When i first used my Vaporizer <Janty V3>, i used it in the Smokers Zone. i felt like an alien. I got many Eyes on me and of cos my Friends get Curious and they will say that i smoking a Fake Cigarette and even asked me to smoke the analog. I mentioned to them that what is Fake? tobacco with Nicotine is real? i told them that i having the same Nicotine feeling in me and i feel better and they just say that is not possible. Days later, my friends see that i still using that as a smoking device, they started to ask where to get the device and wanting to try. I started to guide them and true enough that some successfully quit tobacco. but some are just worry about people laughing at them.

I think this should not be the way. why so worry about what others people think. Don't be afraid to use it but be afraid that the harmful Smoke feeling up your lung. Don't you think is just for that nicotine feeling and u have to only smoke tobacco and harm others around u?

For those SG Smokers, think about this. When u are young, u like to try new things and somehow got hook up by Nicotine from Smoking Tobacco. And years later, people asked you why u smoke and u complained that u are unable to quit. I think this will continue to go on for our future generation even our Government ban smokers born in year 2000. but that still means that new smokers will still be created in next 8 years.

I was always a little paranoid about showing my PV in public, until.. A few days ago, I was driving home from work, and I started vaping my PV. At the stop light, this lady pulls up next to me and she had the nerve to give me a disgusting look!. Now granted, my PV does not look like a cigarette (Joye eGo), but that look made me throw down my PV from shame of using it... I don't know what I was feeling.

I then realized that it is helping me become healthier for lords peat sake! I decided to let people wonder what this device is. Now, I have gotten pretty cold stares from smokers, eventually coming up with something to say. I usually carry small paperwork for what the device is, and a link to this forum website. I will get into the details with people on what they should do and expect from this device if they are serious enough to give it a go.

If someone pulls beside me at the light again and I anticipate a disgusted person beside me, I will not look at them directly, but will blow a huge cloud of vapor from my "weird looking device." It will catch on soon enough :)

I absolutely vape in public - Nothing in your face or anything, but am vaping like it's the most normal thing in the world, and that everyone's doing it. I get odd looks of course, but I usually give them a smile and nod. I will answer the "why are you smoking a pen" or "what in the world are you doing" questions but generally I am only going to engage in conversation if they do. I do my elevator speech on eCigs, and provide this site for further info. They say that ex smokers are zealots when it comes to quitting smoking - I don't want to be overly pushy, so generally I won't push my vaping into "non-smoking" areas or engage folks that aren't ready to switch. My next steps are to order some ECF Business cards and to get a couple of more batts and attys, so I can allow some people to try.

IMO, the key is to pretend all is normal, ignore the odd looks, and engage in healthy conversation with those that are interested (as potential vapers). I think those that treat this as an underground activity only will force the attitudes of our law makers into a direction I don't want them to go. Vape Loud, and Vape PROUD I say!!

Mathew, I really like what you said. I got my eGo on Friday and don't go back to work until tomorrow so haven't really been out and about since I started. Just do it... not be embarrassed either. Anyway, if we act covert about it, some idiot may think we're smoking weed LOL

What is it with those people and their "make a face at him" type of thinking?!

I really don't understand why some people feel the need to "make a face" at someone else when they don't like what they're doing.. whatever it is..

It just drives me insane, makes me really wanna hurt them.. really bad!

Ugh!

Sanctimonious and they think they are so far above having a nasty habit like smoking... they are so caught up with their hatred of it that they don't even realize it's not a cigarette. I don't flip people off because it just doesn't come natural but I would probably make an exception for someone like that.

I think I read somewhere that ECF business cards cost money. I do not understand the thinking behind that. (if I am correct) Tell me why they wouldnt email templates that we could print out. Advertising costs them nothing in that case.

I'm sure your voice will be heard, I too want to use ECF's cards for to give to friend's and strangers curious about my "open vaping rights act"..

Maybe we can either download templates or just order them and pay for shipping and a donation :)

To vape in public and carry ECF cards with info about ecigs would really open up people's minds to vaping and enourage new visitors to these forums!

I think that is the perfect approach. I don't vape "in peoples faces". I don't push it too much into non-smoking areas. I don't want to make people feel uncomfortable. I also want to be comfortable about it.

I did take my Riva 510 into the President of my companies office when we were on a conference call. I took the case, pulled it out and started putting it together. I basically adjusted it and played around with it during the call but, I didn't draw off it. After the call he asked me about it and I demoed it for him. Our lead developer, of 30 years, is a very heavy smoker. The President asked me to show it to him. He also told me that as long as people were okay with it, I could vape in the building. So, now I can vape in my office. Some people will even bring their spouses around and ask me to demo it for them.

Now that I have a Riva, drip and use a bridgeless LR atty, the vapor is really impressive to a analog smoker. Almost everyone at work knows I vape and the best comment I get about my office is that it "smells like incense" is burning in there.

