about comments regarding breakdowns. i havent had any issues and its been dropped on concrete plenty of times.

i would suggest buying the endcap if you want longer battery life. i bought the warranty just in case, but i havent had to use it.

hold onto your egos, use them as backups or side units, but you shouldnt need more than one to start.

One Provari is good enough. Those things are really built nice! You can donate the 2nd one to me!

As far as the FDA, they can't stop manufacture of devices. They may be able to regulate the juice, but that's about it. I'm not sure they can prevent you buying your own nicotine base, and going DIY.

You don't need two Provari's. Two mods would be great, perhaps you'd like a Vamo, Zmax or even an eVic as a secondary mod.

The Provari is a great device, and some people would argue that two are necessary because who knows what will happen? Maybe you'll need to send it in for repairs, or even an upgrade further down the road.

I would argue that one Provari is enough, and if you still feel the need to get another VV PV, then I believe it would benefit you to buy one that is not a Provari.

It would give you more experience as a vaper, and you would be able to make better suggestions to newbies.

Even the military has different variants of the same thing. For example; The Air Forces uses both Pratt & Whitney AND General Electric engines in their F-16 fighter. Why? Well, in case they find something wrong with the design, they have another similar model to use and they don't have to ground the whole fleet.

See what I'm getting at? Diversity is a good thing. :)

I have three so why shouldn't you have at least two? Seriously, you need to do what is right for you. Maybe you want one ProVari and select a less expensive vv mod as a back up. None of mine have needed a trip back 'home' and I am a clutz.....make that a ClutZ! I purchased extended warranty on my first one, but not the other two. As someone already stated, you have a 12 month warranty which will more than cover any manufacturing issues. I do not think you will be sorry if you purchase one or two or even three ProVari's.

If you do buy 2 I'd suggest getting 1 of each. I've had numerous provaris.. About 7 different minis. Then they sent me a standard by mistake when I ordered a mini. I decided to keep it instead of sending it back for the correct 1. Now I'm really glad I have a standard. The battery life on the 18650 is awesome. It serves me well since I work about 15 hours aday & I'm a heavy vapor. It's up to you which way you go. Also I haven't had any issues with my Provaris. I actually gave a bunch of them away to friends being deployed.

You can't beat a Provari....they are built like a proverbial brick, and have very few problems. If you are paranoid & want a backupo (actually, you can never have too-many MODs), I suggest you get a VAMO....they are only around $50, rock solid performers, reliable, and probably one of the biggest bangs-for-the-buck MODS out there right now. You can also use the same batteries in both, so get a spare battery or two & you will always have a MOD ready to roll...

Have fun!

I have two, a regular and a mini, and the regular is just gathering dust. I was thinking of selling it, but then I thought I would keep it for when I want to upgrade to version 3, or in case there is a problem with the mini, though it does seem indestructible (knock on wood). Also, in case I lose it... I'd go ballistic if that happened and I didn't have a backup of sorts.

If you wish to be frugal, just buy one Provari and get a single fresh ego battery to have as a backup. I doubt you will need it though.

I just recieved my first ProVari on Sat, I would do it again now that it's in my hand. My suggestion,if you can would be to buy one mini and one full size. You would have the small size and still the larger battery of the full size, you would only need one charger and no extentions. Also check the clearance section for blems.

Buy one mini. You don't need two extension caps, since presumably an extra ProVari would be a backup. So we've got what, one mini and an extension cap. Ditch the extension cap too. You can buy The Twins extension tube, that will let you use 18350's, 18490's or 18650's.

Extended warranty? Nope, don't need it. The chances of it failing out of warranty are slim. Cost of any repairs if it fails? About the same as what the warranty would have cost.

Batteries and charger? Buy them from MadVapes (Edit: I meant to say RTD). They are cheaper and you will be getting the exact same batteries.

Backup's. You really don't feel like you will need one, once you hold a ProVari, but better safe than sorry. Get a Vamo or some other mod that takes the same kind of batteries as the ProVari. No need to buy two sets of batteries and the accompanying chargers. Keep a new ego twist around for emergencies.

Do buy the ego adapter that ProVape sells. It is high quality and between that and the native 510 threading, you will be able to throw pretty much any atomizer on your ProVari.

If you really want two, and can afford it, go for it.
But honestly, I'd hold off on the second one. There's a chance, albeit slim, that you may not even like it. It has happened. It's not for everyone. Once you get one and use it, then you can easily order another and know if it's the right thing to do.
I got the mini with the plan to get the 18650 ext. tube, I don't think I will now! I really like the size of my mini and get around 6hrs run time out of the batts. I can live with that.
I do want to get another, someday, and it will probably be another mini.

All of your suggestions are wonderful. I had so firmly decided on a provari that the idea of buying something else hadn't even occurred to me. I think the idea to buy a provari and a less expensive back-up is a great compromise! That makes a lot of sense. If something does happen to the mini I will have a decent backup. Plus, I will have the opportunity to compare mods. Since I do not have ANY mods, I kind of like that idea!

I'm thinking I'll just keep it to bare bones - no extension yet, no warranty. I can always buy the extension later if I find myself wishing I had it. Plus, that cuts out the need to buy different sized batteries right now.

I guess it makes the most sense to just buy a twist or two, since I already have the little rings, mini tanks, and chargers. I just hate that when they wear out you throw them away.

It's not so much about spending the money, but about spending it wisely.

So then - back to researching and more decision making. Thanks for all of your advice!!!

I just ordered a second one over the weekend. I have a mini right now and that will be the one I take with me when I leave the house. I just ordered a full size one for home instead of buying an extension cap. I did buy the warranty for both because that's a lot of money to spend and extra protection made it easier for me to justify to myself. You may want to make sure you love them before buying the 2nd one, but I'd suggest the warranty just in case.
