My 1st ecig was 200 dollars. 2 batterys(don't know what kind) 3 bottles of cartridges and 3 atomizers with a handy carry case from the mall. The guy said 1 cartridge was equal to a pack of ciggs~~lol. Nope. Glad I found the forums!!

$200 Yikes!!!

I've been reading about how those crooks are all saying a pack=1cart.. Wonder why all of them seem to have the same script..

I almost fell for 1 of the free trial offers. I was having second thoughts about it from the start since they didn't have any technical info on their site about their product. I then figured "hey it's a free trial I can just cancel". I filled out the shipping information and when it got to the CC part I stopped and read the contract down at the bottom and didn't go through with it.

Then I found this forum and made wiser decisions. I did get a starter kit from the mall for $30 and lucked out with the fact that it's 510 compatible.

If a person did wish to give e-cigs a trial, I tend to let them try out mine XD.

But perhaps do you think it would be a good idea to recommend one of those cheap 'disposables'?

I've seen them sell for as low as about $10 American, but I have no idea about the quality of these, and if it's low... well as the OP said, first impressions count.

EDIT: And as to the mall guys, say what you want about them, but a friend of mine bought a kit from them, and after deciding she didn't really like vaping gave it to me. It has been getting daily use since January, and everything still works great, the batteries and atomizer, and the cartridges can be refilled dozens of times. They may be overpriced, but they are at least selling a pretty good product for it, and making it accessible to people who wouldn't otherwise have access.

Saw an ad on the weather channel for ezsmoker. part of me was like "Awesome! Now more people are going to know about vaping!" and the other part of me said "Oh crap! Now the people who order this free trial are going to tell all their friends about how much it sucks!" Hope more people will see the commercial and find this forum FIRST.

I also ordered one of these 'free trials' and read the fine print and cancelled immediately which was disappointing. It's hard to know what to get started with when there are so many choices and so many ways to go. I'm glad I unmade this mistake which could have proven to be very costly, and cost is very important to me especially as a beginner. I figure if I ask the right questions and do my homework, I can get set up with a kit that is maybe a little more expensive than a brand name carton of cigarettes.

One more thing I forgot to mention. He said I had 30 days to return it if I wasn't satisfied. When I saw him again to return it (about 10 days later) he said I could only exchange it for other items he had. I then saw the fine print at the bottom of the receipt. (which he pointed out) No refunds exchanges only. lesson learned:facepalm:

On the plus side... it was one of these 'free trials' that lead to me finding this site. A friend of mine succumbed to one in a mall and indeed they did charge her a monthly subscription. Totally put me off that company but not on the idea as a whole... so, i did some research and have been lurking around here for a day or so. Ordered me one today from a recommended supplier and will hopefully have a much better experience than she did.

I was on the forum for 3 months until I decided what one to buy as my first...

I CAN'T THANK YOU GUYS ENOUGH! I was just about to do that very same thing. You've saved us $$ that we can't afford to lose. We really need to quit, having been diagnosed with emphasema a while ago and have tried many things. All of which didn't work. This is our last, desperate stab in the dark. If anyone knows of a way to ease the initial cost, like coupons, or time payments ( my cards are maxed since my partners last knee surgery) I would be ever so greatful. SO....THANK YOU-THANK YOU-THANK-YOU!!!!

Get a 510 starter kit from Cignot, you really can't go wrong.
And once you find out what you like and don't like about it, we can help you fine tune it.