Since there is nicotine in my vapor, there is one person at work who "claims" to be allergic to it. I am not sure how since many foods have it in it as well but, I don't use my Riva around him.

I've gained strides at work by being respectful. People are comfortable around me when I use it and I am comfortable using it. I don't vape in meetings because I don't want to be disrespectful. As well, as long as there is nicotine in my vapor, I don't want to force that on anyone. It is my habit, not theirs.

Nicely said Matt!
I DO vape in 'non-smoking' areas, if someone asks me to stop, I compare it to what an asthmatic uses for breathing treatments, would they tell an asthmatic to stop? No, and once I tell them a little about it, they're usually fine) If they're insistent that I stop (we're talking owners/managers, in restaurants and stores, and none ever have) I will, but I will make it very clear that I will never set foot in the establishment and why...
As for dirty looks, I'm using a box mod, and I know a couple of people must have thought I was smoking crack or something by the looks they gave me... Doesn't bother me... Depending on the situation, they might get ignored, a friendly smile and nod, or flipped off, depends on how dirty a look, and what the social situation is.... If somebody asks me about it, and is interested in one, I usually give them a local vendors card, and might tell them to look up ecf, but I found allot of people would rather call and talk to a vendor as opposed to reading through the forums....

Some people are allergic to PG... I don't know of anyone being allergic to nicotine, but I suppose it could be possible... I'm allergic to cigarette smoke (I suspected I was for years), one thing I noticed when I went back to smoking, for a brief period, was I was my allergy problems returning the next day... I'll never make that mistake again...

I didn't even think about the PG but, you are correct. The nicotine thing seems a little weird. I asked him if maybe it was just cigarettes and didn't get a straight answer. Either way, I just don't vape around him. I am a firm believer that people should have the right to decide what goes into their body. I also don't vape around my kids.

Some people here don't see things the same way I do and I can understand that. This is just how I handle my vaping.

so, most people really don't notice when I vape. I've been in meetings all day today with people who are non-smokers. I showed them my e-cig last spring in another set of meetings. I only see them a couple of times a year. I've been vaping in the meeting all day and went to dinner with them this evening. I was using it all day and at dinner, but not really trying to be stealthy. Three people asked me how it was going, cause they hadn't seen me using it...the last one was surprised that i had it in my hand when she asked me. go figure. :)

In Singapore, we will not Vape in Non-Smoking Area as if we Vapers really Did that, than we will be really creating a Scene. It could be the Singaporean Thing that we are just afraid to let others say. but to me i think is good not to Vape in non-smoking area.
It's true that E-Cig currently is ban in Singapore but Vaping is not Ban yet. don't u all get it? The Law stated E-cig is Ban. So if mine is not E-Cig but is Called an Vaporizer(I don't think they can accused me stating is an e-Cig) and i am Vaping hence there is no Tobacco, i don't see that how the law going to get me.

E-Cig is an old name, we should start changing the name to Vaporizer. and of cos if u guys are still using the Cigarette Design than forget it.
W.H.O name it as E.N.D.S (Electronics Nicotine Delivery System) but some of us is not even using Nicotine so how to name this?

I've been calling my devices PVs (Personal Vaporizers) since about 3 or 4 weeks into using them. I also abstain from using the word analog when I mean cigarette.

When someone asks me, "is that one of those electronic cigarettes", I tell them I call it a PV, and then tell them what PV stands for. Most people seem very accepting of the difference.

I like the term PV much better than ENDS--which sounds like one of those cutesy double entendre acronyms... but perhaps better than DEATH as a name "Delivery Electronic Allies To Health" or ADDICT "a dynamic delivery in conquering tobacco" or perhaps PERVS " People everywhere releasing vaporous smoke" or Psycho "People-smokers yesterday however overit".
I'm sure you can do better. :)

sorry--couldn't resist

PV is currently also the latest name for Vapers but the Things is People Concept in my that when you are using this, and by looking at it, they will think that is E-Cig. I always tell them back that is call the Vaporizer and is not really the E-Cig as is not the traditional Design and is totally different as i using the eGo and is so much different from Traditional E-Cig Design. most of them look at it and thought that i biting on my Pen or even though that i holding on to a SPY Pen. even weird that i puff out Mist. LOL:laugh:

(Coming to say SPY pen is a Camera with 2GB for Recording AV, i really hate it that it is make available to Public, it is so Weird that why must it be sold so Openly in Singapore and it makes some people do all sort of Funny Things.)

Well, we ended up shaking things up, as far as offices go, and I got a new office-mate at work. Guess who? Yup, Mr. Allergic-To-Nicotine. We got into a nice discussion about my PV and the juices. We also discussed how many things we eat which have nicotine in them. I offered to leave the office to vape and he suggested trying my vaping in the office (part of my plan). Our desks face opposite directions against the wall, after all. Two days laster, I asked him if it was bothering him. He said, "I didn't even realize you were vaping in here". A little education really goes a long way with people. :)
